Chapter 88 - Cravings

Jay's POV

4 Months Later

Time is funny.

One moment you're like a free bird going out wherever I wanted ...

And the next, youʼre counting baby kicks at 3 a.m..

While wearing your husband's shirt that's three sizes too big.

Five months passed without me even realising it.

And now-

I'm five months pregnant.

My body feels heavier, my heart feels fuller, and my emotions?

Unpredictable. Completely unpredictable.

Some days, I wake up craving mangoes with salt and chilli.

Other days, I cry because the rice is too soft.

And sometimes, just sometimes, I cry because Keifer looked at me

"too lovingly."

Don't ask. I don't understand it either.

But Keifer does.

He understands everything.

I spend most of my day in his shirts.

Oversized. Soft. Smelling like him.

I eat in them.

Sleep in them.

Rest in them.

And flirt shamelessly in them.

One afternoon, I was sitting on the couch, legs propped up, munching biscuits while watching a random show, when Keifer walked in and raised an eyebrow.

"Jay," he said calmly, "do you even remember that you own clothes?"

I looked down at his shirt, then up at him.

"Yes."

"Then why do you always wear mine?"

I shrugged, completely serious.

"Because it's comfortable."

He sighed softly, walked over, adjusted the cushion behind my back, and kissed my forehead.

"You're impossible."

I smiled proudly.

"And you love me."

"I adore you," he corrected.

Pregnancy changed a lot of things-but not him.

When I snap, he listens.

When I cry, he holds me.

When I crave something at midnight, he doesn't complain-he just asks how much.

Sometimes I feel ugly. Swollen. Tired.

And he looks at me like I'm glowing.

Sometimes I feel strong. Powerful.

And he reminds me I don't have to be all the time.

I rest my hand on my belly and feel the baby move, and suddenly everything-every ache, every tear-feels worth it.

"This is our little miracle," I whisper often.

And Keifer always answers,

"Our everything."

Keifer's POV

Jay at 5 months pregnant is ...

beautiful chaos.

She glows in a way I can't explain. Not the kind you see in pictures-but the kind that lives in her eyes. Softer. Deeper. Stronger.

Her mood swings are legendary..

One minute she's laughing, the next she's upset because I cut the fruit the

"Wrong way."

I've learned not to argue.

I've learned not to laugh.

I've learned to say, "You're right, love."

Food cravings rule our lives now.

Mangoes.

Ice cream.

Warm soup.

Something salty followed immediately by something sweet.

Once she asked for three things at the same time-and cried when I brought only two.

I held her and apologised.

Even though I knew I did nothing wrong.

She wears my shirts constantly.

Every single one.

When I open my cupboard, it's half empty.

When I look at her-curled up, comfortable, safe, I don't miss them.

I watch her sleep more than I should.

Her hand was always resting on her belly.

Her breathing is slow. Peaceful.

Sometimes I kneel beside her and whisper to the baby.

"Your mom is the strongest person I know."

"Take care of her when I'm not looking."

I'm calm on the outside.

But inside, I'm terrified.

Not of becoming a father.

But of loving something this much.

Every appointment, every checkup, every kick-I remember the day I almost lost her. And I promise myself silently:

I will protect her peace.

I will protect this family.

I will always choose patience over pride.

Jay thinks I "handle" her.

The truth is-

She's the one holding me together.

When she looks at me and smiles through exhaustion, I know I'd live this

life a thousand times just to be here.

Five months in.

A lifetime to go.

And I wouldn't change a single moment.

Author's POV

The house that once felt calm and slow was suddenly alive again. The moment Section arrived, carrying bags upon bags of snacks like soldiers reporting for duty.

Jay was sitting comfortably on the couch, one hand on her belly, the other already reaching out before anyone even said hello.

"Why are there so many chips?" she asked suspiciously, eyes sparkling like she was offended and excited at the same time.

Ci-n dropped the bags dramatically. "Because my godchild demands variety."

Keifer sighed but smiled, already knowing how this would end.

Jay stood up slowly, pointing at the snacks. "These are mine."

Percy crossed his arms. "Correction. These are the baby's."

Jay gasped. "You're all plotting against me."

Keifer wrapped an arm around her waist instantly. "No one is plotting against my wife. Give her the snacks."

Section E groaned together.

Within minutes, Jay was sitting like a queen, snacks arranged around her in perfect reach.

Felix tried to steal a chocolate.

Jay slapped his hand. "Touch it, and I will cry."

Felix froze. "Abort mission."

Keifer nodded proudly. "Smart choice."

Movie night was declared without discussion.

Rory handled the movie list while Eman argued about genres.

Jay changed her mind three times in five minutes.

"I want romance."

"No, horror."

"No, cartoon."

Keifer didn't even blink. "We'll watch all three."

Halfway through the movie, Jay suddenly frowned..

"I want mango."

Cin jumped up. "It's midnight."

Jay's lips trembled.

Keifer paused the movie. "Who has mango?"

Three people ran out of the house immediately.

Jay sniffed loudly. "Why does everyone hate me?"

Keifer knelt in front of her, holding her face gently. "You're loved. You're hormonal. And you're getting mango."

She smiled through tears. "Okay."

When the mango arrived, Jay hugged the bag like it was a treasure.

Percy whispered, "Pregnancy is terrifying."

Aries nodded seriously. "But she's still scary"

Keifer chuckled. "Especially now."

As the night went on, Section E quietly observed the way Keifer watched

Jay-every bite she took, every sigh, every shift of discomfort.

He adjusted pillows without being asked.

He reminded her to drink water.

He kissed her forehead whenever she looked tired.

Cin suddenly sat up straight.

"BABY SHOWER."

Everyone turned.

Jay blinked. "What?"

Percy grinned. "Yes. Tomorrow."

Jay panicked. "I'm not ready."

Keifer squeezed her hand. "You don't need to be. We'll do it together."

Plans exploded instantly.

Decorations.

Games.

Food.

More food.

Even more food.

Jay yawned, leaning into Keifer's chest.

He kissed her hair softly. "That's enough chaos for tonight."

Section E smiled, watching her eyes close slowly.

******

Tomorrow wasn't just a celebration.

And there is also a very special surprise planned for you'all

It's love, wrapped in laughter, waiting to arrive.

Stay tuned....
