Chapter 168 - The Station

The old railway station had been abandoned for almost fifteen years.

Once, it had been one of the busiest stations on the eastern side of the city. Trains had arrived every hour, carrying workers, families and travelers toward cities that seemed impossibly far away. There had been restaurants along the platforms, small shops beneath the old clock tower and crowds that made it almost impossible to hear yourself think.

Now there was nothing.

The last train had left years ago.

The shops had been boarded up.

The signs were faded.

Weeds had grown through cracks in the concrete, and several sections of the roof had collapsed under years of neglect.

Noah stood across the street, staring at the station.

He had seen it before.

Not in photographs.

Not in dreams.

In memory.

A memory that had been buried so deeply that he had almost convinced himself it never existed.

Aiden stood beside him.

"You remember this place."

Noah nodded.

"My father brought me here."

"When?"
