Matthew Atkinson
Oxford, United Kingdom
Although Matthew's attributes have increased significantly over the past month, and his calculations show that he has surpassed the freshman standards by a substantial margin, these were just numerical calculations.
Matthew hadn't yet had the chance to test his current power.
Anyway, he thought that if he used his Galaxy Impact, no one in the University of Oxford, except for the principal, should be able to stop him at the moment.
He got up, washed up, and then went to the cafeteria for breakfast.
One advantage of living on campus was that he didn't have to buy his own breakfast.
And frankly, the university meals were more hygienic than those sold outside, and they were prepared with students' nutritional needs in mind.
Although Matthew's body and digestive system were so strong that even the dirtiest food could not affect him, he still preferred to eat clean, nutritious food.
After finishing breakfast, Matthew went back to his dormitory to rest for a while. It wasn't until 10 a.m. that he headed towards the training grounds.
Today was another opening day of the Supernatural Realm.
He was going to participate in the adventure of the sixth layer of the Supernatural Realm.
And the sixth layer of the supernatural realm was another Amnesiac Layer.
The university only knew that a team of up to 10 people could be formed, and nothing else.
But even though it was an Amnesiac Realm, how did the university know how many people were allowed on each team?
It was very simple.
During their initial attempts, they first had a large number of people enter the Supernatural Realm by holding hands.
And when the freshmen returned, they counted how many people were still holding hands.
And the returned teams consisted of no more than 10 people. Teams with fewer than 10 people were those that had lost someone in this layer.
After all, returned freshmen couldn't hold hands unless they were teammates.
This time, Matthew's team members were almost identical to those in the fifth layer of the supernatural realm.
When Matthew arrived at the training grounds, all the other team members were already there except for Natalie.
"Matthew, it's so great to be able to team up alongside you again. Our team will definitely achieve another great success." Sam Harris said excitedly.
Hearing this, Filip Walker laughed and said, "Stop flattering yourself. It was clearly Matthew who carried us to victory last time."
Everyone laughed.
In the distance, the other students looked over with envy and jealousy.
It was now widely acknowledged across the country that teaming up with Matthew and Natalie was practically a guaranteed win. Effortless victory.
Moreover, there was a high probability of getting an SSS-grade mission rating. Who wouldn't want that?
Everyone wanted to be a "lucky one" like Filip Walker and Sam Harris.
Natalie didn't appear until 11 a.m.
No one had any objections to Natalie's lateness.
After all, Natalie was a special person, and her safety was of utmost importance.
Soon it was 11:10 a.m.
The university management staff member in charge of the scene immediately announced loudly, "It's the last minute, everyone, get ready."
Upon hearing this, everyone held hands.
Ten people per group.
One minute later, the time was up, and all the freshmen on the training grounds had disappeared.
...
Matthew Atkinson & Natalie Russell
Sixth Layer of the Supernatural Realm
A flash of white light passed.
And when Matthew and his teammates regained their vision, they realized that they had arrived at a desolate wilderness.
The sky was gloomy and oppressive.
It felt like it could rain at any moment.
As for the surrounding area, there was nothing but weeds.
"What kind of hellhole is this?"
Sam Harris had just said one sentence, and a prompt appeared in everyone's left eye.
[Please reach any checkpoint before nightfall.]
Besides this prompt, the group also noticed several red arrows in their left eyes.
Each arrow pointed to a different location and direction.
"Oh. Some red arrows have appeared in my left eye." Sam Harris exclaimed in surprise.
Natalie said, "It should be the checkpoints mentioned by the Supernatural Realm. These arrows indicate the locations of different checkpoints. We need to choose one as our destination and get there before nightfall."
"Alternatively, we could split up and head to different checkpoints..."
Upon hearing this, everyone immediately fell into thought.
Matthew glanced at teammates and said, "Let's not separate and head to the same place together."
Upon hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement.
They didn't want to separate either.
Then, Matthew randomly chose a direction and led the group there.
"It's probably getting dark soon, everyone, hurry up."
Matthew said, looking at Natalie, "Nat, let me carry you."
This girl focused on her Mental attribute, so her agility attribute should not be very high.
That was why Matthew made that suggestion.
Upon hearing this, Natalie blushed.
With so many classmates around, she felt a little embarrassed to have Matthew carry her.
However, the girl knew that the mission was important, so she didn't object and climbed onto Matthew's back.
Instantly, Matthew then felt two soft, round objects pressing down on his back.
He looked at the others and said, "Those who aren't fast enough, find someone faster to help you. I estimate that reaching our destination before dark will be the first test of this layer."
His words made everyone's expressions serious.
Next, everyone hurried on their way.
Although Matthew was carrying Natalie on his back, he was still very relaxed. In fact, he even had to slow down and wait for the other teammates deliberately.
While everyone was surprised by Matthew's speed, they didn't think much of it.
After all, Matthew had gained quite a few attribute points from the fifth layer of the supernatural realm, so it was normal for him to add some points to his agility attribute.
Along the way, everything was desolate.
There wasn't a single sign of human habitation.
It wasn't until half an hour later that everyone saw a city wall standing between the two mountains.
The city wall's location was also one of the many checkpoints indicated in their left eye.
With his enhanced vision thanks to Observation Haki, Matthew had already seen that on the city wall, many soldiers were dressed in historical metal armor, ready for battle.
"Matthew, those soldiers are wearing metal, cold-weapon era armor."
Filip Walker said breathlessly, "We're all wearing modern clothes. If we get too close, will they mistake us for strangers and arrest us?"
"We still have to go, just be careful." Matthew said to everybody, then turned his gaze to Filip Walker and said, "As for you, you can deactivate your transformation now. Otherwise, if you just walk over like this, it might cause unnecessary misunderstandings."
At this moment, Filip Walker has transformed into a werewolf using his ability.
The reason for his transformation was that in this form, he could run faster and had more stamina.
Upon hearing Matthew's reminder, Filip Walker quickly reverted to his human form.
Then, the group approached the city wall.
When they appeared at the edge of the city wall, they were immediately spotted by the soldiers guarding the city.
However, the soldiers did not take any initiative. They simply watched them approach.
When Matthew and the others were less than a hundred meters from the city wall, the city gates were opened.
A cavalryman on horseback charged out from the gates and shouted at them from afar.
"Halt."
Everyone stopped, becoming secretly on guard.
When the cavalryman reached them, he pulled on the reins and stopped his horse.
"Are you foreigners or reinforcements?" the cavalryman asked.
Even though the cavalryman spoke in a language they didn't know, everyone could understand what he was saying thanks to the help of the Supernatural Realm.
The cavalryman's question was clear to everyone. But they had no idea how to answer.
Just as everyone was feeling confused, a mission prompt suddenly popped up in their left eye.
[Main Mission: Help the border guards defend the passage]
[Grade Mission: Kill the monsters]
[Mission Duration: 12 hours]
[Note: The more monsters you kill within the mission time, the higher your mission grade will be...]
When they saw the mission prompt, everyone was startled.
Then they all looked at Matthew.
Although Matthew didn't claim the captain position this time, everyone still followed his orders as usual.
Because in the fifth layer of the supernatural realm, Matthew's commands saved them countless times.
Upon seeing this, Matthew immediately said, "Yes, we are here to help you guard the passage."
Upon hearing this, the cavalryman glanced at Matthew and his group.
Seeing that there were only ten of them, he looked somewhat disdainful but didn't say anything about it.
"In that case, come with me." As soon as he finished speaking, the cavalryman steered his horse and turned back.
"Let's follow," Matthew said, taking the lead and walking towards the city gate.
He was confident in his own strength and was not afraid of the cavalryman's tricks or any traps hidden in the city walls.
Seeing this, the others followed suit.
Shortly after they entered the city, more supernatural individuals arrived.
