Chapter 135: Misunderstanding The Plot

Today was the birthday of this body. Steve Roger was born on 5 May 1981, and instead of candles or cake, he found himself being escorted to Diagon Alley by Professor Minerva McGonagall.
Talk about Birthday, on the muggle account his official birthdate is on 6 May 1981, they didn't know which date that Steve was born due to the condition when he was found on trash can.
So the police who found him, thought steve was born on 6 may instead of 5 may.
Knowing about this body past, Steve can only sighed. In the modern world there is a phrase from wise man, "Don't do adultery, it will lead to poverty."
Right now not just that the unknown parents who most likely live in poverty, even him live in poverty as an orphan. But thanks to the magic, he manage to reverse it by selling the service to a rich man.
He still remember, the events of a few days ago were still fresh in his mind. First he was being interrogated for hours, after that the Ministry of Magic, Head OF DMLE, Headmaster and Professor from Hogwarts, they all took time to visit him.
Luckily all that thing are in the past and he manage to fool Dumbledore, although he had feel that man still suspicious on him. The way those blue eyes behind the glass looked straight on his eyes. As if trying to peel him apart layer by layer. Even when no questions were asked when he visited but he still feel that way.
Luckily this time it wasn't Dumbledore, just imagine walking through the wizarding world beside Dumbledore or accompanied by the Ministry of Magic would have been a nightmare. The curiosity alone would have been unbearable. People would stare and the gossip would spread just in hour. They would speculate, about him eleven year old Muggleborn walk with Dumbledore.
Knowing the novel, he knows fame at this time ist the worst thing to happen, especially now he knows Voldemort had returned.
Luckily the Daily Prophet only talk about him but didn't know his real identity except that he was muggleborn. The little wizard who defeated Death Eaters without a wand was already strange enough. Being seen with figures of authority would only pour oil onto the fire.
So yes, Professor McGonagall was far better.
She was strict, sharp, and formal, but honest. When she observed him, it felt like a teacher evaluating a student, not a chess master examining a piece like Dumbledore did.
As they walked, Steve quietly think about this world.
By now, he finally understood what kind of world he had been thrown into.
This was not canon timeline, not a Hogwarts Legacy game, not even the novels and movies.
This world had already diverged in ways that could not be ignored.
It is like a mixture of AU/HP.
The thing that shouldn't be happen for example Sirius Black had been released and prove his innocence.
How did he know about this? Well it all thanks to reading newspapers and hushed conversation between the aurors. Apparently, the butterfly effect started when Amelia Bones personally witnessed Dementors attempting to attack Harry Potter. Sirius had appeared to protect Harry, and in the chaos, the truth surfaced, Pettigrew betrayal,Sirius innocence. Secrets that should have remained buried were dragged into the light.
Sirius Black finally received the trial he had waited for more than a decade.
Then came the Ministry attack. Voldemort had openly assaulted the Ministry of Magic, exposing himself fully on public. The prophecy hall was destroyed, Death Eaters were captured or killed and the wizarding world was forced to accept the truth.
As a result, Amelia Bones became the new Minister of Magic.
Steve learned all of this through the newspaper, reading each article carefully, re-reading between the lines and he feel a bit glad that the Dark Lord influence has reduced a lot.
But knowing Voldemort, that man most probably will go hiding and gather his strengh before launching the attack.
This world did not follow a script, there was no guarantee that the events would unfold the same way as the story he once knew. His so-called meta knowledge had already lost much of its value. Future events could change at any moment, twisted by decisions that never existed in canon.
Even worse, some information was deliberately suppressed.
The newspapers never mentioned Dudley, not even once.
That is why Steve thought this is AU Harry Potter, if he knows Dudley had become wizard. He would suspect that Dudley is his biological brother.
He let out a slow sigh, being a Muggle-born already placed him under scrutiny. Add to that the fact that he had killed three Death Eaters, and his future suddenly looked very narrow.
At best, he would be allowed to study at Hogwarts for a year, before Voldemort attacked Hogwarts.
But that thing also might not happen, because he lives in Alternate Universe.
Although he feel slighly nervous but his memory as Ancient one is still there.
"I hope this would turn out ok," muttered Steve slowly. "My brother, I hope you also went to Hogwarts."
"What is it Mr Rogers?" asked McGonagall.
"Oh nothing Professor, I just talking to myself," replied Steve.
McGonagall look at him for a while.
"Because you are an orphan, Hogwarts offer scholarship to the student so we don't need to go to Gringotts to withdraw the money," said McGonagall. "But if you have extra money you can go to that place to change the currency, the price for one galleon is 5 pound."
Steve nodded, "Is there a limit of how many money I can change?"
"Yes, ever year you can only change the currency up to 100 galleon," replied McGonagall. "Before that."
McGonagall take out the galleon, sickle and knut. She explained the currency here to him.
Steve once again nodded, although he already knows about this he still need to act clueless.
"Professor, If I trade gold can I change it with Galleon?" asked Steve.
His question make Professor McGonagall paused for a while, she never thought about it.
"Do you have a gold?" asked McGonagall.
"No professor, I mean... I understand the logic why only 100 galleon because wizards didn't use pound money but I can buy extra gold in the muggle jewellery and change it with the galleon," explained Steve.
McGonagall didn't have an answer for that question but what Steve said is a logic and her eyes widen with delight. This is another genius student that she hope would enter Gryffindor.
"When you have gold, you can go to Gringotts ask the Goblin there," said McGonagall.
Hearing this Steve understand that McGonagall never try it before.
