I was shocked and stared at him then back at the demon king who paused. Maybe this could work after all. I nodded too, supporting my father's words.

His small feet had barely touched the ground when he immediately tried to move toward Azerion, his little body already leaning in that direction, his eyes bright with excitement at seeing his friend again. But before he could take more than a single step, Zayrion's hand shot out and held him back.


"Wait," Zayrion whispered urgently. "The Queen is angry."


Aziren froze at those words. His eyes flicked toward me with uncertainty. Then he nodded slowly and stayed where he was, his small hands clasped in front of him.
