Chapter 168 - The Lost Journal

'Date: 3 / 7 / 1405 — The counting of days and months hath proven an agonizingly difficult task, yet I manage to preserve the tally through the sharpness of my mind. For over a month, I wandered lost amidst boundless forests and wild thickets—devoid of any path, my flesh emaciated unto the very brink of death. Only then did I realize that the ember bestowed upon me was a true trial of faith. For what reason had I clung so stubbornly to a stone that seemed utterly useless? It was the radiant grace of the Almighty! Every time my boots strayed toward a path I wished not to tread, the glowing charcoal flickered, guiding my steps toward the chosen direction without fail. Thus, I was forced to follow the flickering beacon of that thing until the end of days... God deliver me! I escaped the wilderness at long last. The first thing I did was sprint toward a cascading waterfall to drink my fill. I cast my eyes upward toward the royal palace before he revealed himself to me. That old man had been awaiting my arrival at that very spot from the beginning, as though he foresaw the entire thread of fate. Holding his wooden staff, he met me once more, picking up three stones while uttering a most bizarre theory—one he named "The Embers of Laniakea".

Composed of three sacred stones: Aevum (The Epoch of Time), Anweald (The Sovereign Will), and Anima (The Given Soul).

-What could these three entities possibly mean? I must unearth the answer... —End of Log / Flip to the Next Page—'

'Date: 8 / 7 / 1406 — It hath taken me over a full year to unravel the riddle of these three stones. The keys to unlocking the secrets of the three relics were forged in this very realm—the Kingdom of Casletia. A power transcending all else I have ever known! These three stones defy every law of nature; even the greatest scholars of the earthly world could produce no scientific truth to explain them. Perchance I alone can comprehend, for as a traveler and the recipient of this divine blessing, my presence here at this moment was orchestrated entirely by that old man.'

'The first gem is the absolute master of all enigmas: "Aevum" ... Could it be that my journey to this ancient land was granted solely through the power of this stone? Aevum resembles a chunk of raw gold, radiating a divine glow whenever touched by sunlight. It is the sole stone I have failed to track down, leaving behind only a whisper of a clue, that it lies buried beneath a tree somewhere not far beyond the city walls, according to records from noble manuscripts that King Castol burned to ash.'

'The second, the sanctuary of spirits: "Anima" a magnificent emerald of extraordinary intrigue. It rests embedded upon the hilt of the Royal Blade of King Castol. The sword chooses its wielder as though it possesses a... soul... of its own through the command of the gem. Should an unworthy hand touch the blade, swift death is certain. The Anima emerald presents a brilliant emerald interwoven with veins of blood. From what I have gathered, the sword can both bestow soul and sever it. King Castol utilized this blade to restore dying soldiers to life, though from my observations, precious few have ever received a second life through the sword's magic. Tiān Huì Dé, the eastern herbalist maiden, explained this truth herself.'

'And lastly, the auspicious violet gem: "Anweald". I sensed its presence from the very first step I took into the Cathedral of Josepha.'

"Josepha... Why, that is the old name of the Church of Adtoris," Mary murmured softly to herself.

'It lies buried at the center of the holy cross upon the baptismal altar. Upon entering the sanctuary, I saw it reflecting the sunlight with absolute clarity. Its power to manipulate the human mind is formidable, yet as one who carries the divine blessing of the Lord, the stone's influence holds no sway over me. The sole thought that captivates my mind is... what if that very Anweald stone were under my command? Could the gem bend the minds of these devout followers to my every whim? What a blasphemous—yet utterly magnificent—thought.'

The remaining pages are torn and heavily ruined.

'Date: 12 / 4 / 1408 — I am now a humble servant to the King. The royal poem I composed to offer unto the King Castol—a ruler of supreme grace and beloved by all the people of Caslette—I have entitled...'

The Solar Eclipse Shifts Light

O! Blood of the progenitor born of the night,

O! Ye realm of riddles, come stand as witness now.

One side supreme in glory, one side drowned in bitter torment,

When Nirvana descends unto this pitch-black world.

Rumors speak of the unborn ghost, lacking a human heart,

How fleeting is this mortal life, yet none perceive the truth.

O! I, amidst the moonlit night, masters of all realms,

Countless lives wither and perish under the full moon's crest,

Offered up to the blood of the progenitor at the dawn of day.
