"Alright… I should probably explain something." Ruko glanced sideways. "Y'know that girl who jumped through the bathroom window."

Kazuma shrugged. "And most missions went smoothly." Ruko looked at him. "'Most'?" Kazuma grimaced. "…One relic owner reported the theft." Ruko facepalmed and sighed. "So now the guards are investigating around Axel." Kazuma nodded. "Yeah. Even though I thought it will be a easy–peasy–lemon–squeezy." The two reached the front gate of their mansion. Ruko pushed it open. "Let's go inside before someone hears this." They stepped into the courtyard and walked toward the house. Inside, the mansion was quiet. The girls were likely asleep or in their rooms. Kazuma sit against the couch and crossed his arms. "The problem is that relics are tied to the war with the Devil King. So when someone reports one stolen… the authorities treat it seriously." Ruko nodded slowly. "So you're the main suspect." Kazuma sighed. "Yeah and it will be troublesome for me."

Ruko shook his head. "Yeah you're an idiot." "Hey!" Kazuma pointed at him. "I was helping! And it's not my fault." "By breaking into people's houses." "…When you say it like that it sounds bad and has a point." Ruko smirked. "It is bad you say well I'm not going to say anything if they're guards will come in here and cause a ruckus." Kazuma opened his mouth to respond—BANG. The front door kick open. Both of them turned instantly. A squad of armored guards stormed into the mansion. Lantern light flooded the room. At the front of the group stood a woman, She appeared in a blue military uniform and, acting on cold logic. Her sharp eyes locked onto Kazuma immediately. "Kazuma Satou." Kazuma froze. "…Oh." "You are also suspected of illegally stealing relic-class artifacts." Kazuma slowly lowered his hand. "…Okay that part might be slightly true." she approached Kazuma to announce his arrest on charges of treason 'Alleging he was working with the Devil King' and hear by was initially convinced of youre guilt, nearly leading to execution. Ruko stepped forward. "This is getting quite ridiculous." She looked at him. "And you are?"

"Ruko. Ruko Satou." Recognition flashed in her eyes. "The adventurer who defeated three Devil King's generals." Ruko crossed his arms. "Yeah. So what's that up to you." "So maybe rethink this arrest." She shook her head calmly. "The investigation has already been approved." She raised her hand. "Guards." Several soldiers stepped forward to seize Kazuma.

Ruko moved instantly. He grabbed the nearest guard and slammed him into the floor. THUD. Another rushed him. Ruko elbowed him in the stomach and kicked his legs out from under him. Kazuma shouted. "BRO WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" "Fixing your fucking problem that you make!" More guards surrounded them. She frowned. "I warned you." Ruko cracked his knuckles. "Yeah well I don't listen very well so come at me." The soldiers rushed him at once. For a moment the room turned chaotic. Ruko knocked aside two guards with quick strikes, but more flooded in behind them. Someone swung a baton from behind. CRACK. Pain exploded across the back of Ruko's head. His vision blurred. He dropped to one knee. "Oh yeah. I forgot I'm just a weak human." Guards piled onto him immediately, forcing his arms behind his back.

Kazuma stared in horror. "…Yeah umm." He slowly raised his hands. "I'm definitely not escaping now." Iron cuffs snapped around his wrists. She watched calmly as both adventurers were restrained. "Kazuma Satou," she said. "You are detained under suspicion of treason whcixh we will investigate." She then glanced at Ruko. "And you are being detained for assaulting royal guards." Ruko groaned as they forced him to his feet. Kazuma sighed deeply. "…We're so screwed." The guards dragged both of them out of the mansion and into the quiet streets of Axel. Lantern light flickered as they were marched toward the town prison. And this time—There was no easy way out.
