White Beard tavern
Dane had bought a bowl of traveler stew. Which he had to definitely commend the tavern for. They knew how to cook. After such a long journey to get to Invidia this hit the spot in a way he did not expect.
Furthermore he learned some information from the nearby tables. Those sword duels throughout are most orchestrated by Swords Of Sanquilius, Swords Elites. Elite swordsmen that seek to grow their names in hopes of one day reaching the pinnacle of the sword, to understand sword qi and be a master.
But still oddly he hasn't heard of a sword master at all. Stranger yet, none of the sword Elites of which are bound to have the arrogant figures have ever called themselves a master. Even if calling oneself a master is perhaps a taboo in the city surely there are cases of this being tried no?
There was also mentions of a place called The Crooked Library and how the old witch there is famously known for her curses, or how they old magic guild in town should really reopen or something along those lines.
In fact he noted that magic in general seemed to be spoken with a weariness. What he hasn't figure out yet is where the guild halls of The Swords Of Sanquilius is. He wants to join bit has found it difficult.
Surely asking for directions would work, but he has had no luck with that. Do they not have guild halls? How does one join such a massively popular guild then?
They boast thousands of members. Where are these people going? Is it referrals? He truly could not glean the method. Perhaps he would have to ask one of these sword elites directly. That seems the only way.
He bought a room to sleep on it.
In the morning Dane went out to find himself a Sword Elite to get to the bottom of this once and for all. And he did not have to search for long. Down near the second black wall he saw several figures bearing the swords of Sanquilius attire. A white tunic with the logo of three swords stationed like stripes into the city of invidia with a nice olive branch at the base.
"Excuse me" he called out. Cause these figures to glance up. Closer he could see their attire had armor too. Sparse armor across joints save for their sword arms infact not all of them were dressed the same. The woman amongst them had sparse armor, likely an agility build?
There were two other behind her. A smaller fellow whom had armor along their shoulders. Plate but otherwise wore leather and chain. The lady next to him was fully plated and had a claymore, a huge sword. He was surprised she could even lift that. There was a fourth figure opposite of them. Half plate, rest is chain or studded leather.
Upon his inquiry. The half plate man smiled. "What can we help you with?" He asked rather kind.
Dane smiled not expecting the kind demeanor he pondered if this situation was a gang up. But it doesn't quite feel that way.
"I am new to the city and trying to join the Swords Of Sanquilius. But I can't find their guild halls, as a Sword Elite yourself.. how do I join?" He asked hopeful.
The half plate man smiled again. An outsider wishing to join the Swords Of Sanquilius?
"We don't have guild halls. At least not in the same sense. If you want to join you'll have to fight a Sword Elite and if they agree with it them we can go to the next steps to induct you." The half plate man did not waste more words he drew his long sword, its edge glinting with an almost silver sheen. It was beautifully taken care of. It had its wear and tear, noteworthy awareness of its use.
Dane wasn't one to waste on words either drawing his own sword. Its steel edge is ever so sharp. But this blade too has seen great use.
It is often said to know a swordsman is to use his blade. "Before we start.. maybe it knows your name?" Dane asked politely.
The half plate man grinned. "Good Good you have manners too. Names Darren. And yours?" He asked "Dane" Dane responded curtly.
