As the car slowly pulled away, Adrian glanced at the scene one last time, his eyes narrowed yet bright with clarity as he searched through the shadows.
He didn't know why, but he had the feeling someone had escaped their grasp and was definitely not simple.
After a moment, he shook his head and withdrew his stare from the window. "I will look into that later," he mused.
Then his gaze locked on the woman in his arms. The cut on her body had already healed, and much faster than the other time.
Her face was etched with exhaustion.
