As Sarah maneuvered the wheelchair through the heavy double doors of the law building and out into the fresh afternoon air, she paused for a moment to look at Noah.
She was about to ask him where he wanted to head for lunch when the muffled sound of a ringtone began to vibrate from within the depths of Noah's shoulder bag.
Noah reacted quickly, pulling the bag onto his lap and rummaging through the front pocket to retrieve his phone.
When he saw the name flashing on the screen, a genuine, bright smile broke across his face, instantly chasing away the lingering stress from the confrontation with Sebastian.
He swiped the screen to accept the call and spoke happily into the receiver. "Naya! Good afternoon. Are you also finished with your classes for the day?"
Naya's energetic voice crackled through the speaker, sounding clear and relieved. "Yeah, I am finally done with my lectures. Where are you right now, Noah?"
