Chapter 374: Mega Beedrill vs. Mewtwo
"RWOOAAAA!!!! —"
A roar like a thunderclap ripped through the mist. In the next heartbeat, a mountain-sized silhouette emerged from the gloom, looming over the coastal waters of Dragon Island.
The Giant Dragonite had arrived.
Its eyes burned with an ancient fury. Only seconds ago, the Armored Mewtwo it had been battling had suddenly clutched its head in a fit of agony before recklessly burning its energy to Teleport toward the shore.
Despite the Deity's massive size, it wasn't slow. By pushing its Extreme Speed to its physiological limit, it had trailed the psychic monster, arriving only seconds after the warp.
Mewtwo hovered in the air, its gaze cold as it scanned the battlefield, now occupied by Mega Beedrill and the Giant Dragonite.
It didn't move to attack immediately. Behind the armored god, a human figure floated in a nimbus of pale blue light—sustained by Mewtwo's telekinesis. It was a high-ranking Team Rocket Executive, recognizable by his ornate uniform.
After a moment of disorientation, the Executive spotted Mewtwo and his face lit up with a desperate hope. But then he looked around. He saw the mountain-sized Deity staring him down, the golden, lethal Mega Beedrill hovering nearby, and the shadowy form of a Mythical Darkrai waiting below.
His hope died instantly, replaced by a bowel-chilling terror. He began to scream, his voice cracking with hysteria.
"What are you waiting for?! GET ME OUT OF HERE!!! TAKE US BACK TO THE FLEET NOW!!!"
The mission was a total disaster. They hadn't neutralized the Deity, they hadn't captured a single dragon, and their clone army was being reaped like wheat. At this point, the Executive had only one goal: survival.
"You think you're going somewhere?"
Below, Darkrai's eye narrowed with a cold, mocking light.
SNAP.
In the next instant, a massive dome of monochromatic shadows swept across the sky, manifesting as a solid barrier that encased Mega Beedrill, Mewtwo, and the Deity.
Dark Void! And with it, the Shadow Tag ability flared to life.
Mewtwo's eyes flashed blue as it attempted to obey the Executive's command to Teleport. But the moment it tried to slip into the void, the Shadow Tag anchor yanked it back into reality. The "Nighmare Zone" had been established; within this space, the dimensions were locked.
Mewtwo whipped its head around to glare at Darkrai, its eyes burning with a dark, psychic fire.
It raised an arm, and a wave of raw mental energy slammed into the walls of the Dark Void barrier. The entire arena groaned under the pressure, the sound of tectonic plates grinding echoing through the air.
Darkrai's expression shifted, a flicker of genuine strain crossing its face as it fought to maintain the seal.
"WHAT?! Why aren't we moving??! Mewtwo! Stop playing around and LEAVE!!"
The Executive was now fully out of his mind with fear, screaming at the back of the god he "controlled."
Mewtwo's eyes flared with a sudden, sharp murderous intent. But just as quickly, its body convulsed. A visible surge of electricity rippled across the silver armor plating, and the creature let out a telepathic groan of agony. The limiter was working—suppressing its lethal instincts and its psychic output simultaneously.
"The armor..." its voice echoed in the minds of those present, a cold, distorted rasp. "My focus is restricted. Breaking this seal... will take time."
The Executive froze, staring at the silver plating. He realized too late that the harness they had built to control a God was now the very thing preventing their escape. He gritted his teeth, his face twisting in a snarl of desperation. "Then hurry up! OPEN IT! GET US OUT!!"
ZZZZZT!!!! —
Mega Beedrill wasn't interested in their conversation. It rocketed forward, a golden spear aimed at the armored chest.
Mewtwo reacted with the speed of thought. Its staggering mental capacity detected the threat long before the insect made contact. It decisively abandoned the attempt to break the barrier and turned to defend itself.
It raised a hand, and a shimmering prismatic shield flared into existence.
Reflect!
KRA-KOOM!!!! —
Fell Stinger!!
With a thunderous explosion, Mega Beedrill's primary lance slammed into the barrier.
SHATTER!!! —
The audience in the distance gasped. The Reflect shield—the same defense that had casually tanked a Dragon Pulse from the Deity—exploded into a thousand shimmering shards.
Mega Beedrill's "Dimensional Shattering" pierce had completely ignored the Master-rank defense. Its momentum didn't slow; it drove its lance forward toward Mewtwo's throat.
Beneath the visor, Mewtwo's pupils shrank. In a desperate burst, it used a localized Teleport to vacating the space, reappearing a split second later behind Beedrill.
It unleashed a massive Psychic wave, its will locking onto the insect with crushing force.
Mega Beedrill didn't stay to be pinned. Harnessing its absolute speed, it performed a high-G turn, the sonic boom from its movement shattering the incoming psychic wave before it could take hold.
Mewtwo hovered, its breathing slightly ragged. It stared at Mega Beedrill with genuine surprise.
My barrier... broken by a bug?
"RWOOAAAA!!!! —"
A new, furious roar echoed from the direction of the island.
A streak of yellow light blurred across the sky. In the blink of an eye, a second Dragonite burst into the "Nightmare Zone." It arrived with the force of a hurricane, its fist wreathed in energy as it swung at Mewtwo.
BANG!!! —
Mewtwo raised a hand, conjuring a new Reflect. The punch was blocked, but the impact pushed the telepath back several meters.
The newcomer hovered, revealing its identity. It was a standard-sized Dragonite, but it carried an aura of immense age and power.
"It's the Patriarch's partner!!!"
On the shores of Dragon Island, the surviving defenders cheered.
Following the dragon, a second silhouette emerged from the island—another Dragonite, this one carrying a hunched, elderly man. It was the head of the Namgung family.
The old man scanned the battlefield. He saw that the clone army had been largely neutralized by Kenji's reapers. But the battle between the three masters was just beginning.
"RWOOAAAA!!! —"
The Giant Dragonite Deity let out a booming roar. It didn't join the three-way brawl between Mega Beedrill, the Patriarch's Dragonite, and Mewtwo.
Instead, it raised its mountain-sized hands.
Wide Guard!!!
A colossal, shimmering golden curtain of energy expanded from the Deity, completely enveloping Dragon Island.
The Deity had realized the truth: the power being unleashed in this "Nightmare Zone" was too high. If those three Master-rank entities truly began trading ultimate moves, the shockwaves alone would sink the island and kill his people.
He would hold the line for them. He would be the shield, while the three "warriors" decided the fate of the world.
