Chapter 396 - Chapter 386: Matsuma? No, Giovanni!

Chapter 386: Matsuma? No, Giovanni!

Kenji took a deep breath. After a moment of hesitation, he stepped onto the

battlefield. However, he didn't recall Darkrai or Ninetales; they remained by

his side as a personal guard.

Seeing Kenji take his position in the trainer's box, the stony mask of Matsuma's

face finally broke into a small, chilling smile. A section of the floor beside

him slid open, and a mechanical pedestal rose, displaying six identical Poké

Balls.

The balls were custom-made, matte black with a vibrant red R embossed over the

center.

Matsuma picked up the first one and tossed it casually.

"Go, Nidoking!!"

POP!!! —

The ball burst mid-air, and a massive purple silhouette slammed onto the field.

"NIDO!!!! —"

Nidoking let out a guttural, earth-shaking roar as it stomped the ground,

radiating a fierce, aggressive aura.

[Nidoking] Gender: Male Level: 99 (Champion Peak) Type: Poison / Ground Ability:

Sheer Force Potential: S

Kenji's eyes narrowed. As expected of the man behind the R-Organization, his

strength was no joke. He had led with an S-Rank, Level 99 monster right out of

the gate.

But...

If Kenji remembered correctly, in the original stories of his past life, the

leader of Team Rocket's primary partner was also a Nidoking.

Kenji looked at the golden insect hovering by his side.

"Go, Beedrill."

"Siii..."

Against Matsuma, Kenji had no intention of playing the long game. He wanted to

end this as quickly as possible, so he led with his absolute Ace.

After months of intensive training, Beedrill had reached Level 98.

While it might still struggle against an unchained Mewtwo, an ordinary

Master-rank Pokémon was no longer a threat. Even if it had to face Grandma Liu's

Mega Gengar again, Kenji was confident the fight wouldn't be nearly as desperate

as the first time.

The room was silent. There was no referee to wave a flag or announce the start.

There was only the low hum of the tower's generators and the heavy breathing of

the combatants.

"Nidoking!! Rock Tomb!"

"NIDO!!! —"

Matsuma struck first. With a wave of its claws, Nidoking summoned dozens of

massive boulders in the air around Beedrill, which then plummeted toward the

insect.

Beedrill remained suspended in the air, its wings a high-speed blur. It didn't

dodge the incoming barrage.

Just as the rocks were about to crush it, a series of sharp, high-pitched cracks

echoed through the room.

The boulders reaching Beedrill's personal space were instantly pulverized into

fine dust, raining down like harmless sand.

Matsuma narrowed his eyes, watching the exchange with genuine interest. His gaze

focused on Beedrill's wings.

Indeed, during its seclusion, Beedrill had evolved its "Super Speed" state even

further.

Now, when it hit maximum velocity, its wings didn't just provide lift; they

acted as a high-frequency acoustic generator. They whipped out thousands of

microscopic, nearly invisible wind blades in a 360-degree radius.

Beedrill was currently encased in a localized "Meat Grinder" of air pressure.

Anything that entered that zone—be it a move or a physical Pokémon—would be

systematically shredded into nothingness.

Of course, this technique wasn't a "win-button" against opponents of its own

caliber, but against a Nidoking, it was an absolute defense.

SWISH!!!! —

Beedrill flickered. Its silhouette vanished from its spot.

It was like a gust of wind blowing across the arena—silent, invisible, and

instant. In the time it took to blink, it had traveled the length of the field

and appeared directly in front of Nidoking.

It raised a single lance, which began to spin with enough torque to generate a

vacuum.

Drill Run!!!

KRA-KOOM!!!! —

In the next heartbeat, Nidoking was launched backward. It traveled over twenty

meters before slamming into the energy barrier, sliding to the floor in a heap.

It was out cold.

Matsuma's expression didn't flicker. He calmly recalled the fallen Nidoking and

reached for his next ball, releasing a Rhyperior.

Rhyperior, the final evolution of Rhyhorn. Rock/Ground type.

Like the Nidoking, it was Level 99.

It was then that Kenji finally realized the pattern.

R-Organization. Mewtwo. And now this roster. Nidoking. Rhyperior.

Matsuma wasn't just "like" Giovanni. He was a perfect localized mirror of the

legendary Earth-master.

And if Kenji's memory served him right, the most terrifying weapon in Giovanni's

arsenal wasn't a Golem or a Rhydon. It was a Beedrill. A Beedrill so powerful it

could trade blows with Legendary Gods without needing a Mega Stone.

Kenji's own Beedrill was a monster because he had "cheated," using the System to

drag its base stats into the 800s.

But Giovanni's Beedrill was a monster because of the Viridian Power.

Viridian Power: A mystical gift that allowed the user to harmonize with Pokémon

souls, heal their wounds, and—most importantly—help them break past the natural

limitations of their species. It was a "God-tier" buff in its own right.

Kenji's curiosity was now burning hotter than his caution. He wanted to see how

his System-enhanced legend compared to the product of Viridian Power.

Driven by this new competitive fire, Kenji stopped holding back. Beedrill became

a force of pure destruction.

It was a horizontal sweep.

Matsuma sent out Kangaskhan, Ursaluna, and finally, the Pseudo-Legendary

Hydreigon.

All five were Level 99. All five were dismantled by Beedrill within seconds.

As the Hydreigon collapsed, Matsuma was down to his last partner.

He reached for the final ball on the pedestal.

"Go!! Beedrill!!!"

Red light hit the field. As it faded, a second Beedrill appeared.

But this one was different. While Kenji's Beedrill was a custom-colored,

aerodynamic mutant, Matsuma's partner looked... completely ordinary. In terms of

color and shape, it looked like a common weed-bee you could find in any forest.

Matsuma's Beedrill buzzed low, its compound eyes cold and focused as it stared

at its rival.

Kenji's heart raced. He activated his Data Eye.

[Beedrill] Gender: Male Level: 100 (Master-rank) Type: Bug / Poison Ability:

Sniper Potential: Limit

Kenji's breath hitched. Even a Pokémon blessed by the Sacred Flame of Ho-Oh

usually capped at S+ Potential.

Yet this common insect had reached the Limit.

This wasn't a level of power any "natural" Beedrill could ever achieve. Matsuma

truly did possess a power that could overwrite the biological limits of the

world.

Matsuma watched Kenji's face, tracing the flicker of shock in the boy's eyes.

Matsuma's Beedrill moved first. It didn't use a flashy combo; it lunged with a

simple, perfectly executed X-Scissor.

Kenji didn't back down. He ordered his partner to meet the challenge head-on.

"X-Scissor!!"

Both Pokémon moved at speeds that tore the air. Within a millisecond, the two

master insects collided in the center of the arena.
