A Vivre Card was a special item, found only in the New World. It was impervious to both water and fire, made by mixing one's own fingernails into the material. It was a piece of paper that represented its owner's life force.
Typically, people would give a torn piece of it to a loved one or a friend before parting ways. The torn pieces would always point toward each other, allowing them to reunite in the more complex and ever-changing environment of the New World.
Over time, it had also come to be used as a kind of "Eternal Pose" for the New World.
All the Empress (Ship) had to do was follow the direction of the Vivre Card.
