"Nonsense!"
After hearing Tsunade's report, the Third Hokage slammed his palm on the table. "Sending three inexperienced young talents for information from an unclear source is like playing with their lives!"
"And don't forget—the Chunin Exams are coming soon. Itsuki and the others are contestants who have passed the preliminary trials."
"They should use this time to improve themselves. Otherwise, if something unexpected happens… what will happen to the competition?"
"Of course, if the information is accurate, another Uzumaki clan member with powerful sealing skills could be a boon for Konoha. Give me the address, and I'll send an elite team to investigate."
"If the situation is as you say, an ordinary Chunin team cannot handle it. At least an experienced Jonin must lead the team to ensure they can escape safely."
"The isolated island experimental base overseas may involve one of the Five Great Nations. Most likely the Land of Thunder or the Land of Water—it lies within their waters. Mishandling this could trigger a diplomatic incident."
"Old man!" Tsunade slammed her palm on the table. "I don't have time to argue. I'm not here to debate—I'm here to inform you!"
"I care about Itsuki's safety more than anyone. I believe he's the right person for this mission. There's no one more suitable. You don't have to worry—just approve it!"
The Third Hokage froze at the scolding. Indeed, this was Tsunade—she showed him no respect at all.
"Hurry up, I have other matters. Just stamp the document." Tsunade urged repeatedly.
The Third Hokage sighed.
Seeing that she wouldn't back down, he rubbed his temple. "Fine… we'll add one more person and let Tenzo lead the team. If you still don't agree…"
"That's enough!" Tsunade agreed immediately.
She had met Tenzo before and knew he cared for Itsuki more than anyone besides her, so she didn't hesitate.
The Third Hokage sighed and stamped the document.
This mission was issued by Tsunade personally and would not be counted in the village's mission organization.
Any compensation would have to be requested directly from her. Of course, successful completion would still enhance the team's personal record.
"Sarutobi-sensei…" Before leaving, Tsunade opened her mouth but then stopped.
The Third Hokage felt flattered. He hadn't been called that in years. What was Tsunade thinking?
"Never mind, it's nothing!" She turned and strode away, leaving the Third Hokage staring after her, puzzled.
"Are you worried about my health?" he wondered aloud. After all, Tsunade was a medical genius.
Rubbing his head, he smiled bitterly. "I'm getting old. Lately, I've felt powerless… my heart palpitates too often. I always feel my end is near."
"But the village has a bright future. The younger generation is full of energy. I want to see what they become… if I can hold on a few more years."
He stood, hands behind his back, staring at the Hokage Rock with a deep gaze.
Not long after, Tenzo, Itsuki, Karin, and Yakumo gathered at the Konoha gate.
"Do you know the mission details?" Tenzo asked, his expression solemn.
This mission was dangerous, potentially involving many unknown factors. Even he had only undertaken a few S-rank missions.
Fortunately, everyone on the team was skilled and capable of completing such a high-level task.
Itsuki and the others nodded.
Tenzo spread out a map. "The mission location is far, and time is short. We'll have little chance to rest along the way. Yakumo, can you keep up?"
Yakumo hesitated briefly but nodded resolutely. After learning what had happened to Honoka, she wanted to contribute.
Itsuki said, "It's fine. If she gets tired, I'll carry her. Physical stamina won't be an issue."
Tenzo didn't object. After confirming directions and itinerary, he waved. "Then, let's go!"
Swish, swish, swish!
The team left immediately, racing toward their destination.
At the same time, Yugao and the others had also taken action.
Yugao focused entirely on Hayate's safety, ignoring the chat group.
Kurenai and Anko, learning the situation, felt reassured knowing Itsuki was rushing to rescue people.
Through her Anbu connections, Yugao quickly discovered Hayate's destination: Kikyo Castle.
It was a town in the Land of Fire, close to the Land of Wind, serving as a temporary base for Sand Village contestants.
With the Chunin Exam preliminaries a month away, they couldn't remain idle in Konoha.
Temporary residence at Kikyo City made communication with the village easier and allowed them to meet visitors from other regions.
Shortly after the preliminaries ended, Kabuto Yakushi ran to the hospital and attacked Anbu monitoring Sasuke.
Failing, he left Konoha and headed for Kikyo Castle.
Hayate naturally followed him in secret.
Although Hinata or Karin could have tracked him more efficiently, Yugao didn't want to put the girls in danger.
Instead, Kurenai and Anko accompanied her, forming a three-person team to pursue Kabuto.
Tsunade followed behind with Itsuki's team, based on information from the chat group.
At night, in Kikyo Castle, Gaara sat atop a roof, restless and irritable.
Whenever the full moon appeared, Shukaku inside him became agitated.
Not far away lay a tattered corpse—the Sound Ninja Doss, who had come to provoke Gaara without realizing the consequences.
Originally, Doss had hoped to challenge Gaara in the Chunin Tournament to secure a Sasuke match, but he had been eliminated early.
In reality, Kabuto Yakushi only wanted to observe Shukaku's power. Doss became an unwitting victim.
"It's amazing… I didn't expect his true form to be like this." Kabuto murmured in awe.
"That's Shukaku, the One-Tail!"
"Is this okay?" Baki asked. "He's from Otogakure…"
"It's fine. He's useless now. The order to capture Sasuke was given long ago, but I failed. Hehe…" Kabuto scratched his head, embarrassed. "Besides, they already know I'm a spy for the Sound Ninja."
"Then if Konoha knew you were meeting me, wouldn't that ruin your plan to destroy Konoha?" Baki glared. "Orochimaru's right-hand was discovered, yet you still meet me? How stupid!"
"You were also discovered by Kusagakure. Same for us," Kabuto adjusted his glasses. "Technically, they didn't discover me—I did it on purpose."
"I want to test Konoha's reaction. Sasuke will be ours eventually."
"Kusagakure is a side player, not critical to the plan. But if you fail, we'll stop immediately. This was originally Otogakure's mission." Baki reminded him.
"Sunagakure cannot take the lead. Lord Kazekage has instructed."
Kabuto didn't respond, handing over a scroll. "Here's the plan. Time to inform them. Leave the aftermath to me—I want to see who's already taking action…"
"No, I'll do it!" Baki volunteered. "Since he's our comrade, Sunagakure should help! Besides, he's just a rat—it's easy!"
