Song Jie looked down at Ai Tutu in his arms and noticed that her complexion was gradually improving.
Apparently—
the Demon Blood was suppressing the poison in her body.
Seeing this, Song Jie finally breathed a sigh of relief. He only hoped that Ai Tutu would wake up soon.
Before long, the pain and strain faded from her expression, and her breathing became steady once more.
"Tu Tu?" Song Jie called softly.
No response.
"Tu Tu?" he tried again, leaning closer.
Still nothing.
Song Jie sighed, then said playfully, "If you don't wake up soon, I'm going to strip your clothes off."
Suddenly—
Whack!
Ai Tutu's eyes flew open, and she threw a punch straight into Song Jie's face.
It was a good thing he was still in his Demonification state; otherwise, that hit would've left him bruised for a week.
As they descended from the sky, the demonic aura around Song Jie faded away.
"You're awake?" he asked.
Ai Tutu nodded, blinking as she took in her surroundings. The dim light startled her, and she immediately wrapped her arms around Song Jie's neck.
"Song Jie, where are we?"
"You were poisoned earlier. I was about to take you back for treatment," Song Jie explained.
"Poisoned?" Ai Tutu's memory slowly returned, and her eyes widened. "So I really was poisoned! No wonder I felt so terrible—I thought I was going to die!"
"Do you still feel any pain or discomfort?" Song Jie asked gently.
Ai Tutu shook her head. "No, I feel fine now."
"Good. We'll still head back and have you checked, just in case," Song Jie said.
He summoned his Wind Riding Sky Eagle once again, while Li Rui returned to Song Jie's Dimensional Space. Together, he and Ai Tutu took off toward the city.
"Song Jie," Ai Tutu suddenly asked, "did I punch you just now?"
"No."
"No? Because I remember hearing someone say they were going to take off my clothes! Then I punched them!" Ai Tutu said, a bit too proudly.
Song Jie smirked. "You must've dreamed that."
"Really? It felt so real though, like I really hit someone!" Ai Tutu waved her small fist at the air as if testing it again.
Watching her return to her usual spirited self, Song Jie finally felt his tension ease.
"Song Jie, why was that person after you?" Ai Tutu asked curiously.
"He was from the Black Vatican."
Ai Tutu's eyes widened. She knew well what kind of people they were—ruthless killers, feared by all Mages.
"How did you even get involved with them?"
"It's a long story. I'll tell you on the way."
As they flew, Song Jie explained everything—how things began in Bo City, what he had faced since then, and why the Black Vatican wanted him dead.
"So that's how it is," Ai Tutu said, touching her chin thoughtfully. "No wonder they went after you."
"This was because of me," Song Jie said seriously. "I'll make sure nothing like this happens again."
Ai Tutu looked at his solemn expression. For a moment, it really did feel like a scene out of a romantic drama. Her cheeks flushed pink.
"Then since I've gone through so much for you, you can't bully me anymore!" Ai Tutu said, crossing her arms.
"Bullying you will definitely still happen," Song Jie replied with a faint smile.
"Song Jie!!" Ai Tutu puffed her cheeks and slammed a small fist into his chest.
When they returned to the city, Song Jie took Ai Tutu to get checked. The results came back normal—no lingering effects of poison.
Afterward, they returned to the rented apartment.
Ai Tutu immediately dashed to the sofa, threw herself onto it, propped her long legs on the coffee table, and stretched like a queen on her throne.
"Little Songzi, bring me that drink," she commanded with a grin.
"Yes, Your Highness!" Song Jie said with mock obedience. He had promised her earlier that she could boss him around for a day.
He handed her a chilled bottle of strawberry soda.
Ai Tutu took a sip, then sighed dramatically. "Oh, my shoulders are sore. Little Songzi, massage them for me!"
"Yes, Your Highness."
Song Jie came behind her. He really didn't want to look—but there was no escaping it.
Sin! Pure sin!
"Little Songzi," Ai Tutu said suspiciously, "why does your massage feel so half-hearted?"
He wanted to be serious, but how could anyone concentrate under these circumstances?!
Before he could answer, Ai Tutu said suddenly, "Song Jie, I think my Plant Element feels… different."
"Huh? What kind of change?"
"It's too late now. Let's test it tomorrow at the Magic Combat Arena."
"Alright."
The next morning.
Ai Tutu wanted to invite Mu Nujiao to join them, but Mu Nujiao was still deep in cultivation. So Ai Tutu went with Song Jie instead.
At the Combat Arena, Ai Tutu released her Plant Element magic.
Thick green vines burst from the ground, radiating vitality—but they also looked incredibly tough, far more resilient than before.
"Song Jie, try attacking them. I feel like your magic might not even break through!" Ai Tutu said with a confident grin.
Song Jie chuckled and unleashed a first-tier Intermediate Radiance toward the vines.
The result—
no effect.
The vines didn't even flinch.
Ai Tutu gasped, eyes sparkling with excitement.
Song Jie frowned slightly. Could it be because of Demon Blood?
Had Ai Tutu's Plant Element mutated because of it?
He tried again, using second-tier Intermediate Radiance—still nothing.
Only when he unleashed a third-tier Intermediate Radiance, with power near the peak of the level, did the vines finally break apart.
Their toughness was insane!
Ai Tutu jumped for joy, raising both fists in the air.
Song Jie silently asked Li Rui in his mind, and the answer came: Ai Tutu's Plant Element had indeed mutated due to the Demon Blood.
But the probability of that happening was so low—less than one in a million!
"Song Jie, thank you!" Ai Tutu said sincerely, walking over with a bright smile.
"Thank me for what? This is your own opportunity," Song Jie replied. "Maybe the toxins caused a special reaction with your Plant Element."
Ai Tutu nodded, fully convinced.
Song Jie could only sigh.
Then Ai Tutu placed her hands on her hips, tilted her head back, and laughed loudly toward the sky.
"Hahaha! I, Ai Tutu, am going to make it big!"
Time passed quickly.
The students of Qing Campus were preparing for the Main Campus Assessment.
"Song Jie, we're gathering now! Don't forget our bet!" Ai Tutu called as she joined Mu Nujiao.
Mu Nujiao raised an eyebrow. "Bet? What did you two bet on this time?"
"Hehe! He said he could guess what this year's assessment will be. If he's wrong, I win!" Ai Tutu said proudly.
Mu Nujiao glanced at Song Jie, a hint of amusement in her eyes. "You really think you can guess it?"
Song Jie just smiled. "Jiao Jiao, want to come with us before it starts?"
