Top Floor, Sector Security.
Two security officers walked side by side down the empty corridor.
"Did you hear? They say someone from Satellite snuck in recently." Security Officer A remarked casually.
Security Officer B was surprised. "Seriously? From Satellite? How'd they even make it over here?"
Officer A replied, "Apparently, they came through the garbage disposal tunnels. That's one gutsy son of a gun. Just a nobody from Satellite, but sure has some nerve."
"True," Officer B agreed. "When was the last time you heard of someone trying to make it from the Satellite? Wasn't it that Daedalus Bridge incident?"
"Oh, the guy who wanted to leap over the bridge? That was just a rumor made up by the people down there, right? Who would be stupid enough to think you could just build a bridge and leap over from Satellite?" Officer A scoffed.
"Sounds like the kind of nonsense Satellite folks tell kids."
The two chatted as they walked, completely oblivious to a shadow silently approaching behind them.
The figure closed in, reached out, and pressed both officers' heads down—using the classic "head-smash" move. With a crisp thud, their heads collided. Their vision went black and they collapsed limply to the floor, unconscious before they could react.
Kira dusted off his hands and looked at the two unconscious officers at his feet.
"You should thank me," he muttered to himself.
If these two were caught chatting about this at Security headquarters and their boss, Goodwin, overheard… at best they'd just get penalized; at worst, they might just vanish by tomorrow.
What the two didn't realize was that the so-called "idiot" who tried to leap across the Daedalus Bridge was none other than their boss—Goodwin himself.
This was a little-known secret: Goodwin, the highest-ranking officer in Security, was actually born in Satellite. He was the legendary man who tried to build a bridge from Satellite to the New Domino City, and for years, people in Satellite saw him as a symbol of resistance and freedom.
But no one knew that the symbol of rebellion became the head of oppression, or that the noble head at the top of the power pyramid was actually from the most despised area in the whole city.
Kira continued down the corridor, asking, "You three are sure you sensed something odd?"
A ball of black energy separated from him, taking the form of a miniature "The Wicked Eraser."
"That's right," Eraser rumbled, "It's faint, but it's definitely that guy's presence. The one who approached us before, promising to break our seal—a being from another world. That same aura is here, inside this building."
Kira pondered.
The one who seduced the Wicked Gods into breaking their seal was suspected to be linked to Zorc, who was supposed to be destroyed. Yet, that similar aura now appeared here—a world and timeline where Zorc shouldn't exist.
If this was true, it sounded very much like a historical anomaly.
"But I am surprised. The three of you are actually willing to help me? I thought our relationship was still strained."
Kira glanced at Eraser's phantom.
Eraser snorted proudly.
"Don't get it wrong. We're not helping you," Eraser said coldly. "We still have unfinished business."
His tone grew even darker.
"But if it really is that guy, we have unfinished business with him too. This time, we want to know exactly what his goal is."
Eraser shot a glare at Kira.
"Don't flatter yourself that we're helping you. Our interests just happen to align. That's all."
Kira chuckled. "Alright, I won't misunderstand."
He moved on. It was late enough that all the office workers had already clocked out, so the Sector Security was nearly empty. Kira moved through the halls unimpeded.
Arriving at the head's office, he spotted the clown-like Lazar just entering.
(Author's Note: Kira still remembers the 5DS characters. Early on, Lazar seemed important, always cackling beside boss Goodwin, acting like he knew everything and hiding his true intentions. But after Goodwin's collapse, it turned out he knew nothing and was just a sycophant, doing whatever it took to feed his large family.)
Kira followed quietly, soon overhearing Goodwin's voice.
"Take care of him."
He heard Goodwin's order.
"That man called Yusei Fudo."
Kira was genuinely surprised.
Goodwin wanted Yusei killed?
But Kira recalled that Goodwin's true aim was to gather the five Signers and challenge the Dark Signers controlling the Earthbound Immortal—to absorb both sides' powers and surpass the gods themselves.
If he killed Yusei, how would he achieve that plan?
So, history had already started to shift.
Kira listened a bit longer but heard nothing else of value. A few minutes later, Lazar left the office.
Less than a minute after Lazar went downstairs—
Boom!
The wall exploded as if an invisible fist had burst from the head's room, blasting through the corridor—right where Kira was hiding.
Goodwin stood with his arm raised, expressionless, staring at the hole in the wall and the drifting smoke.
Kira dusted off the soot, walked out through the smoke, and stood silently, staff in hand, shielded by a transparent magic circle. He watched Goodwin warily.
Goodwin stared back for a moment, frowning. "You're not from this world."
Kira looked him in the eye. "And you're not Goodwin."
Goodwin didn't deny it. He slowly raised his arm, activating his Duel Disk.
"Whoever you are, since you know too much, you're not leaving here alive."
Kira smiled, raising his own Duel Disk.
"You know, if I got a hundred bucks every time someone told me that, I'd be rich by now. Oh wait—I already am. Never mind."
"Duel!" ×2
[Kira, LP4000]
[Goodwin, LP4000]
"I'll go first, then."
"My turn—draw!"
"I set a monster in face-down defense, set one card, and end my turn."
Goodwin: "My turn."
Drawing a card mechanically, he calmly played a card from his hand.
"If your opponent controls a monster and you don't, special summon this card.
Appear—'Oracle of the Sun'!"
