"Now we can talk, right? 999 tons of gold! Leave the Straw Hat Pirates and join my pirate group as a navigator. How about that?!"
Victor knew Nami wouldn't betray Luffy and the others, but he still had to try. After all, Nami was famously money-grubbing. If she showed any hesitation, she would be kidnapped on the spot.
He just hoped his behavior wouldn't be considered a bug.
"What!? 999 tons of gold!? That's a lot of berries!!"
Nami's beautiful eyes sparkled.

"Give me half of the gold as a guarantee first, then I'll think about it!"
She stretched out her jade hands, speaking in an extremely sweet, pure tone.
"As expected of a little thief, you really don't do business at a loss. Can you carry 499 tons of gold?"
"No, no, no! It's 499.5 tons! Not a single berry off!"
Nami waved her slender fingers like a stingy merchant.
Victor almost vomited blood. Nami was worthy of her reputation—stingy, money-loving, and full of personality.
Still… Victor could see she had no intention of abandoning her companions. If she were really tempted, her first reaction would be guilt, not excitement for gold.
Although Nami loved money, her bond with friends mattered more—similar to Zoro's goal of becoming the world's greatest swordsman.

"Den Den Mushi still can't contact Snake Princess and Victor!?"
Inside the Kingdom's war room, New Granny, the interim governor, was furious.
Why go out to sea?! Why become a pirate?! The kingdom was in crisis, and they couldn't contact the emperor!
"We've been in contact! Granny New, according to intelligence, the Navy fleet is about to enter the doldrums!"
Kikyo, the female warrior of the Nine Snakes and captain of the Amazon Lily National Guard, reported sternly.
"Can't you contact the two imperial sisters and the Nine Snakes Pirates?"
"Cannot! But all ninety-nine anti-aircraft guns surrounding the island have been debugged!"
"Good fortune never comes alone, and misfortune never comes singly. Is the fate of the kingdom solely dependent on the weapons left by Victor? Keep using Den Den Mushi to contact Snake Princess and the others!"
Grandma New sighed. She hadn't expected the Navy to act against Daughter Island so quickly, even dispatching a new marshal in person. Could Victor and She Ji have caused trouble again?
