After the barrage of thunder, only seven of the remaining 18 CP0 members were left alive, aside from the two already killed by Victor.
Five survived outside the core ruins. CP0, the World Government's top intelligence organization and known as "the strongest shield of the Celestial Dragons," had never suffered such heavy losses in any mission.
Meanwhile, the core ruins had become a vast lake. Even though Victor and Robin, as Devil Fruit users, were submerged in the seawater, they should have perished without a doubt.
For the seven surviving CP0 members, the mission was far from over.
The Celestial Dragons' highest authority had made their orders clear:
"The Pirate God Victor—bring him back alive or dead. If alive, he will be executed in Marinfando to vent Kami's wrath. If dead, his body will be displayed at Navy Headquarters for 300 days as a warning to pirates."
With Sabo occupied fighting Aokiji, CP0 sent five non-Devil Fruit members into the water to search for Victor. Rob Lucci and Spandam remained on guard outside the core ruins.
"Thunder didn't kill you, rubbish!"
Rob Lucci glared at Spandam. The white robe he wore had been shredded by electricity, and the pigeon on his shoulder was almost roasted alive.
Spandam had retreated when the thunderclouds gathered, terrified of death. He had been outside the spiderweb when the thunder struck, hundreds of meters away, yet he still looked utterly embarrassed.
"What a… rubbish…"
Spandam could only smile awkwardly. He had no desire to argue with Lucci now. Once promoted, he planned to find a thousand ways to get back at him.
He silently prayed that Victor and Enel were dead, but Robin survived, so he could torment her as revenge for his failure on Judicial Island.
The five CP0 members who searched the water had completed their first sweep.
They panicked. There was no trace of Victor or the others!
Could it be that even seawater had no effect on this terrifying pirate?
Finally, one CP0 member skilled in tracking found dragging marks along the seabed. Following them, he discovered a secret passage leading directly beneath the water…
"Mr. Victor, this is a spherical stone carving. According to our research, it doesn't appear to have any cultural value."
An elderly archaeologist guided Victor and Enel to the stone carving.
"Cultural value? Of course not," Victor murmured. It's just a storage spot for a Devil Fruit; what cultural value could it have?
"Mr. Victor, what did you say?"
"Ah, I mean, this stone may not have cultural value, but it could be useful to me. Can you give it to me?"
The archaeologists understood immediately what he meant by "transfer."
"Mr. Victor, you promised to protect this island. We cannot offer anything else in return. Even this stone carving, or a precious relic, would be nothing compared to that!"
The elder's voice was firm. They were still cautious, hoping Victor would accept the stone carving voluntarily.
"Thank you, but I won't take the stone carving."
Victor nodded. These archaeologists were wise and careful.
Still, he couldn't help shuddering when thinking of the mother and daughter kneeling before him earlier. The emotional impact was immense.
"Captain, what are you doing? Is this thing worth wasting time on? We need to fight back! Sabo is still outside!"
Enel yawned, suddenly remembering Sabo. He had a good impression of him—the first person to acknowledge him as the God of Thunder.
Victor blinked. In the chaos of entering the base, he had almost forgotten about his "quasi-sworn brother" Sabo.
Though powerful, Sabo was no match for Aokiji. Victor had to act quickly.
He extended a finger, sending a precise electric current into the spherical stone carving. White smoke immediately emerged.
According to the system's clue, a Devil Fruit was inside. Victor had to carefully control the current; too strong, and he would destroy both the carving and the fruit.
Meanwhile, in the base's main hall…
"Devil's Son Nico Robin, Lucci and Spandam have gathered intelligence. All these people are remnants of O'Hara!"
"While Victor is nowhere to be found, kill him!"
"The primordial stone is ready!"
Scholars devoted to archaeology now faced a deadly crisis.
CP0 had killed several guards at the ground passage and broke into the hall.
Robin's face was solemn as she frantically activated her Hana-Hana Fruit powers.
As a child, she had been powerless during O'Hara's destruction. Now, she risked her life to protect these archaeologists who shared her origin.

Despite her determination, Robin could handle only one CP0 member at a time. There were five. She was quickly overpowered.
"Control Nico Robin first!"
Two flying finger guns targeted Robin's vital points.
"Careful!"
At the critical moment, Jiuxiang pushed Robin aside—but her shoulders were pierced.
"Jiu Xiang sister!!!"
Robin cried, tears sliding down her face. She caught the seriously injured Jiuxiang in her arms. Fortunately, both were flexible; the impact was partially absorbed.
Jiuxiang's body was severely wounded, yet her eyes still held hope. She whispered to Robin:
"Neil has gone to find Victor. Just hold on a little longer… everything will be fine…"
