Just then, a meteor streaked across the sky at an incredibly fast speed, arriving above the venue in the blink of an eye.
Bang!
The newcomer was Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers.
Unlike her older counterpart in the parallel Universe, this Captain Marvel was younger, more vibrant, like a blooming rose—beautiful yet dangerous.
The moment Tom saw her, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. The Captain Marvel in his intelligence reports didn't look like this. It seemed to be a result of differences in the parallel Universe.
However, as long as there wasn't much difference in her personality, it wouldn't affect the plan.
"Nick Fury, what are you doing?"
Carol asked, looking at Fury's disheveled appearance, confused.
In her opinion, Fury didn't seem to be in danger, and a speech seemed to be taking place here.
"Carol, get me out of here!"
Fury came to Carol's side.
He couldn't stay on Earth any longer; his only way out was to go to another Planet with Carol.
"What happened? I can help you solve it."
Carol looked calm. She had experienced countless wars, big and small, in the Universe and had rescued countless oppressed races. In her heart, there was nothing on Earth that she couldn't solve.
"Carol Danvers."
Tom shouted loudly, successfully attracting Carol's attention.
"I've heard of your name, Captain Marvel.
The well-known savior of the Universe, who helps residents of other Planets, protects the peace of the Universe, and helps the Skrulls find a new home."
Hearing the first part, the audience thought this woman was also a superhero, but upon hearing the last sentence, everyone's eyes instantly changed.
"That's me, who are you?"
Carol also noticed the surrounding gazes, her expression unchanged. This was the confidence brought by her formidable strength.
Fury was about to speak, but suddenly his eyes glazed over, and his mind went blank: What was I going to say?
"I am just an Earthling.
I've always had two questions I wanted to ask you: Why did you settle the Skrulls on Earth?
As an Earthling, why don't you protect Earth while protecting the Universe, not even providing a tiny piece of technology?"
Carol frowned. She wasn't stupid and naturally understood the intention of the person in front of her.
But she also disdained lying.
Tom wasn't surprised. Speaking of which, he was very good at dealing with such people.
"Can this make you answer my questions?"
He pressed his finger to his earpiece and said,
"Start, Dr. Zola."
The image on the large screen behind him changed.
A huge metal cell appeared before everyone, filled with densely packed green-skinned people, both old and young, with countless machine guns extending from the surrounding walls.
Bang!
The floor beneath Carol's feet shattered, and a powerful energy reaction appeared on her body, her face grim.
"Where are they!"
"I don't know, that's not my responsibility.
If you kill me, they will die.
If you fly away now, they will die.
But if you answer my questions, they can live."
A cold, almost imperceptible smile hung on Tom's lips, a smile that concealed unfathomable calculation and disdain.
Fury's wife watched the screen above, weeping.
The surrounding audience also held their breath, waiting for Carol's answer.
The reporters' fingers were cramping from pressing the shutter buttons; today's big news was coming one after another, truly shocking.
Carol gritted her teeth, her body's energy surging like a turbulent wave, yet she forcefully suppressed it, mindful of the Skrulls' safety.
She took a deep breath and slowly began:
"The Skrulls are refugees; they are hunted by the Kree and have almost no place to live in the Universe.
I promised to help them find a home. Earth is a temporary haven, and Nick Fury and I are continuously looking for a new place to settle them."
Tom sneered.
"Temporary? It's been decades; this is almost their home. You wouldn't be unaware of their abilities, would you? This isn't settlement.
It's an invasion! An alien invasion of humanity!!!
As for the second question? You travel the Universe, yet you provide no help to Earth's technology, letting Earth struggle in crisis."
Carol responded with a firm gaze.
"The Universe is fraught with danger, and I travel everywhere, stopping wars, resisting invasions. Earth is not a place I have forgotten.
I thought S.H.I.E.L.D. could protect this place, and the rash introduction of technology might disrupt Earth's own development balance."
"Then do you know that if it weren't for the help of the Demon King and the Mutants in this Chitauri invasion, humanity would have been destroyed, or even enslaved!"
Tom raised his voice, angrily accusing her.
"I would come to save you then."
Captain Marvel's tone was calm, yet it carried an air of arrogant superiority.
The audience below was enraged.
"Save us? We don't want your charity, bitch!"
"Who wants you to save us? We have Mutants, we have the Demon King, we have the army!"
"Get out of Earth, alien dog!"
A pile of trash was thrown onto the stage.
Captain Marvel silently clenched her fists, never having wanted to kill someone so much.
"Are you satisfied now? Release them."
Tom listened to the arrogant tone and shook his head speechlessly.
Why do such powerful individuals also like to abide by so-called rules? The strong should be the ones who make the rules.
"I told you, this isn't my project. At most, this."
All the machine guns in the image retracted.
The image disappeared.
"You tricked me!"
Carol said angrily.
"The Skrulls are outright invaders. We must not tolerate or indulge their crimes. I have no right to easily let these guys go; they will be justly tried by the entire World!"
Tom met Carol's angry gaze without flinching, speaking righteously.
"Or, Captain Marvel, are you planning to become an enemy of humanity for those aliens?"
Tom wore a playful smile.
Carol's face was grim, and she was about to say something.
Her brain tingled, her eyes lost focus for a moment, then cleared, and anger surged into her heart.
These people wanted to control her brain!
"How dare you!"
Carol Danvers was enveloped in energy, her eyes burst with dazzling light, the ground beneath her cracked from the energy impact, and a strong wind howled.
The entire venue was filled with surging air currents and rising dust.
The audience below closed their eyes in terror, thinking Death was imminent.
After a long while, feeling no pain, people opened their eyes in confusion.
In front of them was a giant black membrane that perfectly absorbed all the damage.
The metal membrane began to compress and fold, eventually forming a four-meter-long giant cube, its surface constantly rippling with purple waves.
A helmeted figure descended from the sky.
"It's Magneto!"
"Magneto, Magneto, Magneto!"
Magneto smiled and nodded, listening to the cheers.
Now, the Mutants' reputation was completely reversed.
As long as no major mistakes occurred in the future, no one could change it.
