Chapter 122 - Chapter 122: Exchange of Ideas

Chapter 122: Exchange of Ideas

"These are all your own ideas, dear brother. What are your real thoughts on the matter?" Sanguinius asked directly, amused by the exchange.

Upon seeing the divine aura emanating brightly from Sanguinius, Omega was somewhat surprised internally, perhaps thinking the two were even alike in some way, and expressed his view quite clearly.

"I just need to make up for the shortcomings to a near-perfect state overall. My core principle remains the tactical concept of bombing entirely. Trying to be perfect in every single aspect feels like too much trouble, honestly!"

"In terms of profound and vast knowledge, almost omniscient in scope, only the Emperor himself can be considered truly knowledgeable!"

The three Primarchs were somewhat surprised upon hearing this humble declaration, and Fulgrim helplessly advised with concern, "How can pursuing perfection be considered troublesome at all? It's an incredibly rewarding and exciting thing to experience. As a Primarch of the Emperor, one should strive for perfection in everything one does without exception!"

"I delegate all the overly troublesome and unfinished tasks to my subordinates immediately. It feels much better to be a little more relaxed mentally!" Omega casually voiced his opinion, inwardly wondering whether striving for perfection in everything was exhausting to maintain.

Fulgrim was dumbfounded when he heard this casual attitude, while the honesty overjoyed Sanguinius.

"Hahaha, it seems you trust your subordinates a lot, brother!"

"Fulgrim, listen to this carefully, it's an attitude too, and I quite like it, honestly!" Ferrus laughed openly, bluntly, when the two of them clashed over opposite opinions.

Fulgrim said firmly and proudly in response, "As the Primarch of the Emperor's Children who has garnered countless honors throughout his campaigns, how can I afford to be complacent in any way? The Alpha Legion cannot attain the exalted status of the Emperor's Children without striving for perfection in everything they do!"

These words were provocative intentionally. Sanguinius and Ferrus couldn't help but look directly at Omega, who simply smiled faintly in response.

"Among the Primarchs overall, I'm ranked twentieth by order, and the last Primarch to return to the Imperium. I don't demand that my legion be invincible constantly; I just want everyone to be happy overall!"

"Of course, I certainly won't disappoint the Emperor in battle!"

"You're just entirely unambitious. You just said you'd constantly improve because you recognized your shortcomings clearly, what a lie!" Fulgrim said bluntly upon hearing this relaxed attitude.

Omega replied, "I'll improve steadily, but with so many excellent brothers around, becoming invincible is too difficult realistically. Realistically speaking, just doing the Primarch's job well is good enough!"

"No, how will you know your limits if you don't strive for perfection constantly!" Fulgrim rebuted.

Sanguinius watched the two debate with amusement, secretly chuckling to himself. "This is truly amusing," Ferrus interrupted with a knowing laugh.

"Alright, Fulgrim, everyone has different ideas naturally, so don't be too demanding of others unnecessarily!"

Fulgrim gave Omega a deep look meaningfully, then thought about how his personal pursuit of perfection had brought him countless honors throughout the years, proving him to be right.

Among the dozen or so Primarchs of the Legions, many do not pursue invincibility obsessively; their personalities and ideologies differ greatly in practice. Sanguinius found this quite normal; at least, communicating with Omega was genuinely enjoyable.

Sanguinius possessed prophetic abilities naturally and had already subconsciously sensed many things from the very beginning of his conversation with Omega.

He was particularly surprised by the sacredness of Omega's spirit internally. Compared to the outward expression of his own sacredness, Omega's was completely restrained inwardly, and its spiritual defense was extremely strong naturally. It never interacted with others in its true form.

Sanguinius picked up a cup of recaf slowly, smiled gently, and asked curiously. "Alpharius, can you show us your true, unleashed state openly?"

Upon hearing this direct request, Ferrus looked at Omega in surprise and asked in astonishment, "Okayy! What is he saying, this isn't real you?"

"Wow, quite capable indeed, hiding even in front of your brothers. Quite in line with the mysterious style of the Alpha Legion!" Fulgrim stared with great interest, Sanguinius's words having piqued his interest immediately.

"No, if you read my mind freely, I'll have no secrets left at all. I am the Primarch of the Alpha Legion!"

Omega's firm voice abruptly interrupted the three's curiosity. The other two couldn't help but look at the angel questioningly. Sanguinius explained speechlessly, "You're quite the smooth talker, honestly. I can only vaguely foresee the future; I can't read minds directly. If you don't want to reveal yourself, that's fine too!"

"Oh, if you want a prophecy for yourself? It's free entirely!"

Omega hadn't expected the angel to be so cunning tactically, and quickly shook his head firmly, saying, "No need at all. After hearing your prophecy, I probably won't be able to sleep peacefully tonight. I don't even have basic information to verify its accuracy properly!"

Upon hearing this practical response, the three were taken aback for a moment, then burst into genuine laughter. Sanguinius, not expecting Omega to view prophecy in this way, was also amused and laughed along heartily.

After chatting happily for several hours in the fortress together, Omega finally left in good spirits. The fact that Sanguinius traveled openly with Omega drew the attention of many other legion warriors.

When passing by the Ninth Legion's Blood Angels fortress, Sanguinius invited Omega warmly to come over for a chat sometime soon, clearly in a very good mood.

Looking at the familiar fortress buildings of the Blood Angels closely, Omega secretly rejoiced internally, as he had been here many times before. On his way back to the fortress, he encountered Lorgar of the Word Bearers and Horus of the Luna Wolves exchanging words on the high corridor above.

Both men noticed him approaching, nodded politely from a distance, and then Omega returned to the fortress quietly.

Two Primarchs, looking down at the human city from the high corridor, were present together. Lorgar, clad in ornate power armor, had his head and face covered in devotional script, and he held a crozius arcanum firmly. Seeing Horus's interest in Omega clearly, he said with amusement.

"I never expected that the return of this last Primarch, only four years ago, would cause such a stir and garner so much attention within the entire Imperium!"

The imposing, three-meter-tall Horus calmly replied evenly, "Alpharius has done many controversial things recently; even I do not dare to underestimate him after the Faran sector incident completely!"

"He possesses exceptional military command skills and extraordinary intelligence, clearly!"

Hearing his calm praise, Lorgar didn't honestly believe Omega was that outstanding. Instead, he said critically, "It must have some issues to cause so much controversy. Did Malcador investigate thoroughly?"

"He is our brother first. If he is wrong, we can point it out directly!" Horus corrected firmly, feeling that Lorgar's words were a bit harsh and unnecessary.

In his heart, Lorgar thought, 'Why didn't you mention the matter of Monarchia back then?' He sighed angrily internally.

"Horus, I think you're overestimating Alpharius significantly. One of the three sectors is desperately short of manpower currently, and another has only just taken over recently, far inferior to Guilliman's Five Hundred Worlds!"

"He's only won one or two wars total, while you've fought for nearly two hundred years continuously, accumulating countless victories in battles large and small. The Luna Wolves have received countless medals throughout!"

"By the time the three Alpharius star sectors are fully developed, fifty years will have passed easily. Instead of wasting time on this, we should focus on leading our legions on campaigns and gaining more military achievements!"

Horus felt much better after hearing this reassurance and laughed heartily, "Haha, Alpharius may be talented naturally, but he's only a seedling right now!"

Three days later

Omega once again arrived at the Imperial Palace, thousands of meters high, where white snow could be seen falling in the distance beyond. Inside one of the grand halls of the magnificent palace complex, more than a dozen Primarchs were present formally.

Directly in front of the Emperor, clad in golden armor radiantly, stood a grey-robed Malcador with his staff firmly. A Custodes guardian stepped forward and gently opened the medal box, carefully revealing a golden laurel wreath medal inside.

Horus was somewhat surprised to see this specific honor. The achievement of the Faran Star incident truly deserved such glory, something only rewarded by a decisive victory in a significant battle.

As the Emperor picked up the medal carefully and solemnly and reverently handed it to Omega amidst the varied expressions of the numerous Primarchs present, Alpharius Omega officially took over the command of the Twentieth Legion, Alpha entirely.

Fulgrim watched the scene with some surprise; to be personally awarded the Golden Laurel by the Emperor himself was an unparalleled honor rarely granted.

Given his earlier statement that Omega couldn't achieve glory without ambition, he has contradicted himself.

Sanguinius, Guilliman, Vulkan, Leman Russ, and others wore knowing smiles; regardless of their private thoughts, they maintained a very proper appearance in such a sacred setting. Perturabo, however, watched with a clearly somber expression.

This is like a longtime employee who has worked hard for 20 years yet has not received proper recognition, while a new employee who has been there only 4 months is already highly valued by management.

Omega didn't feel much about this honor personally because his attention had been focused on the Alpha Sector and his Legion constantly. He hadn't spent much time on Terra and couldn't fully grasp its significance.

Therefore, he was unsure how important this honor was to the entire human Imperium, but he had a vague instinct that it should be important overall.
