The images flashed briefly, all scattered and blurry scenes. For a moment, Yugi felt like his brain had turned into a near-defunct projector, replaying fragmented and distorted memories.
The memories sealed for three thousand years surged in, causing his mind to briefly feel dizzy. He rubbed his temples and took a while to force his vision back onto his cards.
He saw clearly the card he had just drawn. It seemed like an ordinary green Magic Card, yet the card image silently narrated a millennium-long tale to him.
Yugi slowly closed his eyes.
"My card deck, what do you want to tell me?"
"What's wrong with Pharaoh?" Priest Kareem whispered.
Everyone noticed that ever since drawing that card, Pharaoh hadn't moved.
Marik made an exaggerated yawn, shouting loudly, "Hey, what's going on, Pharaoh? If you're ready to admit defeat, it's fine to hand over the Divine Card. Hahahaha!"
Yugi snapped back, glanced at him, and then carefully added the drawn card to his hand.
"Summon 'Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts,' in attack position."
The fierce mythical beast roared angrily, leaping out, crouching, with white horns atop its head, and a mass of unruly black hair.
[Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts, Attack Power 1500]
"Oh? You think you can defeat me with just a monster like that?" Marik sneered.
"Pay close attention, Marik!" Yugi slowly drew a card from his hand, shouting, "The true power contained in the Divine Card you covet!"
Marik was taken aback, his expression changed.
Divine Card... the true power?
Does the Divine Card have abilities I am unaware of?
"I activate the Magic Card - Ancient Chant from my hand!"
The green card image appeared out of thin air; as it appeared, it exploded with dazzling golden brilliance. It was like the eternal light of the sun; no one could look directly at the intense light, nor see what the card itself looked like.
Marik raised his arm to block his face, trying hard to open his eyes, feeling like peeling off a layer of skin to cool off while exposed to the hellishly hot golden glow.
He was all too familiar with this power.
That was... the power of the solar god!
"But how is this possible!?" Marik was shocked, "Does the solar god have power I don't know about?"
At that moment, Yugi also had his eyes tightly shut, his expression devout, arms crossed in front of his chest, solemnly and seriously chanting something.
Marik instantly recognized it.
——Ancient Priestly Texts!
It was ancient priestly texts that even he had never heard of!
"Impossible, impossible..." Six-year-old began doubting life.
Up until now, he had always relied on the hidden abilities of the solar god to trick others, never imagining the Heavenly Dao would repay him, that even at six years old, he would be counter-tricked by the hidden abilities of the solar god!
The chant was recited, the boundless light gathered like being drawn in, gradually condensing a square entity above Yugi's head.
It was a stone slab, shining with a sacred halo that couldn't be looked at directly. Through the blinding divine glow, a vague contour could be seen, resembling a majestic and noble divine bird on the stone slab, poised to soar into the sky.
Yugi raised his hand high, the stone slab dissolved into starlight and disappeared. A card, accompanied by ten thousand feet of golden brilliance, appeared in his hand.
"Effect of 'Ancient Chant.'" Yugi slowly said, "Select one 'The Winged Dragon of Ra' from the deck or graveyard to add to the hand."
"Added the god to the hand, huh?"
Marik vaguely saw a faint golden halo on the card in Yugi's hand, gritting his teeth and snorted, "But even so, you've already performed a Normal Summon this turn. Even if the solar god is added to the hand, it cannot be summoned! Just wait for the next turn..."
"The subsequent effect of 'Ancient Chant.'" Yugi coldly said, "In the turn this card is activated, aside from the Normal Summon, you can additionally perform one Tribute Summon!"
"Na... Nani!?" Marik's expression changed dramatically, his facial muscles pulled into a theatrical arc.
"Are you ready to face the wrath of the solar god, Marik!?" Yugi shouted boldly, "I sacrifice 'Gorz the Emissary of Darkness,' 'Emissary of Darkness Token,' and 'Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts,' three monsters as offerings to the divine! Tribute Summon!
The ever-changing flames of heaven and earth, turning into eternal light to illuminate the earth!
The Winged Dragon of Ra - Descend!"
The three monsters were successively surrounded by a white whirlwind, transforming into a beam of light shooting into the sky. The boundless golden brilliance extinguished everything, the black clouds ignited by the black-gold flames, seemingly burning fiercely at the horizon.
Beams of light pierced through the clouds and shot down, following which the clouds themselves were torn by the light. A shimmering golden metal sphere slowly descended from behind the clouds, resembling the advent of the sun itself.
The Egyptian soldiers dared not look directly, one by one prostrating themselves in reverence.
That represented the god of the sun!
To these ancient people, it was like the sun itself, which only Pharaoh could wield, guardian of this land's Supreme God!
"The attack power of the solar god is the sum of the attack powers of all monsters sacrificed to summon him." Yugi coldly said, "So now, 'The Winged Dragon of Ra's attack power is..."
[The Winged Dragon of Ra, Attack Power 7000]
"Attack Power... seven thousand!?" Six-year-old's face was full of disbelief.
Impossible, impossible!
How could I, Marik, lose?
...how could I lose to Ra!? This is... way too absurd, isn't it?
But this is what's happening. Marik's two set cards are "Malevolent Catastrophe," which counterattacks during an attack and destroys all monsters on the field, and "Torture Wheel," which locks the opponent's monster actions.
Though both cards are extremely sinister and powerful, they cannot save him now.
Traps are ineffective against divinity.
As Yugi invoked the chant again, the golden sphere began to change form. It spread its wings, extended its head, its sturdy body like alloy, shining with a metallic luster under the golden glow.
"Feel the mighty power of the solar god for yourself, Marik!" Yugi raised his arm and shouted, "The Winged Dragon of Ra, attack 'Red Ogre!' Divine Power Flame Cannon!"
The solar god opened its mouth, spewing out golden scorching flames, as if divine punishment transformed into substance, sweeping away with grandeur!
"Ahhhhh!!"
Red Ogre was instantly reduced to ashes by the blow, and Six-year-old was subsequently engulfed by the high-temperature breath of the Egyptian God. He spun in the vortex, his body abstracted into lines until finally being consumed by the flames, sacrificed as an offering to the Darkness Game and forever annihilated.
