Youyu drew a card into his hand, glanced at it, and then selected one from his hand.
"Summon 'Berry Magician Girl'!"
A transparent magic array appeared, and the petite magic girl flapped her transparent wings, flying out like a butterfly trailing a shimmering path onto the field.
"In this 'Dimension Duel' field, the attack power a monster can exert depends on the Duelist themselves," Sella explained. "The monster's attack power increases with the Duelist's vigor."
Youyu knew this point well. In the anime, whenever Yugi and Kaiba performed a 'Dimension Duel', they would shout 'ahhhh' like Super Saiyans powering up, and the attack power of their summoned monsters would start increasing from 0.
However, this increase does have a limit; no matter how strong the Duelist's vigor is, the attack power of the summoned monsters can only increase up to the value stated on their card.
Based on Youyu's understanding, this so-called 'Duelist's vigor' is more specifically akin to the Duelist's 'force'.
With a high enough Duelist level, the attack power of summoned monsters can naturally be maximized.
So for an advanced card master like Youyu, this rule is completely unnecessary and can be directly ignored.

"Berry Magician Girl's effect: Upon successful summoning, I can add a 'Magician Girl' monster from my Deck to my hand." Youyu drew an automatically ejected card from his Deck.
"I add 'Dark Magician Girl' to my hand."
A blonde elf girl floated behind Youyu like a ghost, holding a small magic staff: "Go for it, Master!"
"Magic Card 'Monster Gate'! Sacrifice one monster on your field, flip cards from the top of the deck until a monster you can Normal Summon appears.
Special Summon the flipped monster, send all other cards to the graveyard."
Youyu pointed to the petite magic girl on the field.
"I sacrifice 'Berry Magician Girl' to activate Monster Gate's effect!"
The Berry Girl disappeared, the magic array opened up, revealing a portal formed from energy in mid-air.
Youyu quickly flipped cards from the top of the deck, finding a suitable monster on the second card.
"The card I flipped is 'Chocolate Magician Girl'." Youyu placed the card onto the Duel Disc, "According to 'Monster Gate's effect, Special Summon!"
The portal in mid-air burst with energy, disappearing into a magic array, from which a devilish Magician Girl flew out, landing lightly in strappy high boots.

"In 'Dimension Duel', monsters summoned easily activate their attack power to its limit?" Sella murmured, "Truly worthy of a Duel King."
"Chocolate Magician Girl's effect." Youyu said, "Once per turn, by discarding a Spellcaster-Type monster from my hand, I can draw one card from my deck."
The Chocolate Girl gently swung her magic staff, casting her most skilled spell. Youyu discarded a card to the graveyard and drew another card.
"Next, I set two cards, ending my turn." Youyu said.
"Not attacking this round?"
Sella glanced at her field with attack power of only 0 for 'Vijam the Cubic Seed', couldn't help but ask.
Attack? Why attack?
Though the anime is somewhat vague, Youyu knows the effect of 'Vijam the Cubic Seed'. Though its attack power is only 0, it can't be destroyed by battle and can 'Non-Dimensionalize' any monster it battles with, according to the anime.
A monster that has been 'Non-Dimensionalized' cannot attack, and has its effects negated, essentially being chained by a 'Fiendish Chain'.
In a regular duel, attacking can cause battle damage, but under 'Dimension Duel' rules, battles between monsters don't cause damage; only when a monster is destroyed does the controller take damage equal to the monster's attack power.
So attacking now is meaningless.
Sella, not knowing the 'Dimension Duel' rules, nor that Youyu has grasped the details of her 'Cubic' deck, attributed it to Youyu's caution.
"I see, worthy of a Duel King, quite the fearsome intuition."
Sella raised her small hand.
"My turn, draw!"
She added a card to her hand, then with a swift movement.
"Battle, I attack Chocolate Magician Girl with 'Vijam the Cubic Seed'!"

The attack power gap was vast, but the deformed Cubic monster was unfazed. The Chocolate Girl raised her magic staff to defend, a dazzling brilliance surged forth like a torrential stream.
Vijam cannot be destroyed by battle, and under 'Dimension Duel' rules, non-destroyed monsters do not cause damage. But if this battle resolves, Chocolate Magician Girl will be 'Non-Dimensionalized' by Vijam's effect, unable to attack and with negated effects.
So better to use her effect now to gain more resources.
"Activate Chocolate Magician Girl's effect." Youyu stated, "When Chocolate Magician Girl becomes an attack target, you Special Summon one Spellcaster-Type monster from your graveyard.
Afterward, the opponent's monster's attack target changes to that monster, and the attacking monster's attack power is halved."
The card that Youyu discarded to the graveyard last turn quickly ejected.
"I Special Summon from the graveyard, 'Lemon Magician Girl'!"
Magical power surged, a golden magic array opened up, from which a Magician Girl clad in gleaming lemon attire gracefully spun out.

"Now Vijam's attack target changes to Lemon Girl." Sella explained, "But Vijam's attack power is initially 0, so halving it won't change it at all."
But Youyu wasn't done yet: "Lemon Magician Girl's effect. When she becomes an attack target, Special Summon one Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand. If its level is higher than 'Lemon Magician Girl', its effect is negated." (anime effect)
Youyu revealed another card from his hand.
"Come forth, Dark Magician Girl!"
A sharply defined black magic array, finally out for her appearance, the Dark Magician Girl excitedly appeared, gripping her small magic staff with high spirits.

"Then Vijam's attack power halves and the attack target changes to 'Dark Magician Girl'." Youyu said, "Of course, Vijam's attack power remains 0."
Vijam's assault target shifted again, now to the newly arrived Dark Magician Girl. The blonde magical girl puffed out her cheeks and hurled a magical light blast forward.
If the battle resolves this way, Vijam can only negate Dark Magician Girl's effects.
Dark Magician Girl's effect... Youyu shrugged off its negation.
It was pretty useless anyway...
Plus, her effect had already been negated upon entering due to 'Lemon Magician Girl's effect.
But it seemed Sella had other plans.
"Flip Cover Card." Sella gestured to flip her Set Card, "Counter Trap - Cubic Defense Array. Activated during both monsters' battle phase, it protects one's monster from being destroyed in battle once, then allows two cards with the same name from your hand to be Special Summoned." (anime card)
Her slender fingers swiftly drew two cards from her hand and placed them onto the Duel Disc.
"Special Summon two more 'Vijam the Cubic Seed'!"
A cubic defense formation blocked the impact of the magic light, as streaming magical currents flowed over the defensive shield. Following this, two bursts of golden light shot from her hands, transforming into two dark aberrant entities, revealing their massive single eyes as they morphed into two more 'Vijam the Cubic Seed' on the field.

"When three 'Vijam the Cubic Seed' exist on the field..."
Sella raised her small arms, a pitch-black storm blew fiercely billowing her sleeves.
