Antarctica, not long ago.
An endless expanse of thick ice, glaciers obscuring the view. The moist air seemed to hide blades, constantly slicing across the icebergs.
A domain ruled by cold, a land where life should not exist. Here, the severe cold and snowstorms reign supreme, the environment supremely harsh, with temperatures reaching negative eighty degrees or even lower, known as the "white desert."
Countless generations of explorers, with advanced ships and brave sailors, have continuously challenged this forbidden land, and many have met their end here.
Yet on this very white desert, there appeared two people walking on foot.
One, a man, wore no protective gear, just a simple white robe, walking steadily across the endless ice field. The bone-chilling wind made his white robe flutter wildly, but it couldn't even make him blink.
Saiou Takuma, the host of the Light of Destruction, leader of the Light Society.
Beside him was an affiliate of the Light Society, a girl named Shea. Unlike Saiou, the girl was wrapped in a thick padded coat with fur lining and wore goggles, yet she still shivered from the wind.
But like the other members of the organization, she was the most faithful follower by Saiou's side, never questioning her great master's decisions.
After all, even something as vast as destiny was held in the master's hand, how could they dare question Lord Saiou's authority?
The intelligence from the emperor's organization was correct. The Kaiju "Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju" that descended on Earth years ago was indeed once the host of the Light of Destruction.
But it was defeated by the Duel Monster Spirits and "Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju" of that time on Earth, temporarily sealed in Antarctica, causing the Light of Destruction within it to cease.
But now that the Thunder King has been awakened, that power is also reawakened.
So, of course, Saiou couldn't let it go. He must find that part of the Light of Destruction from the Ancient Era before the other humans and merge their powers.
The D Department has surveillance footage of that "Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju," and so does Saiou. Though he hasn't seen it with his own eyes, he knows how powerful that Kaiju is, and can also imagine how strong the Light of Destruction housed within that card is.
If they can unite, then they will sweep across everything in this world, not caring for Duel Kings or Egyptian Gods!
... Indeed ~ We antagonist duelists of Yugi-Oh value self-confidence above all.
Though it seems besides themselves, there are others also inquiring about the Thunder King, it doesn't matter. The Light Society not only has extensive intelligence but their greatest advantage is that their leader is a super charlatan!
Saiou's inflated self-confidence largely stems from the backing of the great entity that is destiny.
Destiny has already shown him the trajectory of the future. To him, everything in the universe is like the stars in the night sky, and he can penetrate the mystery and calculate the operation of each star.
Steady as a rock, unwavering like an old dog!
Before this Antarctic trip, he had already studied the celestial phenomena and performed divination. And destiny, as his most faithful partner over the years, stood by him once again.
The Tarot Divination indicated that this Antarctic journey would be a tremendous success. He would successfully unite with the Light of Destruction from the Ancient Era, and smoothly acquire the power of the so-called strongest Kaiju, the "Thunder King."
This event was so significant that he couldn't trust Light Society's mere pawns to come. He showed up personally to ensure he could grasp that power with his own hands.
Fate even generously allowed him to glimpse a future where he would sweep through everything, leveling this world.
Saiou was in high spirits, wearing a duelist's "healthy smile" as he walked.
Until while walking in this snowy wilderness, a sense of dissonance suddenly surged in his heart.
A dissonance that ordinary people could never detect, as if someone had plucked the strings of destiny, causing a shift in the world line.
Realizing something was wrong, Saiou quickly activated his extraordinary abilities once more. A red carpet appeared out of thin air on the white ice, along with a small round table covered with a white cloth, a chair, and his Tarot Cards.
Yes, that's right, he's going to do another reading right here.
The shadows of the Tarot Cards danced in the air, empowered by the Light of Destruction, moving along a specific trajectory, attempting to depict just a corner of destiny's iceberg.
Shea, the little follower, was standing by, tightening her coat.
Though she wondered why Lord Saiou suddenly set up a stall to tell fortunes in the middle of this icy wasteland, she dared not question it.
Perhaps the heavens have given him another revelation?
And as she thought this, she saw the floating Tarot Cards in the air suddenly go "pop" —
— and exploded.
Shea blinked her big eyes under the goggles, dumbfounded.
Ah, this...
The girl was a bit confused.
Wasn't Lord Saiou's divination supposed to be absolute?
Wasn't destiny always on our side, revealing the predetermined future to us?
How could it possibly explode, though?
She looked toward her leader, whom she worshiped devoutly. In her eyes, Lord Saiou was the executor of the divine... no, perhaps even the gods act for him. Surely Lord Saiou would have a reasonable explanation.
Then she was even more astonished to find that Lord Saiou seemed to have exploded as well...
"Ahhhh!!!"
Saiou angrily overturned his table, scattering the Tarot Cards like falling snow.
Youyu, that damn Youyu again!!!
Although he couldn't divine anything, even without destiny's insight he knew it was definitely that accursed Youyu again!
Because only that guy could prevent him from seeing destiny's insights!
What is that ghost of a Duel King doing, coming to a desolate place like Antarctica and not competing in his matches? Sightseeing?
It doesn't make any sense!
Before coming to Antarctica, he had clearly seen destiny—he would successfully obtain the "Thunder King," gain new power, and thus sweep across everything.
This destiny had already been calculated, how could it change?
Could it be that destiny is flip-flopping?
Facing the enraged boss, Shea tucked her head down, didn't dare speak, and obediently squatted down to help him pick up the Tarot Cards one by one.
Unexpectedly, after Saiou's burst of anger, once his emotions settled, he quickly made a strategic adjustment—
— Retreat!
"The veil of destiny has yet to be lifted, which means the timing is not yet right, and it's not the time to confront that Duel King yet," he said to himself.
... Absolutely not because he feared that Duel King!
Thus, Saiou flicked his sleeve, and his cloak fluttered—
— and slipped away.
Ascending skyward from the ground, disappearing without a trace.
As Shea was bending over to pick up the Tarot Cards, she was suddenly whisked into the sky, her heart shocked and astonished—
— Holy crap, the master can do this, too?
No wonder the master is omnipotent, even his retreat is so impressive!
