Duel Academy.
The incident of aliens on the island last night kept fermenting, attracting more and more attention. This has not only proven to everyone the real existence of aliens, but also made many start to ponder whether there is a connection between aliens and Duel Monsters.
Astronomy and aerospace experts have also started to consider whether it would be more appropriate to shift the focus of space exploration research to the field of Duel Monsters in the future.
At times like this, the foresight of President Kaiba Seto becomes even more prominent. As early as six years ago, President Haima had already begun dabbling in the field of aerospace. Although many people have questioned whether a card-playing company is branching into aerospace research through the wrong technology tree, it seems now that the president found the right path...
This matter was also brought up again at the meeting held by the Duel Academy leadership today.
"No need to worry about Judai," Youyu said, "He's already completely controlled those extraterrestrial visitors. He can manage them. Those new cosmic visitors are not a threat."
The leaders nodded.
Since the Duel King put it this way, naturally, no one had any objections. No one was tactless enough to oppose, suggesting Youyu was abusing his power and that the aliens shouldn't be trusted and must be tested and researched.
Everyone knows that behind Youyu is the financial supporter President Kaiba Seto of the Duel Academy. Although the president claims not to interfere with academy incidents and seems indifferent to what happens here, you shouldn't take his words too literally.
Otherwise, try opposing Youyu, and you'll find he has a hundred ways to make your life at the academy difficult.
So everyone wisely didn't bring up Judai again but instead shifted their attention to the other side—to the alien who dueled with Judai.
The companions from the new cosmos patiently told Judai about the cosmic tale of good versus evil, light versus dark, and earlier, Judai had passed this story on to the academy leaders.
So now, everyone knows of something called the "Light of Destruction" lurking in the cosmic void. What Judai defeated this time were merely the scouts sent as a vanguard, at best just reconnaissance soldiers.
If Earth catches this force's interest, the next time, who knows, it might be a mighty cosmic army!
No one knows the true form of the "Light of Destruction," nor how strong it truly is. But according to the new cosmic people, it's an indescribably powerful evil force with the goal to "destroy everything existing in the universe."
Destroy the universe!
It immediately sounds like a badass BOSS. After all, even the Great Evil God Sock, as powerful as it is, has its sights limited to this Earth. The Light of Destruction looks at flattening the entire universe, so it can't be that weak.
But what reassures everyone is that Judai's duel with the aliens at least confirmed one thing—
—Aliens also play cards.
If they're willing to duel, then there's nothing to worry about. What they're afraid of is the aliens not being into card games at all, coming straight in with star-killing cannons, which Earth surely can't withstand...
Of course, Youyu has no such concerns. After all, whether it's Earth or the universe, as long as it's within the worldview of the Duel King, anything that comes will still have to duel.
"If we can solve it via dueling, then there's nothing to fear." A senior jokingly and timely flattered, "With Mr. Youyu and the Duelist Alliance around, even a grand cosmic invasion from aliens isn't scary!"
These words sparked a wave of agreement among the senior members.
But Youyu wasn't as optimistic.
By now, he's lost count of how many times he's cursed out the screenwriter of GX Animation for leaving plot holes unfilled because this guy left such a massive cliffhanger that was never resolved, leaving Youyu with almost zero understanding of the "Light of Destruction," without the slightest clue on what card deck it uses.
Ninety percent of Duelists regard Youyu as a deity, thinking he represents the pinnacle of the Duel Monsters game; he's the epitome of technical prowess and invincibility in this card game.
But Youyu knows himself well enough to realize he's far from that.
It's true he can walk sideways on Earth, but what if the Light of Destruction itself appeared, its starting move being "Red-Eyes Fusion," summoning a "Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon"?
Then I'd be f***ed, I'd... oh wait, even if he pulls out Red-Eyes Dad, can't I just Turtle him on the spot?
(Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju liked this.)
Then no worries.
But the development of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards has gone on for so many years, and the top-tier decks of the late meta become increasingly terrifying. These powerful decks can often create ultra-luxurious setups that Duelists of the era couldn't even dream of, encompassing burst kill, disruption, and enduring pressure capabilities.
If a regular player holds such a deck, that's one thing, but if a Boss of duelist level ten or higher wields it, it becomes a big problem.
So Youyu feels deeply that his "encyclopedic card collection" journey is still long ahead. He cannot become complacent due to his high position; he must still be grounded, focusing on every bit of accumulation.
Moreover, as his most capable general on this side, Judai naturally cannot be left behind.
Youyu has already contacted President Haima and Tenma Yako. He plans to bring together the capabilities of the two top card printing companies, Kaiba Group and International Fantasy Society, using both technological advancements and mystical powers to assist Judai in developing new cosmic series cards that didn't appear in the original animation.
Luckily for Judai, both Kaiba and Yako are very interested in the "Neo-Spacians" card series from outer space. Both sides allocated a large number of personnel and resources to set up dedicated groups, working non-stop to uncover the hidden potential of Neo-Spacians.
The collaboration between these two major card production houses should hopefully yield results soon.
Another topic brought up at the meeting was the recruitment of a new batch of mentors.
Due to the success and evident improvement in student ability from the guidance of the first batch of mentors last semester, Youyu decided to expand enrollment this year, bringing more players into the school as student mentors.
But this decision sparked some controversy.
"I agree with Principal Youyu's decision," someone said. "For the school, enhancing student quality is always the most crucial."
"But those so-called teachers have no semblance of being teachers!" someone opposed. "Their behavior is eccentric, their speech is odd, and sometimes... they can be a bit scandalous..."
Many agreed with this point; they've long felt those mentors weren't normal in the head.
"This is why I won't let them enter the classrooms," Youyu said. "We can also further refine the rules and regulations to constrain their behavior."
"Will they comply with regulations?" the teachers expressed their doubts.
In their impression, players seem to be those free-spirited geniuses with a wayward thought process, and geniuses are often not keen on following rules.
"Don't worry, they're cooperative. They'll do anything you ask and you can arrange them however you like," Youyu smiled, "You just need to find the right method."
The teachers looked at each other, feeling a bit incredulous.
Some still held doubts: "But according to the school rules, such recruitment reviews don't meet standards; there must be stricter evaluations and review processes, starting with written tests, followed by two rounds of interviews…"
"The school rules also mention that when opinions differ, they can be resolved by a duel."
Youyu somehow pulled out a Duel Disc and placed it on the table in front of him horizontally.
He didn't continue speaking, but the message conveyed through his gaze and actions was quite clear—
—If you have an objection, why not duel in accordance with the school rules?
Sure enough, no one spoke up after that.
"Good, then it's unanimously passed." Youyu smiled, "Let's happily decide then!"
