"Then it's my turn, draw card."
Right now, although President Kaiba has developed a prototype D-Wheel, it clearly can't compare to the technology of the future. For instance, the "automatic driving" system common in the 5DS timeline is temporarily unavailable.
In other words, Youyu's first "Riding Duel" cannot rely on computer-controlled automatic driving and must be manually driven by the driver.
Having to focus on riding while simultaneously playing cards truly makes this a high-level challenge for a Riding Duelist's first experience.
Fortunately, Youyu has long been ready for this day. Having predicted that card-playing while riding would be the future trend, Youyu had already requested Kaiba Company to design a custom motorcycle for him, and he's been practicing driving skills—especially the technique of multi-tasking card play while riding.
So, although it's a first experience, he's not completely unfamiliar with it.
"Activate the Magic Card 'Graceful Charity' from my hand," Youyu declared, as a green Magic Card flipped out from the side of the swiftly moving D-Wheel, "Draw three cards from the deck, then choose two cards from the hand to discard to the graveyard."
After changing his hand, he quickly revealed another card.
"The effect of 'Gaia the Magical Knight' in my hand!" Youyu said, "When there are no monsters on your field, or if there are monsters with over 2300 attack points on the opponent's field, it can be normally summoned without tributes.
Come forth, Gaia the Magical Knight!"
A horse's neigh, the clip-clop of hooves seemed to rush from the void. A flaming red horse charged, the cloak of the knight billowing darkly behind, wielding a pair of spiral double guns.
[Gaia the Magical Knight, Attack Power 2300]
Yusei's D-Wheel sped ahead, kicking up dust behind the tires. He turned his head to see the knight, who emerged from Youyu's side, galloping alongside the D-Wheel. His thoughts stirred.
"This time using the Gaia deck..."
"The second effect of 'Gaia the Magical Knight'!" Youyu said, "When this card is successfully summoned or special summoned, you can special summon one level five Dragon-Type monster in defense position from your hand or graveyard."
He drew another card from his hand.
"I special summon the level five Dragon-Type—'Prison Flame Cursed Dragon'!"
Fiery red flames swirled on the field, bursting forth as a golden dragon turning red from burning emerged, spreading its wings grandly!
[Prison Flame Cursed Dragon, Defense Power 1500]
"Next is the effect of 'Prison Flame Cursed Dragon'!" Youyu swept his arm, "Once per turn, can be activated during your main phase.
Send the Fusion Material monsters including this card on your field to the graveyard, to perform a Fusion Summon!"
He swiftly picked up two cards from the Duel Disc.
"I use 'Prison Flame Cursed Dragon' and 'Gaia the Magical Knight' on the field as materials for fusion!
The fusion condition is 'Gaia The Fierce Knight' monster plus one level five Dragon-Type monster! Fusion Summon!
A golden storm, the knight riding the cursed dragon—
——Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons!!!"
The golden dragon and the knight riding a steed vanished into the speeding gale, a bundle of fierce flames shooting out like a sharp sword! A golden dragon soared from the flames into the sky, the knight danced with spiral double guns, a fiery whirlwind pierced the heavens.
[Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons, Attack Power 2600]
"The effect of 'Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons'," Youyu waved his hand, "Decrease its attack by 2600, destroy one card on the field.
I destroy 'Stardust Dragon'!"
Yusei's eyes moved slightly.
Back when chasing the future-man Paradox, Yusei had fought shoulder-to-shoulder with Youyu. Others might not know the future Synchro Monster "Stardust Dragon," but Youyu should remember its effect.
Stardust Dragon can negate any effect containing "destroy a card" and destroy it, being the nemesis of destruction-type effects, perfectly countering the destruction-dependent "Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons."
Mr. Youyu knows this yet deliberately activates Gaia's effect... Is it a trap?
Yusei's mind raced in a flash, but he ultimately chose to go with the flow.
"Activate the effect of 'Stardust Dragon'!" Yusei unabashedly countered, "When the opponent targets a card on the field for destruction with Magic, Trap, or Monster Effects, release Stardust Dragon, negate that activation and destroy it!"
Stardust Dragon spread its wings and soared into the sky, emitting a sharp, high-pitched roar. Dazzling starlight enveloped the whole silver dragon, causing it to gradually dissipate, instantly a transparent silver-white glow bound the spiral lance thrust by Gaia.
The domineering energy retaliated fiercely, seemingly about to pulverize Gaia itself.
But at that moment, Youyu swiftly drew Gaia from the Duel Disc, revealing another card.
"At this instant, the effect of 'Soldier Gaia The Fierce Knight' in my hand activates!" Youyu said, "This card can be special summoned from the hand by using a Dragon-Type Fusion Monster on your field as a tribute.
And this effect can be activated even during the opponent's turn!
I tribute 'Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons' on the field to special summon 'Soldier Gaia The Fierce Knight'!"
Gaia the Knight, locked as the target of Stardust Dragon's counterattack, instantly transformed into light particles disappearing from the field. The silver-white impact charged forward aggressively, but the dark knight promptly replaced it, clad in resplendent blue armor, wielding a silver trident, with a fluttering cloak behind.
[Soldier Gaia The Fierce Knight, Attack Power 2600]
Yusei's thoughts stirred.
The goal was originally to lure me into using Stardust's effect, using a second attack to deal larger damage...
"Battle," Youyu declared, "Soldier Gaia The Fierce Knight, direct attack on Yusei!"
Gaia the Knight beside him accelerated abruptly, flashing towards Yusei's D-Wheel like a blink, the trident cutting a crimson trajectory as it fiercely swung down!
But Yusei had defenses prepared!
"Activate Set Card, Trap Card 'Scrap-Iron Scarecrow'!" Yusei said, "Activate upon opponent's attack declaration, negate the attack of one opponent's monster!"
Gaia's trident attacked fiercely, but an amusingly crude scarecrow was released from the flipped trap, its red eyes seemingly mocking.
The trident strongly connected with the scarecrow's frame, sparks like raindrops splattering. The scarecrow shook vigorously before quickly withdrawing back into the Trap Card, returning to a Set state.
"'Scrap-Iron Scarecrow' is not sent to the graveyard after activation but can return to the field Set again," Yusei explained.
The students observing were astonished.
"Not sent to the graveyard... Doesn't that mean it can block attacks every turn?"
"Isn't this too strong?"
Youyu wasn't surprised and silently drew two cards.
"Then I'll set two cards onto the field, end this turn."
"At this moment, the effect of Stardust Dragon in the graveyard!" Yusei said, "The Stardust Dragon released by its own effect can return during the End Phase.
Soar once again—
——Stardust Dragon!!!"
