"Today, I will teach you a new Taijutsu. This Taijutsu is a bit more difficult than the Instant Step. If you have any questions during the lesson, feel free to ask me," Mokgetsu reminded the ninjas.
Although Mokgetsu had developed the Breath of Darkness towards an easier direction, it remained an A-level technique. In Konoha's ranking system, a B-level can be dubbed a high-level Ninjutsu, while A-level is considered super high-level Ninjutsu.
The thirty trainee ninjas had varied expressions upon hearing Mokgetsu's words.
Some showed curiosity, wondering if this Taijutsu was also Mokgetsu's creation, while others were happy since generally, the more difficult something is, the stronger it is.
"This Taijutsu is called Breath of Darkness, an A-level Taijutsu I developed. Its main feature is enhancing the body through concentrated breathing."
Mokgetsu didn't keep them in suspense and briefly introduced the Taijutsu he was about to teach.
"Another technique developed by him, and it's this kind of super high-level Taijutsu," Sarutobi Shinji felt a sense of respect rising toward Mokgetsu after listening to the introduction.
From Sarutobi Shinji's perspective, Breath of Darkness was quite outstanding among A-levels, boosting strength and speeding recovery.
Normally, such a powerful Taijutsu like Breath of Darkness should only be taught to disciples, perhaps even just those who can inherit his abilities. However, Mokgetsu didn't do that; he taught it directly to everyone in this large training session.
Sarutobi Shinji couldn't help but admire Mokgetsu for this.
The other Root Anbu Ninjas were also surprised upon hearing this. Learning a remarkable Instant Body Jutsu like Instant Step was already unexpected, and now there was an even better one.
"The most crucial part of the Breath of Darkness is breathing. Initially, you need to maintain a specific posture to familiarize yourself with the breathing rhythm of Breath of Darkness," Mokgetsu commenced the formal teaching.
It's easier to teach the Root Anbu Breathing Technique now than it was to teach Obito and the others because they are seasoned ninjas who have cultivated for a long time, so maintaining a specific posture for an extended period isn't difficult for them.
At the start of the afternoon training, Mokgetsu used Identification Jutsu for a glance and saw that all the ninjas had shown proficiency in Breath of Darkness, and some even had two points.
Mokgetsu nodded quietly, indicating his modifications were very successful. Getting started in Breath of Darkness was much simpler than the ordinary Breathing Technique.
Even Obito, who perfectly matched Breath of Flame, took three days to gain one proficiency point when he first trained Breath of Flame. Yet, these Root Anbu Ninjas managed to gain proficiency within half a day, making rapid progress indeed.
By the end, the fastest person already had three proficiency points, and even those with the least had one, with the majority at around two.
[Completed one intermediate-level lecture]
[Rating: S]
[Reward obtained: Breathing Technique comprehension improvement, Breath of Darkness +50, Basic Breathing +25, Breath of Thunder +12]
"Indeed, no matter the small number, if the trainees are strong, and the teaching content is excellent, an S-level evaluation can be achieved," Mokgetsu's hypothesis about the system's lecture scoring mechanism was validated.
Now Mokgetsu could essentially determine the three major factors for obtaining an S-level evaluation: the number of students, the students' level, and the teaching quality.
The more these three factors are fulfilled, the higher the possibility of obtaining an S-level evaluation.
For example, during holiday special trainings, the student levels were generally poor, with half being students yet to graduate from the Ninja Academy, but due to the large total number, an S-level evaluation could still be achieved.
"If the number is large, students exceptionally strong, and the teaching quality high, what would the reward look like?" Mokgetsu felt he could look forward to the lecture rewards more.
Looking at it now, there's still a lot of room for improvement in his teaching. He has many Ninjutsu more advanced than Breath of Darkness, and there are certainly more than thirty elite ninjas in Konoha.
Putting aside visions for the future, Mokgetsu looked at the reward column. The S-level evaluation for the intermediate lesson seemed similar to that of a regular course, all involving rewards related to the teaching content.
As for Breath of Darkness as teaching content, it was naturally understood to increase, and since Breath of Darkness was derived from modifications to Basic Breathing, and Mokgetsu referred to a bit of Breath of Thunder during development, their increases also made sense.
Mokgetsu was intrigued by the Breathing Technique comprehension improvement reward. Enhancement in proficiency inherently equals comprehension improvement, but the system singled it out as a separate reward, implying its special significance.
While Mokgetsu pondered, he suddenly had a better idea for developing Breath of Wind, subsequently checking his panel and seeing a slight increase in all Breathing Technique proficiencies.
Mokgetsu somewhat understood this reward now; it's quite literal, deepening Mokgetsu's comprehension of Breathing Techniques, and proficiency improvement is merely one effect among others. It could also yield new insights into hypothetical Breathing Techniques Mokgetsu was envisaging.
Thus, Mokgetsu continued teaching Breathing Techniques for a week. On the second week's Monday, instead of Breathing Techniques, Mokgetsu taught Nature Transformation for a day.
"Taijutsu needs dedicated cultivation, but Ninjutsu should not be neglected either," Mokgetsu gave as a reason.
Of course, it was merely an excuse. Mokgetsu wanted to compare the difference between an S-level evaluation for an intermediate lesson versus a regular course.
