Chapter 496 - Chapter 288: Escalating War (Part 2)

As Kakashi rapidly approached Might Guy, the blade of lightning immediately descended, unleashing an incredibly powerful Thunder Slash.

"Blade Intercept Sword: Golden Horizon!"

At the instant Kakashi charged, Might Guy also moved. Clad in a green bodysuit, he sprinted with all his might, resembling a green light streak.

As he was about to reach Kakashi, Might Guy used a drawing motion with his left hand to drive his right hand forward, finally slicing out a thin golden line.

One wielded a blade, one wielded a finger. Both unleashed their ultimate moves at the same time, and the golden line collided with the Thunder Slash.

Rumble!!

The collision between the golden line and the Thunder Slash produced a massive impact, causing an explosion on the ground, and raising billows of dust, covering the figures of the two.

The gale caused by the move pressed the flowers and trees in Kakashi's courtyard into a bend, as if a sudden storm arose.

Tap tap.

Red blood dripped onto the ground, staining the earth yellow.

Looking at the blood seeping from his finger, Might Guy exclaimed, "As expected from a close friend, a finger that bears my full strength can easily destroy even steel."

"I'll win it back soon." Kakashi said after wiping the blood off his chest.

He lost.

Might Guy's Golden Horizon shattered his Lightning Flash, Might Guy's finger was severely injured by his slash, and he was hurt when Might Guy withdrew just in time.

"Haha, this is exactly what I was anticipating." Might Guy laughed as he wrapped two of his fingers with bandages.

He couldn't wait for Kakashi to grow stronger and challenge him again.

Kakashi sighed inwardly; maintaining the title of Mokgetsu's strongest disciple was truly no easy task.

Then, the two tidied up and went together to Konoha Hospital for treatment.

...

"Breathing must be rhythmic and steady; never let your breathing become chaotic under any circumstances." On the training ground, Mokgetsu continued to teach the Breath of Darkness.

The Root Ninja and Anbu Ninja below focused intently on Mokgetsu's explanation, no one speaking or getting distracted.

The Breathing Technique allows the use of some abilities without even being initiated, and those already halfway through proficiency had felt the enhancement it brings, all eager to master this miraculous Taijutsu soon.

"Teacher Mokgetsu is incredibly generous, offering this Taijutsu could be considered as passing down a clan's legacy." During the break, Sarutobi Shinji remarked.

Before learning, hearing Mokgetsu's introduction, he thought the Breath of Darkness was a quite formidable A-level Taijutsu. After personally experiencing the enhancement it brings, Sarutobi Shinji thought it could serve as a clan Secret Technique.

If he developed such an impressive technique himself, Sarutobi Shinji definitely wouldn't teach it to others and would give it priority as a clan Secret Technique, teaching it at most to his own disciples.

It's precisely because he couldn't do that, he held great respect for Mokgetsu.

Just then, the signal to gather Jonin suddenly came through.

"Let's adjourn for today, it seems something happened in the village." Mokgetsu pondered and said.

Today was not the regular Jonin meeting schedule, so this impromptu Jonin meeting was a sudden gathering.

A few Anbu Jonin followed Mokgetsu heading towards the Hokage Building.

Right now they're off-mission, during off-mission Anbu Ninja equals normal ninja from Konoha.

"Could it be a shift in the battlefield?" Mokgetsu speculated in his mind about the reason for convening the Jonin meeting.

Being in wartime, and considering Jonin meetings are urgently convened only for significant issues, Mokgetsu's first thought was a battlefield problem.

Whether it's animation or manga, there aren't many scenes from the Third Great Ninja War, only some major events, so Mokgetsu couldn't easily judge whether it's the butterfly effect he caused or something from the original work.

"It couldn't possibly be because Tsunade won a round, right?" Mokgetsu thought of the dice game with Tsunade yesterday.

"Jonin Mokgetsu."

After Mokgetsu entered the conference room, some Jonin greeted Mokgetsu with smiles.

"Jonin Akimichi..." Mokgetsu replied with a smile to each greeting.

With increasingly more significant deeds and demonstrated strength, Mokgetsu was no longer an obscure figure among Jonin; in many eyes, he's the rising star second only to Namikaze Minato.

"Let's get a good chicken and make baked chicken today, it's been weeks since we've had it." Tsunade moved directly by Mokgetsu's side upon seeing him and said.

"Shall I also get some drinks?" Mokgetsu asked.

Tsunade generally enjoys sipping sake while munching on chicken legs.

"No need for drinks, you can't choose better than I can, I've already bought some." Tsunade proudly stated.

Though Mokgetsu's cooking was miraculous, due to not drinking much, he wasn't well-versed in alcohol.

The exchange between the two caught the attention of the surrounding Jonin, as it sounded like a family discussing what to have for dinner.

Dekai, who was initially ready to chat a bit with Mokgetsu, silently blended into the crowd.

In his youth, seeing Tsunade viciously beat up Jiraiya had left a profound imprint on his memory, so he was somewhat afraid of Tsunade, a woman daring to beat up his teacher casually.

Minato had no issues with this, wearing a gentle smile as he joined in the conversation with Mokgetsu.

As most of the Jonin gathered, the Jonin meeting officially began, Sarutobi Hiruzen and the other three high leaders sat prominently on high chairs, while the Jonin stood within the conference room.

"Today, the Hidden Mist Village of the Land of Water has declared war on us, Konoha." Sarutobi Hiruzen solemnly announced the urgent reason for convening the Jonin meeting.
