Chapter 635 - Chapter 340: Malice Hidden in the Shadows (Part 2)

Of course, to prevent any unexpected events, Mokgetsu left a Flying Thunder God Kunai with the Shadow Clone, so even if an emergency occurred, he could quickly become aware and rush back.

"There are six villages in total, right? Should we split up? Going in pairs could be faster," Obito suggested after hearing Kakashi explain the mission.

Splitting the four of them would be faster, but even Obito didn't dare to be reckless on the battlefield. It would be manageable with Kakashi and Shisui, but if Nohara Rin encountered enemies, it would be problematic.

"That's not safe. If we want to complete the mission quickly, let's just move faster," Kakashi rejected Obito's suggestion.

If Mokgetsu was present, Kakashi might agree because Mokgetsu's Flying Thunder God could provide quick support, but they didn't have that luxury now.

They didn't even have a Perception Ninja, so if their companions encountered enemies, it would be hard to know in time.

Although certain abilities of the Transparent World were somewhat similar to the Byakugan, it was far less effective and couldn't serve as Perception Ninjutsu.

Moreover, Kakashi's stamina didn't allow him to use the Transparent World as Perception Ninjutsu, as it was his trump card in combat.

"Safety on the battlefield is the most important," Nohara Rin agreed.

"We can use Shadow Clones. Obito and I can each send a Shadow Clone to investigate villages other than where our main bodies are, which can improve efficiency," Shisui suggested after some thought.

Maintaining one's condition on the battlefield is also very important, so Shisui proactively suggested that he and Obito use Shadow Clones because their Chakra levels were considerably higher than Kakashi's and Nohara Rin's.

"That's doable," Kakashi agreed with Shisui's proposal after a brief consideration.

Since this was a B-Class mission during wartime, encountering enemies was almost certain, and using Shadow Clones to gather intelligence was a good choice.

Feeling that Shisui had helped him regain face, Obito smilingly placed his arm around Shisui's shoulder, thinking it was essential to form a united front with Shisui against Kakashi, as Shisui indeed possessed some qualities he lacked.

Next, Shisui and Obito each dispatched a Shadow Clone to investigate other villages, while their main bodies followed Kakashi and Nohara Rin for their investigation.

When faced with the ninjas of their Great Ninja Village, the villagers were naturally forthcoming, revealing all the suspicious individuals they'd seen in recent days.

While Kakashi and his team were investigating the second village, Shisui suddenly recalled a memory of fighting with Hidden Mist Ninjas.

"They're in Tianxia Village, probably a leading Jonin with two Chunin. Obito's Shadow Clone is still stalling them," Shisui quickly organized his words.

His Shadow Clone had dispelled itself purposely to inform the main body about the information on that side.

Although they were quite strong, defeating a Jonin team with just two Shadow Clones was wishful thinking; the main bodies needed to participate in the battle.

"Move out at full speed," Kakashi immediately ordered, and with that, he charged forward at the forefront.

Such a level squad was nothing but a small challenge to them at this point.

Except for Nohara Rin, any member of their squad could take down an ordinary Jonin head-on.

While Nohara Rin couldn't overcome a Jonin in combat, she could protect herself and had formidable support abilities.

This meant their four-member squad's actual combat power consisted of three Jonin and one Medical Special Jonin.

The Hidden Mist Ninjas, realizing that the Konoha Ninja they had defeated was just a Shadow Clone, immediately attempted to retreat, but Kakashi, utilizing the full extent of Breath of Thunder's speed, transformed into a streak of lightning and blocked the Hidden Mist trio.

Although Kakashi seemed like a freshly graduated novice ninja, his impressive entrance made the Hidden Mist Jonin wary not to underestimate him.

Hearing the sound of rapid movement from behind, the Hidden Mist Jonin furrowed his brow and, despite Kakashi's impressive arrival, immediately attacked Kakashi.

"Finish him off quickly! There are more Konoha Ninja behind us," the Hidden Mist Jonin ordered his two subordinates to attack Kakashi after throwing his shuriken.

Though anxious, the Hidden Mist Jonin's extensive experience reminded him that now wasn't the time to panic. If he recklessly attacked and was killed by Kakashi due to underestimating his abilities, his two subordinates would undoubtedly not escape alive.

Conversely, if his two subordinates could gather some information on Kakashi, he might have a chance to counterattack and escape.

Both Hidden Mist Ninjas charged forward, one using Water Release Ninjutsu to unleash a stream towards Kakashi, while the other drew a longsword from his back and swung it at Kakashi.

"Flash!"

Kakashi focused his breathing to enhance his power, converting all Chakra gathered in his legs into Lightning Attribute Chakra, then released it in one swift burst, drawing his White Fang Short Blade to strike forward.

Swoosh!

Kakashi's figure vanished from his original spot as blood sprayed from the Hidden Mist Ninja rushing at him with a sword, while the shuriken and Ninjutsu from the Hidden Mist Ninjas landed on the ground where Kakashi had just stood.

"Such speed and striking precision!" The Hidden Mist Jonin's pupils contracted sharply, surprised that Kakashi managed to avoid the attack and take down an opponent in one swift move.

"Wait, that appearance, it's that strongest Konoha prodigy, Hatake Kakashi!"

Seeing Kakashi's white hair and the electric light surrounding him, the Hidden Mist Jonin finally remembered Kakashi's name.

Before the war began, the Hidden Mist Village had disseminated information on Konoha's prodigies from the Chunin Examination to prioritize their elimination if encountered. Hatake Kakashi was the most dazzling among them, as he had outlasted everyone else and won.

"A guy who was in the Chunin Exam last year now has such power?" The Hidden Mist Jonin was filled with shock.

Initially, he thought Kakashi might be like Karatachi Yagura, looking young but actually being short and with a baby face. Now, it seemed clear that he was a genuine young prodigy.

The Hidden Mist Jonin unhesitantly darted to the side.

Though there was some hope of winning, he didn't want to engage in a battle with a high likelihood of death, especially with Kakashi's teammates on their way.

"Fire Release: Impatiens Claw Red!"

Numerous kunai enveloped in flames rapidly shot towards the retreating Hidden Mist Jonin, forcing him to stop.

As the Hidden Mist Jonin turned his head, he saw a young boy who seemed even younger than Kakashi, slightly panting while still maintaining the action of throwing kunai not far away.

"The ninja I just encountered." Seeing Obito's face, the Hidden Mist Jonin was speechless, wondering if he'd run into Konoha's squad of prodigies, with a team full of geniuses.

"Illusion Instant Body Jutsu!"

Facing the enemy, Shisui had no intention of holding back, immediately activating his Three Tomoe Sharingan to perform Genjutsu Instant Body Jutsu for combat.

At this moment, Kakashi, with another swift slash, swiftly dispatched the other Hidden Mist Chunin and quickly moved beside Shisui to assist.

By the time Obito and Nohara Rin arrived, the Hidden Mist Jonin was already heavily injured. Before Obito could make a move, Kakashi swiftly finished off the Hidden Mist Jonin with a single strike.

"Just missed it!" Obito said reluctantly, ruffling his hair. If he'd been a bit faster, he might have made it.

In fact, Obito could have been faster, but he was worried that Nohara Rin might encounter danger on the way, so he hadn't widened the gap between them too much.

"Mission accomplished, let's head back," Kakashi said decisively.

Kakashi's rampant rush and full-force engagement had drained most of his Chakra and stamina, so he wanted to return as soon as possible to avoid reducing their combat strength if they encountered more enemies.

Obito could only put on a bitter face as they headed back to the camp, initially hoping to outshine Kakashi, but he didn't even get a chance to show off.

This mission made Obito realize something important: sometimes, speed really matters.

With all disciples safe and sound, Mokgetsu also headed back.

Once Mokgetsu departed, Zetsu revealed himself from hiding.

"This guy's protectiveness is a bit excessive, secretly watching over them even on a B-Class mission," Zetsu remarked with some headache, noting this was making it inconvenient for their plans.
