Chapter 672 - Chapter 356: Ninjutsu of War

After some time of fermentation, Obito's life mission progress increased slightly again, successfully refreshing the progress reward once more.

Mokgetsu opened the panel and glanced at Obito's total progress.

[Name: Uchiha Obito]

[Life Mission: It's not the Hokage who is recognized by everyone, but the one who is recognized by everyone who can become the Hokage]

[Main Objective: Become the Hokage of Konoha Village]

[Mission Progress: 31%]

Apart from the relatively special life mission of Kakashi, after this confrontation, Obito's life mission progress remains first, ahead of Might Guy by two percentage points, and is currently the only disciple to trigger the life mission progress reward thrice.

After looking at Obito, Mokgetsu glanced at Shisui, who is a disciple that has not triggered the life mission reward even once so far.

[Name: Uchiha Shisui]

[Life Mission: Uchiha and Konoha]

[Main Objective: Eliminate the conflict between the Uchiha and Konoha and integrate Uchiha into Konoha]

[Mission Progress: 3%]

Mokgetsu understands why this is happening; Obito's life missions generally don't require them to do anything specific, as normal growth can yield progress.

For instance, Obito's life mission of becoming Hokage — with his position in the Hokage system, the more he proves himself a genius and completes missions on the battlefield, the more his life mission will continuously rise, but training and executing missions are things every ninja does and should do.

Obito's mission can even achieve success passively; if Namikaze Minato becomes the Fourth Hokage as in the original work, Mokgetsu estimates that Obito's life mission could leap by over eight percentage points since there is a difference between being the grand-disciple of the Hokage and being the disciple of the Hokage, and the two combined goes without saying.

Shisui's life mission is different; he must intervene in the various decisions of the Uchiha Clan to generate substantial progress, but evidently, a child not yet ten years old like Shisui cannot achieve that, so the progress remains slow.

"It should be better once Shisui makes a name for himself on the battlefield," Mokgetsu thought to himself.

After all, the Hokage world is one with extraordinary power where the strong are revered, and although there's talk that younger generations should respect their seniors, strength means you don't need to adhere to that.

If Shisui makes a name for himself on the battlefield, then no matter how young he is, those Uchiha Jonin won't underestimate Shisui, as the Uchiha Clan places more importance on a ninja's strength than ordinary ninjas.

After closing the panel of Shisui's life mission, Mokgetsu began checking the rewards for Obito's progress settlement.

Chakra goes without saying, as it's something one can never have enough of.

Regarding the drawing scroll, it's more targeted than the 20 progress settlements, having become a draw for fire attribute skills to certainly obtain fire attribute-related skills.

The Master-level Fire Release Ninjutsu has turned into a Ninjutsu Mastery Scroll limited to fire release, making it more flexible in usage. This is something Mokgetsu quite enjoys — acquiring more of it could lead to developing a Perfect Level skill.

As there was no Fire Release Ninjutsu Mokgetsu wanted to elevate, he skipped over the Fire Attribute Ninjutsu Mastery Scroll, washed his hands, and prepared to enter the tense and thrilling lottery phase.

[The Fire Attribute Skill Extraction Scroll·S has been consumed, obtaining the skill — Sunny Day]

With the end of the draw, a significant amount of related cultivation memories surged into Mokgetsu's mind, and he instantly became incredibly proficient in the Fire Release Ninjutsu known as Sunny Day.

"It turns out to be the weather skill from Pokemon." Mokgetsu quickly recalled the related description of this skill in the Pokemon game.

After using Sunny Day, the weather on the field turns sunny, lasting five rounds; Sunny Day allows fire-type skills to deal one-and-a-half times damage, while water-type skills can only deal half damage.

Mokgetsu used Flying Thunder God to leave the Konoha Camp and went to a deserted place to test the skill.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

First, Mokgetsu gathered Chakra in his throat and spat out a large amount of flames.

The blazing flames formed a massive fireball that crashed toward the ground in front of Mokgetsu, creating a charred pit.

"Sunny Day!"

Soon after, Mokgetsu gathered Chakra in his palm, and a very bright ball of light gradually formed there. When Mokgetsu hurled the ball of light into the sky, the sunlight in the fifty-meter area surrounding Mokgetsu suddenly intensified.

After using Sunny Day, Mokgetsu could clearly feel the heat around him rising. He once again gathered Chakra in his throat, precisely accumulating the same amount of Chakra as previously with the Great Fireball, and spat out a giant fireball once more.

Boom!!

The giant fireball struck the ground, creating a charred pit larger than the previous one.

Subsequently, Mokgetsu used Instant Body Jutsu to move out of the Sunny Day area, noticing that the region did not change due to his departure and remained in the Sunny Day state.

"Water Dragon Bomb Jutsu!"

Outside of Sunny Day's range, Mokgetsu formed seals to use Water Release, producing a large amount of water that encircled him, ultimately forming a water dragon that broke through numerous trees continuously.

When Mokgetsu entered the Sunny Day range again and attempted Water Release, before he could execute it, Mokgetsu could feel that using Water Release within Sunny Day required more Chakra to ensure the Water Release's power.

"The basic effect of Ninjutsu is indeed similar to the game skill effect, but the effect isn't as rigid as the game skills." After testing both fire and water Ninjutsu once, Mokgetsu concluded.

In the game, no matter what level or which Pokemon uses Sunny Day, the ultimate effect of Sunny Day doesn't change — still one-and-a-half for fire type and half for water type, even if Groudon comes into play.

Yet in reality, Ninjutsu isn't as rigidly fixed as games, otherwise cultivation wouldn't have any meaning.

The effect of the local Ninjutsu Sunny Day will be determined by the Ninjutsu proficiency and the amount of Chakra used.

The higher the proficiency and the more Chakra used, the larger the area Sunny Day covers, the stronger the amplification effect on Fire Release, and the stronger the reduction effect on Water Release.

Mokgetsu tried using more Chakra to release Sunny Day from a farther distance, finding that the ratio of Chakra consumption to the enhancement of Fire Release power wasn't as favorable as the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode.

"For one-on-one combat, if the opponent isn't a Water Release ninja, directly using the Breath of Flame to enhance Fire Release is the best choice. If the opponent is a Water Release ninja, using Sunny Day would be better," Mokgetsu calculated the cost-effectiveness of the two.

Overall, the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode is more versatile and can handle various situations, but Sunny Day is highly targeted.

However, only kids make choices — adults choose to have it all. Since these two don't conflict, Mokgetsu can first use Sunny Day then enter the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode and subsequently use Fire Release.

Of course, under normal circumstances, Mokgetsu wouldn't do this because it really consumes a lot of Chakra; both Sunny Day and the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode are huge Chakra hogs.

Just now, Mokgetsu consumed forty thousand points of Chakra, merely reaching a Sunny Day covering a two-hundred-meter range, and it only lasted for five minutes.

"However, it's really appropriate for this skill to come up now." Mokgetsu quickly realized the skill was more suitable for use in wartime.

If only one ninja could gain the benefit, consuming so much Chakra wouldn't be worth it. If a hundred Fire Release ninjas all received the Sunny Day boost, the cumulative enhancement could out-blast the Breath of Flame Chakra Mode.

Mokgetsu could only say it was too coincidental that it happens to be the Hidden Mist Battlefield, where most of the enemies are using Water Release Ninjutsu.

If he were to use Sunny Day to cover the battlefield, it might turn an evenly matched situation into a one-sided one.

Mokgetsu once again realized the value of the S-level Extraction Scroll — there really isn't any worthless skill.

If the effect of Sunny Day was spread around, the Hidden Mist Village might go crazy and dispatch ninjas to hunt him down, while Konoha might specifically assemble a Fire Release ninja squad for him, as it's essentially a group buff.
