Might Guy flew out, leaving two long scrape marks over eight meters on the ground before barely coming to a stop.
"What an interesting Taijutsu." Might Guy stretched his unperturbed body, his expression growing more excited.
In Breath of Rock Chakra Mode, his defense was strong, and such a counterattack was not enough to injure him.
Might Guy was curious whether Hyuga Hiashi's Chakra Shield could withstand his Golden Horizon.
But for now, Might Guy only thought about it. Even with the Five Gates State of Breath of Rock Chakra Mode opened, it put him under great pressure, and using normal Taijutsu was fine, but using Golden Horizon would definitely injure his palm.
If Kakashi wanted to gauge Might Guy's strength, he would use it, but this was a Jonin examination, so it wasn't worth it.
"Konoha Dragon God!"
A large amount of Chakra exploded within Might Guy's body. His body spun rapidly and transformed into a gigantic azure dragon.
Using Konoha Dragon God brought considerable pressure, but using it once was not a problem.
Whoosh!!
A frightening gale arose suddenly, with airflow like Wind Blades destroying everything around Might Guy and sucking it into the azure dragon, whose expanding body seemed ready to annihilate everything.
"It's Teacher Chen's Taijutsu." Hyuga Hiashi recognized Might Guy's Taijutsu and frowned slightly.
Revolving Heaven wasn't omnipotent; it wasn't very suitable against a Taijutsu like Konoha Dragon God.
"Eight Trigrams Air Wall Palm!"
Without hesitation, Hyuga Hiashi immediately concentrated all his Chakra in both palms to unleash his most powerful Taijutsu.
Boom!!
Palms infused with massive amounts of Chakra struck the air, producing a deafening roar. The powerful force broke all the trees in front of Hyuga Hiashi, and then collided with the enormous azure dragon.
Bam! Bam!
The shock waves from the clash of two powerful forces shook the ground, causing an explosion and halting the azure dragon's advance, even forcing it to retreat under the immense force.
Yet, as Might Guy continued to exert pressure, the azure dragon steadfastly withstood it, eventually breaking through Hyuga Hiashi's force one step at a time.
Hyuga Hiashi's hands drooped, sharp Wind Blades tearing through his clothes and leaving marks on his body.
"Examination concluded!" The judge immediately announced the exam's early conclusion and called for both to stop upon seeing the situation.
Might Guy quickly redirected the azure dragon and ceased supplying Chakra, exiting the Eight Gates and Breath of Rock Chakra Mode.
"Whew." Might Guy exhaled heavily, lightly touching his heart and lungs.
"I still need to strengthen my training to make my body tougher!" Might Guy thought to himself.
His hardware couldn't match his software; Breath of Rock Chakra Mode placed too much pressure on his body—not due to the mode itself, but because his body wasn't strong enough to endure such powerful force.
Might Guy contemplated while walking out of the combat zone, and Hyuga Hiashi's expression was complex as he watched Might Guy's back.
Not long ago, he felt regretful seeing Mimura Hamaki defeated by examinees, ending the investigation early; he didn't expect today to be his turn.
"If a genius appeared in the Hyuga Clan like this, then perhaps Konoha's top family would no longer be the Uchiha," Hyuga Hiashi thought with some unwillingness.
Both were Dojutsu Kekkeigenkai, inherited by great ninja clans for ages, and people always unconsciously compared the Hyuga to the Uchiha.
The comparison was undoubtedly in favor of the Uchiha Clan, which was far stronger than the Hyuga; otherwise, why would the top family be the Uchiha?
Though the Uchiha had a poor reputation in Konoha, everyone could see who was stronger.
However, despite the Uchiha's greater strength, Hyuga Clan ninjas were more favored.
One reason was the Uchiha Clan's generally arrogant temperament; another was the strategic value of the Byakugan.
Uchiha Sharingan was strong, but it only strengthened the Uchiha possessing it.
On the other hand, the Hyuga Clan's Byakugan allowed the entire team to have an ultra-long vision, like having full map transparency.
"Hopefully, the next generation will produce better children," Hyuga Hiashi acknowledged himself.
Though he wasn't weak, he couldn't compare to geniuses like Namikaze Minato and Habu Mokgetsu; he could only maintain the Hyuga Clan's status and couldn't lead them further.
If this generation doesn't succeed, then he must pin hopes on the next. Hyuga Hiashi resolved to rigorously educate and cultivate his descendants, producing talented ninjas like Hatake Kakashi and Might Guy.
...
Might Guy enjoyed the combat examination, but when it came to the afternoon theory test, he was stumped.
He couldn't understand it; he recognized all the characters, but together they formed an unfamiliar pattern to Might Guy.
Might Guy would rather battle the Seven-Swords Ninja again than face those difficult questions.
Despite his feelings, in order to obtain the excellent ninja certification sooner, Might Guy kept his patience and filled out the test completely.
He wasn't sure how much was correct, but he wrote quite a lot.
"He truly is a cherished friend, crossing such difficulties to become a Jonin." Emerging tiredly from the exam room, Might Guy remarked.
Tortured by countless complex problems, he finally understood why being a Jonin served as proof of an excellent ninja; one must read countless books and memorize extensive knowledge to even pass such a challenging exam.
Feedback from the Jonin examination was quick.
"Your combat was excellent, nearly perfect, but your theory fell short in several areas; your overall examination score wasn't sufficient for Jonin promotion." The notifying ninja conveyed gently.
"Haha, it was really disastrous, as expected." Might Guy scratched his head, unsurprised.
He had never excelled in theory.
"There's a chance for a retake. Continued efforts can lead to Jonin promotion." The notifying ninja offered comfort as usual.
Actually, he felt it was tough for Might Guy to pass the Jonin exam via theory, but saying so would be hurtful.
Moreover, Might Guy didn't necessarily need to proceed through the Jonin exam path; with enough battlefield achievements, he could easily ascend to Jonin.
"Since I've failed, I have no choice; I'll try harder next time." Might Guy encouraged himself.
Later that day, Kakashi and Obito came to find Might Guy.
"Guy, you didn't get promoted to Jonin either, did you?" Obito asked eagerly upon entering.
Obito didn't hope for anything bad; he'd just feel awkward if Might Guy passed.
With three participating in the Jonin examination, if he was the sole one failing, it would be too embarrassing.
"Obito, you really have a way with words; don't say that next time." Kakashi was a bit speechless.
Might Guy didn't mind, nodding openly, "They said my theory score was too low and told me to study hard for the retake."
Obito's face broke into an uncontrollable smile as he clung to Might Guy's shoulder—not passing wasn't terrible; not having brothers struggle alongside was.
"This theory exam is too tough, unreasonable. When we become the leadership, let's jointly abolish the theory exam!" Obito said, sharing camaraderie.
"You don't have to take theory exams when you're in leadership, so abolishing it doesn't make a difference." Might Guy answered honestly.
Awakening to Obito's realization, he suddenly understood.
If he became leadership, no one could test him; he would be the one testing others.
Abolishing theory would only benefit others, letting them enjoy the advantages.
"Then we'll raise the exam difficulty, making Konoha's ninjas elite among elites." Obito corrected himself.
Kakashi regarded Obito with disdain—you're really acting immature now.
"We'll handle future matters later. Let's discuss important business." Kakashi interrupted.
He didn't come to watch Obito change step by step into the person he disliked most; he came to discuss returning to the battlefield.
