After a simple test of the Repairing Elixir's effects, Mokgetsu returned to the camp as fast as possible, then found Might Guy and the others.
Having just completed a challenging S-level mission, Kakashi and his team were currently on a break, not undertaking any missions.
Obito's eyes lit up as he saw Mokgetsu walking over with a large egg.
"Teacher Mokgetsu, is that also the egg of a very powerful Summoning Beast?" Obito asked curiously.
Previously, Mokgetsu had given Kakashi a Summoning Beast Egg, emphasizing its great potential, which made Obito a bit envious.
He still didn't have a Summoning Beast and was especially eager to form a contract with one that was cool and powerful.
What worried Obito most was the thought of future battles against Kakashi.
If he was equally skilled compared to Kakashi but lost because Kakashi had a strong Summoning Beast, Obito would definitely be furious.
"It's hard to say how powerful it is, but it definitely won't be bad," Mokgetsu thought for a moment and replied.
The unknown factors with a Pokemon Egg were too large, it could be a Dratini or it could be a Caterpie.
As Mokgetsu answered Obito's questions, he greeted other students, finally walking up to Might Guy and handing him a brand new Ninja Certificate.
"What's this..." Might Guy didn't realize at first, but when he saw the words 'Jonin' under Ninja Level on the certificate, he couldn't contain his excitement.
This was a big and happy surprise for Might Guy.
Just recently, he hadn't passed the Jonin evaluation due to theory exams, and now he had inexplicably been promoted to Jonin.
"What is it that's making you so happy?" Obito, seeing Might Guy laughing out loud, curiously came over.
"A Ninja Certificate, did you lose your certificate during a mission, Guy?" Obito thought Mokgetsu was helping Might Guy get a replacement certificate.
When Obito saw the Ninja Level section, his face changed, eyes wide, mouth open in shock.
"This isn't right, how can it be Jonin? Guy, didn't you fail the Jonin evaluation?" Obito couldn't help but ask.
They were brothers who failed together, how did Might Guy suddenly sneak ahead to become a Jonin?
Obito would rather believe a mistake was made by the clerical staff than believe Might Guy became a Jonin.
"Not passing the Jonin evaluation doesn't mean you can't become a Jonin," Kakashi glanced at the certificate, thought for a moment, and said.
Unlike Obito, Kakashi didn't think it was a mistake.
"What the heck, failing is failing, how can someone be promoted?" Obito was puzzled by Kakashi's explanation.
"You can chop down a tree with a sword, or break it with a Chakra-enhanced punch. My point is, there's more than one path to becoming a Jonin," Kakashi explained using a metaphor.
Obito looked to Mokgetsu, still thinking that words from Mokgetsu's mouth were the most credible and easy to understand.
Mokgetsu nodded, affirming Kakashi's words, "Guy's achievements have been recognized by the Third Hokage, and so he was specially promoted to Jonin."
Hearing Mokgetsu's words, Might Guy straightened his back; he was now a recognized excellent ninja by the Hokage, and stabilizing the title of Mokgetsu's strongest disciple was a solid step towards becoming the strongest in Taijutsu.
Upon hearing Mokgetsu, Obito basically realized who the Summoning Beast Egg was intended for.
"Teacher Mokgetsu, is there any news about me?" Obito still held a sliver of hope in his heart.
Might Guy graduated at the same time as him, and they had always been teammates on the battlefield, so theoretically, his achievements should be similar to Might Guy's.
Mokgetsu shook his head and looked at Shisui, "Besides Guy, Shisui has gained the eligibility to participate in the Jonin evaluation and can return to the village to take the test once reported."
Obito froze like a statue, appearing very stiff and in shock.
When Kakashi first became a Jonin, Obito could use Kakashi's longer time as a ninja as an excuse, but for Might Guy to become a Jonin first, Obito had no excuse, as they had come up from the lowest rank together.
Before Mokgetsu joined the Ninja Academy, they were known as the underdogs and Obito's grades were slightly better than Might Guy's.
After becoming Mokgetsu's disciples, they gradually rose from being at the bottom to geniuses, with mutual victories and losses during their time in the Ninja Academy, overall matching each other.
Now they were comrades fighting together on the battlefield, failing the Jonin exam together, but Might Guy had been promoted to Jonin due to his merits, whereas Obito had nothing, essentially being overshadowed by Might Guy.
Thinking about how Shisui could take the Jonin exam, and given his well-rounded skills, had a high chance of passing, Obito instantly felt despair.
If Shisui became a Jonin, then Obito would truly be the only one among Mokgetsu's disciples who was not a Jonin.
Obito, who once pitied Nohara Rin for becoming a Special Jonin without a chance to take the Jonin exam, now considered being a Special Jonin as not a bad option.
"The Jonin exam, huh." Shisui fell into thought.
Shisui was actually quite happy now, having a sense of harvest after hard work, like reaping a bounty after diligent cultivation.
Before Obito and the others left, Shisui had been doing mission together with them and while they returned to Konoha to rest, Shisui remained on the battlefield executing missions, resting only when injured.
Advancing to Jonin was one of Shisui's motivations on the battlefield, knowing that becoming Jonin would make him more respected within the Uchiha Clan Council, giving his opinions more weight.
