Chapter 92 - Chapter 91 : For the Sake of Whom I Love (3)

"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! OUR FAMILY IS BROKEN BECAUSE OF YOU!"

I could hear a man shouting at someone, but I couldn't see anything in this pitch black darkness.

"I don't need an incompetent man like you! My life was better before I met you!"

A woman answered him, in the same accusing tone the man had.

[Why are my parents fighting? Can't you just stop already?]

"You bitch! You dare bring another man to my house?!"

"What?! You've taken my virginity now you want to take my freedom too?!"

[She's the problem, just chase her out already!]

"That fucking whore! She left me for that guy?! What does he have that I lack? Is it money? The looks? Huh- Hey you useless brat! Where do you think you're going huh?! Come here, you little shit!"

[No! Stop hitting me! Stop yelling at me!]

"Hey! *Hic* Stop freeloading in my house *hic* and get a job!"

[What about my school? It's almost time for highschool entrance exam.}

"Huh?! What the hell is this? A drawing? Why would you waste your time on something useless like this?! Find a real job will you?!"

[But it's the only way I could escape from you.]

[Stop it already!]

[Why?]

[Why am I the only one who can't enjoy a single nice thing in this world?]

[Oh I know! Let's just create a comic where the main character suffered as much as me! That way I won't feel alone!]

[Only my main character understands me, the others can be mean to him, but he will defeat everyone and make them fall in love with him! The same way people will bow down to my creation!]

[They should be mean, they have to!]

[THAT'S WHY YOU DESTROYED EVERYTHING!]

A desperate shout full of anguish. An unhealed trauma reflected in their creation.

That was the author's emotional pain as they were making this comic — and that emotion flowed into me.

Now I knew why they hated my existence so much. I was disturbing the sanctuary they built for themselves. I was their target all along, an unwanted existence in this universe, a bug in the system.

This boss I was facing right now was the personification of the author, their last attempt to completely rid me of this world. Their first attempt to kill me was cut off by Grandma Zaza, and their attempt to change me from the inside wasn't as successful as they planned, so their last contingency plan was this.

One that I would destroy now.

After all, no matter what sob story you had, this world had become my reality, and so did the people around me. If you messed with them, I wouldn't stand down just like that.

"Heh, you must have changed the story so much just to fix your world huh?"

"You-! Who sent you?!"

"If I know I wouldn't loiter in your world for this long and wouldn't fall in love with the very same main character you torture for your fun."

I replied with the most honest answer I could muster. It was a fact after all. If I knew a way to go back, I would do it without blinking.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, but that body you borrow is a boss that might threaten the very world you love. So could you kill yourself?"

The author's flabbergasted face was a sight to see. I almost let out a chuckle.

"You are still here, so if I killed myself what benefit do I get?"

"Don't worry." I pulled my collar down and showed my neck, the red veins had spread to almost the center of my body. "I'll die soon anyway."

"You-! Give my Ethan his body back!"

Countless half torn faced monsters rose up from the ground.

"This again? Don't you have anything more interesting?"

I taunted the boss as I flicked my hand, a huge amount of blood floated in the air before it slowly merged into a solid shape.

"Like this thousand swords attack, for example?"

STAB! STAB! STAB!

The blood swords cut through the flesh of the monsters, reducing their number quite significantly.

"Shield me!"

The author used the monsters to build a huge wall by stacking them together, truly an ugly sight to behold.

"Do you know what makes battle interesting? It was the art of strategy and skills used to counter enemy attacks. So to make things more beautiful, how about I bring something a fantasy enjoyer like me would like?" I smirked, "Maybe you could use this as a reference for your next work."

Swirl of blood formed underneath my feet. All the blood from my vicinity gathered into a huge sphere on top of my head — even the blood from the dome surrounding us and the blood splattered across the street.

Molding it into shape, it hardened into everyone's favorite mystical creature.

A skull dragon opened its mouth.

It gathered the rest of the blood into its maw, ready to fire.

"Tsk-!"

Blood hands held down the boss. Now they had nowhere to dodge.

Another chuckle escaped my mouth, "Watch closely." Keeping my gaze on the author, I placed my hand on my chest and elegantly gave a bow.

"The technique of aura farming."

BLAST!

A laser beam consisted of sharp thin needles was aimed at the author, wiping them and every last one of those ugly monsters from this world.

"Aghh!!!"

The echo of the boss' scream slowly faded as its body slowly vanished.

I couldn't help but smirk. It might have the body of a powerful being, but with the puppeteer lacking control of its own puppet, it was easily destroyed with a simple blast.

When the dragon attack ended, all that was left was blood splattered everywhere, not leaving any flesh behind.

The red sky turned back to its blue color, the white castle was no more. The threat had truly been wiped from this world.

The only thing left was to set the story right so the people in this world could live peacefully, and the only way to do that was to remove the 'bug' in this world.

"Haha..." A weak laugh escaped my mouth.

I rummaged through my pocket and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper. It was the paper Grandma Zaza gave to me.

"..."

I tore it in half.

'This is the end of my life anyway.'

An esper going on a rampage had a low chance of survival. While I trusted Ilyas could help me, my guilt wouldn't allow me to live.

After fighting the author and catching a glimpse of their emotion, I reached a conclusion : 'This world would try to fix itself again and again, forcing out a foreign being like me from their system.'

If I kept being selfish and stayed in this world for long, it wouldn't just be me that the author might hurt, the people around me would be affected too.

Who knows how many more times the author would create a scenario like this and endanger the people I loved?

Just like the author said, I had no right to live here.

I pulled out my house key and gazed lovingly at the violin keychain beside it. My bloodied hand smeared on its surface as I hold it tight.

THUD!

I collapsed on the ground. My vision blurred as I could hear my heart give out its last pump. It would only take mere seconds before my brain was totally dead.

"Ethan!"

Ilyas was running toward me. If he had woken up, he must have already received treatment from a healer.

'I'm glad.'

At least, no one I loved and cherished died.
