World Championship Tournament, duel venue.
The magnificent and spectacular White Dragon Duel Arena, the entire dome looks like a giant white dragon's head resting on the ground. Inside the venue, there is a cacophony of voices, countless excited hearts beating together, weaving a grand prelude.
The audience is a sea of people, with no empty seats. The noise gathers into an unstoppable torrent as the competition approaches, cheers, and applause rise and fall, as if they could lift the White Dragon dome.
This is the highest championship tournament in the Professional Alliance, a highly anticipated event. Various TV stations are broadcasting the live coverage of the match, including many from the Duel Academy who are watching via television.
Judai and his followers complained that the TV in the Red Dormitory was too small and often had poor reception, so they asked Yugen if they could borrow his TV. Yugen agreed, with no inconveniences, and invited them to his place to watch.
As the contestants took the stage, the cheers inside the venue reached their peak.
"Today's challenger to D.D. is Dr. Corekta, a super criminal with an IQ of 200, under multiple charges, who escaped from prison!"
Spotlights focused on the center, revealing a scruffy-looking man with a large beard. He wore a straitjacket, hands still shackled, indeed looking as if he had just escaped from prison to play cards.
Back then, when Yugen first saw this guy, he couldn't help but ridicule him in his heart. A felon with multiple charges coming to play cards was truly absurd; could this guy really be here just to play cards after breaking out of prison?
Isn't appearing on TV so brazenly going to get him caught?
"Oh, I've heard of this man!"
Judai's new follower this year, Bladehill, said.
"I heard he's a super-genius duelist, always assisting the FBI with cases even in prison."
Then the prisoner roared, flexed his arms, and astonishingly broke free from the straitjacket, exploding it into countless pieces of fabric with raw strength.
Indeed, card players all seem to be superhuman in constitution too; this strength has already transcended human levels.
Then, under everyone's watch, the legendary champion, D.D., took the stage as well.
The audience awaited in great anticipation, and Judai and his friends were excited, discussing how the prisoner was a genius duelist capable of reading opponents' minds, and a master of card crime, wondering about his chances against the champion.
However, Yugen knew that as long as the world line remains unchanged, the result is already predetermined.
As expected, the duel progressed precisely as anticipated.
To be fair, just from the surface appearance, this prisoner Dr. Corekta indeed has some skill. His end phase forces were considered quite threatening even from the perspective of card enthusiasts of the time.
He started with a Continuous Magic "Dimensional Rift," sending both sides' monsters to be banished from the game rather than placed in the graveyard. The magic version of Great Cosmos, indisputable suppression.
Then, using "Dimensional Rift," he simultaneously sent and banished five monsters, pulled out a real-world Forbidden Card "Dimension Fusion," and summoned all banished monsters back to the field in one go.
Thus, on the first turn, he summoned Cosmic Queen, Black Mage Kulan, and three Magical Valkyries.
This bearded, burly, cuffed brute summoned an all-girl card deck consisting of older sister and lolita types, which seemed complete and balanced; upon first glance the style appeared rather incongruous.
But upon reconsideration, it actually didn't seem inappropriate, and was indeed a deck fit for a true man...
With Magical Valkyrie on the field, opponents cannot attack other Mage Race creatures. Three simultaneously on the field equate to a full attack blockade; opponents cannot declare attacks at all.
Dimensional Rift's effect, sending all graveyard-bound monsters to be banished, equates to having unearthed the opponent's grave.
Black Mage Kulan, deals damage equal to the number of one's own monsters on the field x 300 points each turn. He summoned five monsters in one turn, dealing 1500 damage per turn.
Then the prisoner supplemented with a Magic Card "Magic Burst," dealing damage equal to one's own mage race monsters on the field x 200, burning another 1000 points.
Finally, he set a trap card, Underworld ancestor "Torture Wheel," which can bind an opponent's monster from attacking and burns 500 points each turn.
Such a lockdown and formation is undoubtedly overwhelmingly disadvantageous as the opponent.
Yet facing this situation, D.D. suddenly burst into laughter.
"Is this all?"
D.D. laughed heartily.
The prisoner tensed: "What's so funny?"
"Nothing." D.D.'s grin was sinister. A face never before seen in public.
"I was just thinking that mortal genius is ultimately only at this level. The power I possess has already surpassed your imagination, but the price is merely selling my soul to a demon."
"What are you talking about?" Corekta shouted, "I'm a prisoner; the demon is in my heart!"
"Not that comical stuff. Now behold the true demon!
My turn!"
It was D.D.'s turn. He revealed three Demon Sanctuaries at once, summoning three Metal Demon Derivatives, then raised his arms and bellowed: "Offer the three Metal Demon Derivatives as tribute and descend now!
Ultimate—"
The scene abruptly cut off.
Before the live broadcast ended, there seemed to be muffled sounds of a massive explosion, like something detonating. Some terrifying power was unleashed and could even be vaguely felt through the TV screen.
Then it was a static screen, nothing visible in the image.
"What's going on!" Bladehill exclaimed, frustrated, "Right at the critical moment."
Judai frowned: "What he was summoning just now... there's a strange feeling..."
The broadcast interrupted, none knew what happened next, nor the duel's outcome. But Yugen understood even without watching the scene.
Although Dr. Corekta's formation was suppressive, it was unfortunately soloed by Ultimate D.
D.D. had probably offered the three Derivatives as tribute and summoned Blood Demon D, activating the Magic Card "D Force." This card only appeared in anime later collected in physical cards, with the original Blood Demon D requiring D Force to unveil its true power.
When D Force is present, Blood Demon D can nullify all monster effects on the opponent's field, so the attack blockade of Magical Valkyrie was dismantled.
And with D Force, any magic trap effect targeted at Blood Demon D by the opponent becomes nullified and destroyed, so Torture Wheel was rendered ineffective too.
Lastly, although Blood Demon D initially has only 1900 attack power, it can absorb an opponent's field monster to gain half its attack power. So D.D. likely absorbed Cosmic Queen with Blood Demon D, acquiring its attack power, while Dr. Corekta had paid 2000 LP during the last turn for "Dimension Fusion," thus Blood Demon D knocked him out with one punch.
Judai and his friends were passionately discussing the recent duel, while Yugen was already pondering.
It was remembered after this match, D.D. directly sought Ed and revealed everything to him. D.D. was then defeated by Ed, and Blood Demon D returned to Ed's hands.
If one wants to research this card, either contact Ed after he collects Blood Demon D, or make a move in advance before Ed succeeds—this now seems to be the last opportunity.
