Alien Insect, the deck that Doma enthusiastically gifted to Yugen in the past. However, Yugen didn't really like reptiles personally, so besides occasionally using specific Alien Insects for juggling, he had seldom used this deck until now.
But now, paired with Professor Kobra's snake venom, it seems to have some development value.
First, let's not talk about anything else. The Alien Insect deck contains the most important terminal card, the twenty-sixth Alien Insect, the ultimate creature that is the beginning and end of the Alien Insects: Alien Insect Zero.
The fusion condition for this card is at least two Reptile Race monsters with "Alien Insect" in their names, with no upper limit. Therefore, if you use "Future Fusion," you can let the Alien Insects fuse from the card deck. With just this one card, you can easily send more than twenty Alien Insects from the deck directly to the graveyard in one go.
And both the Poisonous Snake King and the Poisonous Snake God on Professor Kobra's side have their attack power determined by the number of reptiles in the graveyard. The more Reptile Race monsters there are, the higher the attack power.
So you can imagine, with one Future Fusion targeting the Fusion Deck's Alien Insect Zero, sending twenty to thirty Reptile Race cards to the graveyard in one go. In such a scenario, if the Poisonous Snake God is summoned, it would easily create an ultimate monster with one or two million attack power, unaffected by card effects, cannot be banished, and triggers a three-turn rule victory countdown with just one hit on the opponent.
Moreover, aside from using Alien Insect Zero to fill the graveyard, as a Reptile-themed deck, the Alien Insect system is still much stronger than Professor Kobra's sluggish snake venom series.
The Alien Insect system itself also contains some big monsters, and quite a few small monsters with rather Underworld-like reverse effects. Even disregarding the terminal, its combat power is not something the sluggish snake venom can match.
Based on constructing around the Alien Insect system and using the Poisonous Snake God as the deck's core trump card, Yugen thinks this idea has potential.
Of course, since there's the thought of building this deck, Yugen would also need to look for other Reptile Race cards that can be supportive. However, in the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! race, the Reptile Race is indeed rather weak, and not many can be really useful.
So this day ended with him tinkering in the lab until it was very late before returning to the dormitory.
On the way back, he was flipping through the card deck in his hand, which he hadn't decided how to build yet. While advancing, suddenly, he heard a strange shout "Ah-woo" in the darkness.
Yugen looked up in surprise and stopped in his tracks. He looked around and saw a green-armored beast crawling out from the woods. It was a crocodile, looking fierce and baring its teeth at him.
"Ah, sorry, sorry—"
Before he had time to react, a panting voice came from behind.
Then he saw a western cowboy-like out-of-school friend, Jim, quickly running up and hugging the crocodile, giving an embarrassed smile.
"Sorry about that, Kalan is usually very gentle. It's just that it gets excited when it encounters a strong person..."
Yugen knew that Kalan was the name of the crocodile.
Yugen wasn't afraid of this crocodile. In fact, there were very few things that scared him now. He smiled indifferently and asked, "I remember you're... Jim Cook?"
"Yes."
Jim extended his hand to him.
"Nice to meet you, the legendary King. In fact... Hehe, although it's a bit embarrassing to say, I was actually waiting here for you."
"Oh?"
Jim put the crocodile back on his back, glanced at it, and smiled.
"Actually, my biggest expectation when coming to this Academy was to meet you. And it would be even better if we could duel for guidance. Kalan also said the same."
As if to respond to his words, the crocodile on his back also let out an excited roar.
"A duel, with me?"
Yugen thought for no reason that in the GX Manga, Jim, when he first came to the Academy, was also eager to challenge the Academy's king in the small grove. But in the manga, the Academy's king referred to Asuka's brother, King Fubuki.
However, it should be noted that the characters in the manga often have significant differences from the animation.
"Yes, seeing strong people from around the world is the dream of Kalan and me," Jim said with a smile. "Oh, of course, I know as a king you must be very busy. So if it's inconvenient, then forget about it..."
Yugen did not respond immediately and looked at the bandage on Jim's face.
This person had an exposed left eye, while his right eye was covered by a bandage, inexplicably reminding one of the Evil King's True Eye.
"Your right eye..." Yugen said.
"Oh, this." Jim touched his bandaged eye and said, "This is called the 'Eye of Orichalcos,' which I received when I was a child. The person who gave it to me said it has incredible power... but I've hardly used it to this day."
Yugen nodded.
Although the name Orichalcos is a bit sensitive, its spelling is different from the Orichalcos in DM, it's just that the pronunciation is similar, hence some translations are the same. The plot did not indicate any connection between the two.
But this eye is undoubtedly a Divine Artifact. In the animation, Jim used this eye to break through, and the duelist's "aura" once exploded to a level that could rival the Overlord. O'Brien could ultimately exchange blows with the Overlord one-to-one, largely because of this eye left by Jim.
Yugen became interested.
"Sure," he smiled.
He was also very interested in Jim's card deck. In the future, Jim's deck was turned into physical cards and possessed potential completely surpassing the current era.
In fact, Yugen had previously thought about whether to recruit this person for research during this semester's exchange opportunity.
Being able to probe now is not bad either.
Jim was thrilled: "Then I must apologize. We're going in, Kalan!"
The crocodile on his back roared again, seemingly filled with fighting spirit.
"Duel!" x2
[Yugen, LP4000]
[Jim, LP4000]
"I'll go first, draw a card!"
Jim glanced at the card he drew and immediately played it.
"Defense Position Summon 'Shell Knight'!"
As its name suggests, it looked like a knight entirely composed of shells. The whole body was a robust armor constructed of white shells, with both arms resembling large lobster-like pincers made of interlocking shells.
[Shell Knight, Defense Power 2000]
"The Monster Effect of Shell Knight!" Jim said, "This card, upon successful summon, inflicts 500 points of damage to the opponent!"
Shell Knight's large pincers lifted, and a series of bubble-like projectiles launched out, exploding thunderously at Yugen's location.
[Yugen, LP4000→ LP3500]
This was a card Jim used in the original story, which wasn't made into a physical card until over a decade later.
In the original story, it only had the summon damage effect, but the physical card of Shell Knight added another effect. If this card is sent to the graveyard, you can add an Eight-Star Rock Race monster from the deck to the hand. If you have the Magic Card "Fossil Fusion" in your graveyard, you can even Special Summon that monster directly.
Due to the era of its card realization, Jim's entire deck received an epic level super enhancement in reality.
At this moment, as Yugen received the damage, he couldn't help but reveal a smile.
He was already looking forward to seeing the physical card Fossil series.
Jim: "I set one card face-down, and end my turn!"
