Chapter 972 - Chapter 760: The Illuminated Tower

Kael's appearance disrupted the original situation in the tower.

Thus, an interesting scene unfolded: on one side of the tower were a trembling Malfoy and a seemingly frail Dumbledore.

On the other side, two Death Eaters were arguing vehemently over Kael's allegiance, almost breaking into a fight on the spot.

But Kael paid them no mind, only looking toward that familiar figure in the crowd.

"Long time no see, Professor Oren." Kael greeted with an outstretched hand, appearing like old friends not seen for a while.

"Indeed." Oren said calmly, "Long time no see, it's rare that you still remember me."

"So, are you not planning to make a bid?" Kael asked with a smile.

"What?"

Oren was taken aback at first, but soon understood his meaning, instinctively looking at the bickering Alecto and Antonin.

"No, I'm new here, I have no say." He shrugged, "Just leave it to them.

"After all, the Dark Lord only ordered Draco to kill Dumbledore, as for you, he gave no specific orders; it doesn't matter who does it, as long as the task is completed."

"Is that so?"

"Of course, I have no reason to lie to you, do I?" Oren said, then walked over to sit by the window, appearing to idle away and watch the show.

...

Tsk, Kael clicked his tongue, feeling a bit disappointed.

His indifferent demeanor also displeased the surrounding Death Eaters.

Alecto and Antonin quickly reached an agreement... they decided to attack together, and whoever could kill Kael would rely on their own abilities.

But just as the two raised their wands, the door behind Kael suddenly exploded open.

A flaming arm violently smashed through the oak door, appearing before everyone.

Next came the head, the body... in just a few seconds, a giant composed of flames appeared behind Kael.

Due to limited space, the giant had only one head and two arms, and beneath its neck was Fiendfyre roaring like ocean waves.

The temperature in the tower began to soar, with constant crackling sounds echoing.

"Kael, you..."

Dumbledore was stunned; given the limited space in the tower, such large-scale Fiendfyre was practically an indiscriminate attack.

In that moment, he disregarded everything else, appearing in the corner with astonishing speed, reaching out to pull Harry out from under the Invisibility Cloak.

At the same time, he caught the flying wand, pointing it at Malfoy from afar.

An invisible force pulled Malfoy to Dumbledore's side, while the oncoming Fiendfyre was halted five inches in front of the three of them.

Malfoy, having escaped a calamity, looked at the churning Fiendfyre in front and could no longer hold on. Tears and snot smeared his face, and then he fainted.

But the others weren't as fortunate to receive Dumbledore's protection.

The Death Eater closest to the door was directly punched by the Fiendfyre Giant, followed by a shadow swiftly slicing his neck before he turned to ash.

Meanwhile, the surrounding Fiendfyre seemed conscious, automatically avoiding the finishing blow from the Nundu.

"Gibbon, damn it!"

"Protego Totalum!"

"Iron Armor Spell!"

Terror-stricken screams emanated from the Death Eaters all around.

The tower's windows shattered, with Fiendfyre surging out through the openings. From afar, it seemed like a giant blazing torch was inserted at the highest point of Hogwarts, illuminating the pitch-black night sky.

After what seemed like a few seconds, or maybe minutes, the flames extinguished.

Since Hogwarts Castle already had a certain degree of magic, the main structure of the tower wasn't significantly damaged, although it was considerably blackened.

Inside the tower, Harry and Malfoy, under Dumbledore's protection, remained unharmed.

As for the Death Eaters...

Snape and Oren reacted the fastest, escaping through the windows the moment the Fiendfyre surged in.

Oren might have intentionally chosen that particular spot by the window; among all, he fled the quickest, even before Kael could react, disappearing in a blink.

Antonin, who had previously boasted of killing Kael, also fled. In the final moment, he aimed his wand at the nearby Alecto, using her body as a shield against the first wave of Fiendfyre, then ruthlessly severed his own Fiendfyre-ensnared right leg, forcing himself out the window.

Alecto, backstabbed by her teammate, lay motionless on the ground, hanging by a thread.

But luckier than the Death Eater named Gibbon, she wasn't dead yet; the earlier Iron Armor Spell had saved her life.

The Nundu stepped forward, habitually attempting to deliver a finishing blow.

This was Kael's prior instruction, to avoid leaving a blood debt, it was most fitting for Fantastic Beasts to deliver the final hit... which was why the Nundu braved the Fiendfyre to slay Gibbon earlier.

Yet before it could approach, Alecto vanished.

This scene left the Nundu slightly stunned, then its nose twitched, seemingly sniffing something, and it locked its gaze onto Dumbledore.

It crouched down low, the poison sacs on its neck swelling again.

Luckily, Kael acted swiftly, pulling out the box and forcibly stowing it away in time.

Good heavens, baring its fangs at Dumbledore, was it courting death?

He had just this one Nundu, precious as it was, he couldn't bear to lose it here.

"I never knew you brought along such a dangerous creature." Dumbledore looked at Kael, "The Nundu... in some respects, it's more dangerous than ten Death Eaters combined."
