Chapter 639 - Chapter 600: Seizing the Book

This story, how long will it take to tell, and in what manner will it end, even the Revealer is waiting for the answer.

He has already turned his book to the last page with text, attempting to glean information from the remaining scribbles. Loki's writing is as indecipherable as ever, just like his awkward personality, constantly erratic, sometimes the words even snake away.

This is not a metaphor; it truly is a snake. Loki turned the snake into text; when someone reads it, it bites, a venomous reminder that can kill instantly.

Do not pry into the story, do not pry into the future. When you witness the incomprehensible, such terrifying things are also gazing back at you.

Better to die early and carefree.

Loki once thought such things would be himself, but when he couldn't finish writing this book, he discovered the true horror.

He is also woven into the story, placed into other tales.

Comedy? Tragedy? Or drama series?

This revelation made Loki laugh, and he asked Black Crow to deliver his half-written book to the Revealer, waiting for someone to tell him the story's end.

The Revealer is striving for his master, but it's a riddle even Loki can't answer.

"A person stumped by himself, how interesting."

He murmured, turning his gaze to the scenery outside the window. The revealable story he had already finished telling, leaving only chaos. Therefore, he did not notice how his book, filled with incoherent scribbles, was quickly spreading, like ink merging in water, engulfing many future stories.

The future changed.

And then, suddenly, a figure appeared in his castle, materializing out of thin air, and almost the next moment, a flash of white appeared before him.

A silver gleaming treasure sword arced very smoothly, neatly slicing off his head, while the book fell to the ground.

"Who are you?"

The head rolled a good distance, its eyeless gaze wide with effort trying to discern the person attempting to pick up the book.

"Shirela of Sintrea, a Demon Hunter."

The white-haired young woman bent to pick up the thick book that felt reminiscent of monster lore seen in Ker Morhan, only written in English.

Isn't this a novel?

"I have actually never heard of your story, this can't be....."

The story Revealer hadn't yet died but felt a fog in his mind, confused why someone other than Loki found this place and obtained the story in such a manner.

"Stories about monsters? Not interested."

The silver sword swung again, slicing the head like cutting a watermelon into pieces.

Actually, at first, Slade suddenly found her, saying he discovered a peculiar undying creature she could practice on. At the time, Ciri, engrossed in TV shows, didn't believe him.

This world is different from her original world; she has been here for several years, aware this place lacks many monsters.

She has encountered vampires and werewolves, but they are few, in a city of millions, only a sparse handful, and no one posted bounties for them.

Geralt taught Ciri many things, including never taking a job without a bounty.

Family eaten by werewolves? Truly unfortunate... Don't plan to pay for the task? Then farewell.

However, Slade offered to build her a new car in exchange, as long as she retrieves a book and kills a monster, to which she happily agreed, deciding to take a look.

It was the first job she'd had in this world, though previously, to fend off boredom, she joined Geralt and dealt with many dragon species.

But after killing dozens of Ashen Dragon species in one day with Geralt, Ciri felt bored.

These dragons were less than Griffins from her original world; if you pulled out their spikes, they simply flopped wildly on the ground, harmless, more like pets acting spoiled.

Why were these large carnivorous dragons so prevalent in this small area? The dragons of this new continent outnumbered the rats of Novigrad; it was unreasonable.

Additionally, Geralt had changed significantly; he wasn't just gluttonous but enjoyed jumping from terrifying heights and even kept a cat?

The cat was most annoying, overly attentive to Geralt, helping him retrieve items, harvesting materials, serving meals, and tending to him meticulously.

Yet it ignored Ciri, as if she were invisible, running away with its tail high whenever she needed help.

For several days, Geralt hadn't found any Ashen Dragon Jade; his hunt continued, Ciri decided to let him enjoy the hunting pleasure...

Live the rest of his life with that cat, hmph.

Slade had handed her a painting while assigning the task; the scene depicted matched the current one precisely. She accurately teleported right before the Revealer, completing the task smoothly without even applying sword oil.

Initially, she thought the creature in the painting seemed odd, but didn't look like a monster because depicted was the Revealer reading a book—an indication of intellect.

But Slade assured her it was a monster, highly evil, and showed her how to proceed.

Therefore, when she decapitated the Revealer and saw the creature still speaking and thinking, Ciri confirmed it truly was a monster.

No normal creature can survive like that, not even the King of the Wild Hunt.

She gouged out the monster's eyes with a dagger; perhaps their ability to see blindly holds some value.

Brain and fingernails should be useless. Even if they can be made into a magic potion, she can't drink it. She directly threw the Revealer's head out of the question mark-shaped window.

The round hole beneath the question mark was just right to fit a head through, as if everything was prepared for this moment.

Outside the window was a vast whiteness, indicating some spatial issues here. Her arrival relied solely on talent, and others knowing of its existence was nothing short of a miracle.

After dealing with the corpse, she wandered casually around the castle. Apart from various storybooks, there was nothing else.

Not even food or water.

She picked up a few books randomly and flipped through them. The content was mostly the same, narrating a handsome young man named Loki playing pranks on his dull-witted, arrogant, reckless brother, Thor.

Reading a few segments was amusing, but reading too much led to aesthetic fatigue.

Ciri read quickly and had the least patience. She pursed her lips, touched the tip of her nose, and grabbed the book titled "Mysterious Journey," recalling Deathstroke's image as she returned to Slade's side.

A plane called Hell Border.

Earlier, as she lay in the lounge watching TV, she saw Slade sticking his head out from the teleportation gate, as if floating in midair, startling Ciri.

At this moment, three people were gathered around a fire at a canyon wall's depression, discussing something unknown.

Slade looked the same as before, and Monac was a warlock.

The only difficult aspect to accept was Gin; Slade's former trusted right-hand being a woman was something Ciri found somewhat awkward during these years of contact.

"Retrieved the book?"

"Yes, but that monster can't be killed. I could only have it temporarily headless."

"It's alright, as long as we got the book."

Su Ming gestured for her to sit by the fire. The Revealer was like an animated narrator, a comic panel's frame, such things aren't easily killed.

Death as a concept does not apply to it, being a fabricated outsider, it is arguably a level above the Observer because it can speak.

"By the way, my car..."

Ciri displayed an eager expression akin to a young girl desiring a gift, shyly fixing her gaze at her toes, knowing she shouldn't request rewards from Slade, yet longing for a new car.

Especially one with an engine, running on fuel, not pulled by herbivorous dragons or cats...

"That's easy, Gin, write a note to the factory manager." Su Ming promptly instructed Gin, who retrieved a notebook from his pocket to write swiftly.

"Makes me feel like I'm back on Earth, thinking about the backlog of work these past two days, I don't want to return." Gin remarked while signing the note.

Su Ming used the Godslayer to stir the sticks on the ground. He had retrieved them from Earth: "The previous plan is invalid, negotiating conditions with someone other than Odin jeopardizes reviving your sisters to share your burden, brace yourself."

"I understand, but it's better than leaving them in the Netherworld."

"That's good, now let me see what 'the God of Story' has assigned me."

Su Ming took the thick book from Ciri's hands, curious about the dictionary-sized tome dictating everyone's fate.

Upon seeing the start was set in Hawaii, 1925, he couldn't help but sigh. Although aware that the past was arranged, Kang and Loki are distinct matters.

Now comes the question: which Loki is this?

The answer is unknown, guessing which era's Loki it is, or even whether Loki is male or female now remains uncertain.

Firstly, disrupt the Revealer, seize the storybook, which reduces the number of people aware of this in the Cosmos, granting Su Ming more time.

As a story, it needs a medium, written in black and white to form into something tangible.

With the book snatched, everything became uncertain again.

The current plan was initially devised by Su Ming to tackle DC's Sleep Demon. His Great Book Library contains many future stories and incomplete poems.

Given the Sleep Demon has encountered major issues twice, Su Ming's countermeasure is absolutely necessary; not only him, Batman likely has a similar emergency plan.

Unexpectedly, this plan was used on Loki first - life's unpredictability is profound.

Now, whoever can unravel this story must be an outsider. If the entire story is a trap, only someone outside can free the trapped people.

Su Ming had a mental list as he rapidly scanned the book for comparison.

If a name appears in the book, ensure that person's past, present, and future trajectory remains unchanged to avoid butterfly effect causing greater havoc.

Individuals absent from the book are perfect candidates to sabotage Loki's plan, representing the author's unexpected variable.

Ciri represents an excellent choice, not just originating from Otherworld, her own story resembles a tangled mess, crisscrossing numerous timelines and worlds; a story Loki cannot extend.

With an abundance of past stories, but too few new ones, this character would proceed along original character momentum.

Regrettably, the little cousin was immediately excluded.

In the text, Loki used Deadpool's mark to denote this character, leading the red-and-black emblem with its sneaky eyes to appear utterly cheap.

Su Ming silently shook his head; this cheap labor couldn't be utilized this time.
