The match ended after a while. The overall result for the day was declared to be null and void since Naoya and Satoru had to jump in to protect the students from Rika's rampage.
Along with that, almost the entire field was destroyed as well. The fight got too heated at the end.
"So what are you planning to do now?" asked Naoya as he addressed the group of decision makers.
Yaga and Gakuganji stared at Naoya and Satoru with mild frustration. They wanted to address the issue of Rika Orimoto going out of control earlier and Yuta Okkotsu not being able to hold her back in the first place.
However, the two special grades that handled the situation in the first place disagreed with that claim.
"How else will the kid learn to control his power if he cannot even practice it. Aoi Todo is a highly skilled sorcerer, so a serious bout against him and other opponents of a similar level is something that Yuta Okkotsu needs to practice his control," said Naoya.
"Not to mention, no student other than the one who fought against Rika Orimoto is injured at all. Even Todo does not have fatal wounds, only minor cuts and scratches. Yuta is learning his control. He is improving; it's just that his opponent was highly skilled and strong, which forced Yuta and Rika to go a little bit overboard. Can't complain, though, he does not get to fight such high-level battles constantly, so he was caught a bit off guard," said Satoru.
Gakuganji and Yaga heard the bullshit that the two special grades were spouting and simply pointed towards the screens.
"Do you two see that? That damage to the battlefield. If a random passerby were to look at it, they would say that a f*cking war took place there. The majority of that damage is caused by Rika Orimoto," said Gakuganji.
Naoya and Satoru looked at the damaged field and got serious.
They kept silent for a while and thought about something deeply.
Satoru looked at the field and then towards Yaga and Gakuganji.
He wanted to say something, but stopped. He moved towards Naoya and whispered something in his ear.
Naoya gave a nod and whispered something back.
Satoru gave a nod.
Suddenly, Naoya's eyes widened.
"I got it!"
"What? What did you get it and what were you two whispering about?"
Yaga and Gakuganji asked Naoya.
"I understood why you think this is too much damage. You all are simply not strong."
Naoya replied with a smile.
Gakuganji and Yaga looked at Naoya with their eyes widened.
"Ah! I understand it now. True, these guys are not up to that level. No wonder they think this is too much. So much time has passed since they saw us fight, too. Must have lost their edge because of that,"
Satoru nodded sagely before he looked at Yaga and Gakuganji with pity.
"...What are you two getting at?" asked Gakuganji in a slightly cold tone.
"Huh? Why are you getting angry? I'm saying I understand why you think this is too much damage. Sure, it must seem excessive compared to the people you usually interact with. But think about it for a second. Yuta Okkotsu, just like me and Satoru, is not operating at your level."
Naoya stated.
Yaga and Gakuganji blinked. They thought about what the bastard just said and came to realise what he was trying to say.
"Hey, you two got the 'Aha' look on your faces. Good of you two to realise it so soon. Yuta Okkotsu and Rika Orimoto, similar to the two of us, are Special Grades. And a high-level fight against a special grade usually results in this sort of aftermath, if not worse. Try to remember how the goodwill events were during our time."
Satoru broke it down for the two principals.
Yaga and Gakuganji tried to remember the goodwill event when Naoya and Satoru used to participate.
Gakuganji's stomach and heart suddenly started hurting from the memories alone. He had spent years trying to forget those stress-inducing events, yet the white-haired bastard had to reopen those wounds.
"This much is not even half as bad as when we used to fight. I don't know why you two are complaining so much. If a Special Grade status is assigned to two of them, then treat them like that as well. Think on the bright side, despite being the only Special Grades on the field with no one present to stop them, they could only cause this much trouble. It's very controlled in my opinion."
Naoya said calmly.
"Give the kid a chance. He's new to all this and trying to learn his way around things. Honestly, he's already pretty damn strong for someone who hasn't even been involved with jujutsu for a full year," added Satoru.
Gakuganji and Yaga remained silent.
The two idiots actually had a point.
Compared to genuine Special Grade fights, the amount of destruction today really wasn't all that absurd. And Yuta's growth speed was terrifying as well.
If the boy continued progressing like this while improving his control, the jujutsu world would gain another reliable Special Grade asset.
And after losing Suguru Geto, that was something they desperately needed.
"I know you two are stressed because the higher-ups keep breathing down your necks about Yuta, but try to fulfil your actual roles. Right now, while you're in Jujutsu High, you're teachers first and sorcerers second. If you're teachers, then guide the students instead of constantly nitpicking them because some old geezers with sticks shoved twice their height up their asses told you to. I'm not saying the higher-ups don't do an acceptable job keeping things running, but even you have to admit they're far too self-absorbed to have this much control over everything in the jujutsu world. They're always terrified of things they can't control," said Naoya.
Yaga and Gakuganji decided not to make any comments. The Special Grades from the great clans might have many immunities, but they were an exception to that.
"Yuta and Rika do possess a threat, but it is our job as teachers to guide and make sure that things don't go in that direction."
Naoya said with a smile.
"Just wait and watch. I'm here to monitor the situation most of the time anyway. If things go south, I'll handle it," declared Satoru confidently.
"What about when you are not nearby?" asked Gakuganji.
"Run while screaming, 'Brave, handsome, reliable Satoru Gojo-sama! Please save my life!' at maximum volume," replied Satoru with a completely serious expression.
Gakuganji's fist clenched violently. If he could, he'd strangle the blindfolded idiot right there.
Unfortunately, the blindfolded idiot was one of the strongest sorcerers alive.
"Anyway, let's drop the issue with Yuta Okkotsu. We need to deal with how we move forward with the Goodwill event."
Naoya changed the topic and brought them back to the main issue. He didn't want to be in the middle of an argument on something pointless.
"Today's group event will officially be declared null and void. No changes there. Only the Day 2 matches will count now," said Yaga.
"What will be the format of the battle?" asked Naoya.
"Pair ups. Lucky draw for picking up opponents. A win gives +1 point, a draw is 0, and a loss is -1. The school with the most points win the whole thing."
Yaga explained.
Naoya and Satoru looked at the principals.
It was clearly designed to stop one monster student from sweeping the entire opposing side. More importantly, it limited Yuta's fights as well, reducing the chances of Rika going berserk again.
Naoya thought for a while. The whole thing depends on matchups, but in this format, Tokyo had an advantage over Kyoto.
For better or worse, the Kyoto group was stronger in a team setting. While Tokyo had more individually strong sorcerers.
"Well, if it's decided, then I will go and inform my students."
Naoya gave a nod to the students and shook Satoru's hand before walking out of the room.
"You free tonight?" asked Satoru.
"Will be going back home," replied Naoya.
Satoru nodded and left it at that.
-----
After arriving in the Kyoto waiting area, Naoya told the students about the draw in the first round and that the 2nd day events would decide the overall winnings.
After explaining the rules to them, Naoya left the Kyoto Jujutsu High School.
Maki and Mai stayed behind with the rest of the students and didn't follow Naoya back home.
They were high school students, and events like this were meant to be enjoyed with friends.
After arriving at the Tokyo Zenin estate, Naoya was welcomed by the rows of servants standing there to greet him.
"Welcome back, Naoya-sama. We have prepared the bath for you, and dinner will be ready shortly, too."
One of the servants told Naoya.
Naoya nodded and moved towards his room.
"How are things at the clan these days? Anyone being a jerk and messing up?" asked Naoya.
The servants kept quiet. It was not their place to say anything on this matter.
Naoya eyed them. That answer was enough for him.
Well, what can he say? If anything, the Zenin clan was consistent.
After freshening up, Naoya sat down to have dinner.
As he sat down, the sliding door opened.
"Hm? Father? Hello~ Sit. Have dinner."
Naobito looked at his son, who had chopsticks in his hand and gave a nod with a stern look and took a seat as well.
"Prepare his dinner too. No sake," ordered Naoya.
"Oi! What do you mean, no sake!" snapped Naobito.
Naoya paid no heed to Naobito's yelling. He just smiled at his old man.
"No. Sake," repeated Naoya.
"Grr, how can you decide to strip my only way of destressing?"
"Just like this."
Naoya did a mock shrug and looked straight at Naobito.
"You meddlesome brat!"
"Should we go to a hospital and have the doctor do a check-up on you...your liver specially?" asked Naoya.
"Hmph! What do those quacks know about how jujutsu sorcerers' bodies work?!"
"I know, no different in the medical department unless you know RCT! On that note, are you practising your RCT? Where is your blood report and other tests that I asked you to undergo?!"
Hearing his questions, Naobito looked away like a child whose parents just asked for his report card.
"...Where are your reports?" asked Naoya in a cold tone.
"Is that how you talk to your father?!"
"I do when the old man is acting like a child! You did not go to the doctor, did you?" asked Naoya.
Naobito flinched.
Naoya immediately caught onto the old man.
He turned to the servants.
"Don't give him to eat or drink anything in the morning. He will be going to the doctor tomorrow, no tea, no sake, nothing. Understood?"
"Yes, Naoya-sama."
The servants replied and looked at Naobito, the acting clan head, who was being treated like a child. They had seen such things before, but they were always surprised to see the roles change between the parent and child.
"You-"
"Do you want me to ban alcohol altogether for the entire Zenin clan?"
Naobito flinched and sat back.
The finances of the Zenin clan needed approval from Naoya, who was the former clan head. He could actually stop the alcohol supply if he wanted.
For now, Naobito decided not to argue with his nagging son.
Shortly after that, the table was set up for Naobito as well.
Naoya and Naobito gave their thanks and started eating.
"Oh, right, since you are here today, make sure to be present for the clan meeting."
"Sure, has someone been causing issues in the clan?"
"The usual troublemakers, nothing serious. They have too much free time and energy for their own good."
"Send them on a few missions if they have too much energy. Anything new?"
"Hmm, well, Chojuro rose to Hei rank 3 after challenging and defeating Juinchi and Ogi."
"Not surprisingly, the old man and Mai were scheming a lot while training and working on their techniques. The two must be pissed as hell, though."
"More than you can guess, it's getting annoying how the two are always acting angry."
"Haha. I kinda want to see that too...do you think they'll fight Chojuro-san again if I provoke them a little?" asked Naoya.
"Their egos are massive. Taunt them a bit and they'll bite immediately," replied Naobito.
The father and son thought about it for a second before breaking into laughter.
The room was harmonious as their happy voices filled it, something that wasn't very common on the Zenin estate.
"Enough about the clan, anything new with you?" asked Naobito.
The servants had walked out of the room to give the father and son some privacy, making Naobito a bit more relaxed and crass.
Naobito lifted his rice bowl and put some of the rice in his mouth.
"Hmm...I guess there is something that I should tell you," muttered Naoya.
"Hmm..."
Naobito didn't think much and continued to chew his food.
"Well, I got engaged,"
*Cough**Cough*
The rice immediately got lodged in Naobito's throat.
He started smacking his chest violently while choking.
"Oi! Chew properly!" scolded Naoya while handing him water.
Naobito snatched the glass away and gulped it down immediately.
He then glared at Naoya with eyes screaming, 'THIS IS YOUR FAULT!!!'
Naoya promptly ignored the accusation.
"You should chew at least thirty times, Father. Choking is dangerous."
"THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE HERE YOU DUMB BRAT!!!!"
Naobito roared at full volume.
He immediately stood up and grabbed Naoya by the shoulders.
"It's not that Gojo brat, right?!"
His tone carried genuine panic.
Naoya stared at his father blankly.
'How the hell did you reach that conclusion?!' thought Naoya.
