# Chapter 176: Cyborg Transformation
In the sky, the wings of Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon Emperor blazed, and the dragon breath it spewed suddenly expanded!
"What an astonishing attack!" the Female Commentator exclaimed. "If this attack goes through, Sergey Volkov will be defeated instantly!"
"Block it," the Hook-nosed Man inside Security's headquarters said indifferently, playing out an escape on the chessboard beside him by sacrificing a piece.
"At this moment, I activate my Trap Card, Earthbound Genesis! I destroy all 'Earthbound' monsters on my field. Both players gain Life Points equal to half the total ATK of the monsters destroyed by this effect! Also, any battle damage I take this turn is halved!"
Dark red markings flared from Sergey Volkov's set card, devouring the two monsters and transforming into a blue light that surged into both players.

Kaito LP: 1200 → 3850
"Surviving through self-destruction?" Kaito gritted his teeth. "Go, Galaxy-Eyes! Attack!"
With no monsters left to block, the brilliant dragon breath from Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon Emperor submerged Sergey Volkov. Strangely, faced with the surging torrent of light, Sergey actually tilted his head back and spread his arms, allowing the terrifying energy to wash over his body.

The thick smoke from the dragon breath enveloped this section of the racetrack. But soon, Sergey Volkov, driving his monstrous D-Wheel, sped out from the smoke with a wild laugh.
"Pain! So much pain!" Covered in injuries, Sergey licked the fresh blood that flowed from his temple to the corner of his mouth, his eyes filled with madness. He cried out, a hint of excitement audible in his tone.
"I set one card and end my turn." Kaito watched the rampaging Sergey Volkov and frowned. "Did this guy's cybernetic modifications fry his brain?"
"At this instant, the effect of Earthbound Servant Geo Gryphon in my Graveyard activates! During the End Phase of the turn this card was destroyed, all monsters on the opponent's field are destroyed! Furthermore, for each monster destroyed, you take 800 points of effect damage!"
Kaito was startled for a moment. Then he saw the phantom of a black bird, wreathed in yellow markings, fly out from Sergey Volkov's Duel Disk. It crashed into Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon Emperor in the sky, then dissolved into a black mist that enveloped the dragon.
Within the black mist, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon Emperor let out a mournful cry before dissipating into specks of light.
"What a stunning reversal," the Female Commentator said in surprise at the sight. "With this, Kaito will have to start the next turn with an empty field! However, Kaito still has 3850 Life Points, so he should be fine, right?"
"No matter how high your Life Points are, they're meaningless against the special strategy I've prepared," the Hook-nosed Man in Security said, taking a small sip of wine before slowly moving a chess piece.
"My turn! I draw!" Sergey Volkov drew a card with a wild laugh.
"I activate the Field Spell, Geobound!"
As the Field Spell activated, the guardrails on both sides of the track were instantly engulfed in eerie blue flames.
Then, Sergey reached out and snatched an Action Card that had fallen onto the track before twisting the throttle again, lunging for a second one.
"Sergey Volkov, I must remind you," the Female Commentator called out, "you can only hold one Action Card in your hand."
Sergey paid no heed to her kind reminder. He grabbed the second Action Card, which promptly vanished into nothingness in his hand.
"The effect of my Field Spell, Geobound! If I already have an Action Card in my hand when I would add another, that card is banished, and you take 300 effect damage!"
From the surrounding barrier of eerie blue flames, a fireball suddenly formed and struck Kaito.
Kaito LP: 3850 → 3550
"What kind of effect is this?" Kaito gritted his teeth, looking at the surrounding flames. This effect was clearly just made up on the spot!
*Whatever. It's not like I expected any sort of moral integrity from you Academy lackeys anyway,* Kaito thought, after taking the 300 damage, as he pondered a way to break through the situation.
*Wait, this is a Field Spell, right? That means both players can use its effect.* Kaito instantly realized the flaw in this strategy. He twisted the throttle, and the D-Wheel's engine, modified by Yūga Hōzumi to withstand Accel Synchro, was pushed to its absolute limit. The Galaxy-Eyes-themed D-Wheel shot forward like a streak of light, instantly surpassing Sergey Volkov and rushing toward an Action Card up ahead.
"That's right! Since both players can use the Field Spell's effect, is this duel going to turn into a battle of speed?" The Female Commentator finally realized Kaito's plan as he also picked up an Action Card and raced toward a second one.
"He has some quick wit, but in the face of overwhelming power, it's trivial," the Hook-nosed Man within Security said with a smile, pressing a button beside him.
Just as Kaito was about to grab the second Action Card, Sergey Volkov let out a cry of pain from behind him.
Kaito looked back, only to see Sergey's D-Wheel begin to transform. The machinery beneath the cockpit devoured Sergey, who was still inside, and the entire D-Wheel morphed into a humanoid form. Its front wheel lifted high and split in two, becoming mechanical arms, leaving only the single rear wheel to drive it forward.
A moment later, the head of the monstrous humanoid machine suddenly opened, revealing Sergey Volkov, with pipes and tubes protruding from his body, laughing maniacally.
The mechanical arms repeatedly smashed toward Kaito's D-Wheel ahead. While frantically dodging, Kaito was overtaken by Sergey.
But Sergey, still laughing wildly, continued to destroy everything around him. In the stadium's audience stands, most people were terrified into silence by the horrifying sight. Only the few rowdy men who had been restless from the start were still cheering incessantly.
"You're breaking the rules, Sergey Volkov!" the Female Commentator shouted, but the maddened Sergey turned a deaf ear to her words.
Before long, Sergey picked up another Action Card scattered on the racetrack. "I activate the effect of my Field Spell, Geobound! I banish this Action Card to inflict 300 effect damage to you!"
"At this instant, I activate the effect of Photon Kuriboh in my hand! By sending this card to the Graveyard and paying 2000 Life Points, all damage I take this turn becomes 0!"
Kaito LP: 3550 → 1550
Dodging Sergey's physical attacks, Kaito looked somewhat battered as he reluctantly activated the last life-saving measure in his hand.
A cute blue creature flashed in front of Kaito, transforming into a solid shield of light that blocked the fireball's impact.
"How long can you keep clinging to life like this?" the Hook-nosed Man in Security chuckled, gently moving a chess piece. "Fine. I'll let you die on your own turn."
"I'll end my turn!" Sergey declared.
