# Chapter 215: An Xyz Summon with a Single Monster
"I activate the Continuous Spell, Zoodiac Barrage!"
"I'll target one face-up card on the field to destroy, then Special Summon one 'Zoodiac' monster from the Deck."
"I destroy Zoodiac Barrage itself to Special Summon Zoodiac Thoroughblade from my Deck!"
The Continuous Spell in front of Yūga Hōzumi suddenly exploded, transforming into a rune inscribed with the character for "Horse." A moment later, the rune became a summoning circle, from which emerged a beast-warrior wielding a long sword.

"When Zoodiac Thoroughblade is successfully Special Summoned, its effect activates! I send one 'Zoodiac' monster from my hand to the Graveyard to draw one card. I'll send Zoodiac Ramram from my hand to the Graveyard! I draw!"

As Yūga Hōzumi's words fell, the other three people present stared at him in shock.
"An Xyz Summon with just one monster?"
"With the power of the talismans, guide your companion to descend! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Zoodiac Chakanine!"
The beast-warrior holding the long sword let out a low cry. The "Horse" symbol on its chest flashed, and a profound magic circle rose. A rune inscribed with the character for "Dog" formed within it, and a beast-eared girl holding a large iron ring descended.
"Once per turn, a Zoodiac Xyz Monster can be Xyz Summoned by using one Zoodiac monster on the field as the entire material! Its ATK and DEF also become the combined total of the 'Zoodiac' monsters attached to it as material!"

"Zoodiac Chakanine's effect activates! Once per turn, by detaching one Xyz Material from this card, I can target one 'Zoodiac' monster in my Graveyard and Special Summon it. The monster Special Summoned by this effect has its effects negated this turn, and it cannot be used as material for an Xyz Summon."

The earthy-yellow orb of light circling the beast-eared girl flashed, pouring into the ring in her hand and generating a rune inscribed with the character for "Ram."
"Revive! Zoodiac Ramram!"
The horned beast-warrior holding a shield leaped out from Chakanine's ring, taking a defensive position in front of Yūga Hōzumi.

"Next! I overlay the single Zoodiac Chakanine!"
"With the power of the talismans, guide your companion's descent! Xyz Summon! Descend! Zoodiac Drident!"
Beneath Zoodiac Chakanine's feet, a profound rune circle rose again. The "Dog" rune flashed and transformed into the character for "Dragon." A moment later, a female beast-warrior wielding a gigantic spear, a dragon's tail trailing behind her, descended from within the magic circle.

"Once per turn, by detaching one Xyz Material from this card, I can target one face-up card on the field and destroy it!"

"When Zoodiac Ramram is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, its effect activates! I Special Summon one 'Zoodiac' monster from the Graveyard!"
"Revive! Zoodiac Chakanine!"
"I overlay the single Zoodiac Drident!"
This time, the talisman that appeared was for the "Tiger."
"Appear! Zoodiac Tigermortar!"

"He summoned three Xyz Monsters with just one card?" Serena was stunned after watching Yūga Hōzumi's performance.
"They're just three monsters with no materials and zero attack and defense points," one of his opponents mockingly interjected.
"Is that so?" Yūga Hōzumi smiled. "But don't forget about a card that everyone in our dimension loves!"
"I activate the Spell Card, Xyz Treasure! I draw one card for every Xyz Monster on the field! I have three Xyz Monsters on my field, so I can draw three cards!"
After drawing three cards, Yūga Hōzumi continued his combo. "Since I control both a 'Gagaga' and a 'Dododo' monster, the effect of Dododo Banchou - Gagagacoat in my hand activates! This card can be Special Summoned!"
"I overlay two Level 4 monsters! Xyz Summon! Descend, warrior of hope! Number 39: Utopia!"
"I activate Rank-Up-Magic Zexal Force! I target one Xyz Monster I control and Special Summon one 'Utopia' or 'Zexal Weapon' monster from my Extra Deck that is one Rank higher, by overlaying it on top of the target!"
"Warrior of hope, endowed with the power of Chaos, descend in the armored form of the King of Beasts, born from our bonds! Rank-Up Xyz Change! Come forth, Rank 5! ZW - Leo Arms!"
From the golden vortex that appeared beneath Utopia's feet, a gold and red lion leaped out, transforming into armor and equipping itself to Utopia.

"I activate the effect of ZW - Leo Arms! Once per turn, I can attach it to a 'Utopia' monster from my hand or field. The monster equipped with this card gains 3000 ATK!"

"Next, I activate the effect of Zoodiac Whiptail in my hand! I target one Beast-Warrior Xyz Monster I control and attach this card to it as Xyz Material. I'll attach it to my Zoodiac Drident."

Having set up his board, Yūga Hōzumi nodded with great satisfaction. But then he glanced at the Zoodiac Chakanine and Tigermortar on his field, both without any Xyz materials, and a look of regret crossed his face.
*It's a shame this damned system didn't give me the True King combo pieces, otherwise I could have summoned a True King of All Calamities right now,* Yūga Hōzumi thought to himself.
"My turn! I draw!" As Yūga Hōzumi was lost in thought, his opponent made a move.
"I activate the Field Spell, Union Hangar!"
"When this card is activated, its effect resolves! I'll add one LIGHT Machine-Type Union monster from my Deck to my hand!"
"At this moment, I activate Zoodiac Drident's quick effect! Once per turn, by detaching one Xyz Material, I can target one face-up card on the field and destroy it!"
