Hey everyone,
So... I'm at a crossroads with Gingka and honestly can't decide which direction to take him. I need your help.
Here's the situation:
Gingka just got absolutely demolished by Ryuga. We're talking complete crushing defeat and watching Kai vs Ryuga made it worse, his confidence is destroyed, and he's desperately searching for power at Mt. Hagane. The legendary scroll he just found? Yeah, his "heart stops then breaks" when he reads it.
The guy is broken. Physically, mentally, emotionally—he's at rock bottom.
And that got me thinking...
Option 1: Corrupt Him
What if Gingka's desperation leads him down a darker path? Not full villain arc, but what if witnessing Kai's power makes him wonder if maybe the "right way" isn't enough? What if he starts experimenting with develop his own version of Dark Resonance? What if his journey becomes about finding the line between "using darkness" and "being consumed by it"?
This would be a major departure from canon. Gingka as we know him is the embodiment of friendship and light. But this version has been traumatized. He watched Kai nearly match Ryuga using darkness. He lost to Ryuga badly. Maybe he starts thinking "if I can't beat them with light, I need to fight fire with fire."
Option 2: Keep Him Canon-Accurate
Stick closer to the source material. Gingka struggles, doubts himself, but ultimately finds his answer through his bonds with friends, his father's legacy, and pure-hearted determination. He develops Galaxy Pegasus (or whatever evolution) through the "correct" path—no shortcuts, no darkness, just hard work and friendship power-ups.
This keeps the classic light vs. dark dynamic intact. Kai represents the dark path (acceptance, evolution, power through sacrifice). Gingka represents the light path (bonds, hope, power through connection). Clear philosophical opposition.
Here's what I'm wrestling with:
- Corrupting Gingka would make the story more unique and unpredictable
- But it might betray what makes him Gingka as a character
- Keeping him canon feels safer but might make his journey less interesting compared to Kai's
- But the contrast between their paths could be more powerful if they stay opposed
So I'm asking you:
Should I corrupt Gingka, or keep him on the light path?
Vote below and please drop a comment explaining your reasoning. I genuinely want to hear your thoughts:
- What would make for a better story?
- What would feel more satisfying character-wise?
- What would you actually want to read?
And hey, if you've got a third option I haven't considered, I'm all ears. Seriously—suggest whatever comes to mind. Maybe there's a middle ground I'm not seeing, or a completely different direction that would work better.
This is your story as much as it's mine. Your feedback has shaped this fic from the beginning, and this feels like too big a decision to make in a vacuum.
Comments are open. Let me know what you think.
Thanks for reading this far. Whatever direction we go, I promise to make it worth your time.
