Tony's trash-talking attribute had kicked in again. He was relentless with his words, always insulting first, whether he'd win or not.
Steve, on the other hand, wasn't nearly as verbally abusive or annoying. He watched silently, thinking about how he could get Bucky to safety.
The two charged almost simultaneously, clashing once more in battle.
Meanwhile, Jarvis controlled eleven Iron Man Armors, taking on a hundred men at once. The S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers had long since fled.
These hundred men were brainwashed HYDRA soldiers, programmed to follow their leader's orders without question.
Having the Iron Man Armors engage in close combat to handle them was clearly a miscalculation on Jarvis's part.
As an AI, he knew it was extremely inefficient. He didn't understand why Tony insisted on fighting Steve that way; human strategies were beyond his logic.
Under Jarvis's control, the Iron Man Armors fired dozens of energy beams from their palms, sweeping left and right.
In an instant, the entire area became a chaotic storm of destruction.
Everything in their path—plants, trees, buildings—was obliterated.
Over a dozen unlucky HYDRA agents who couldn't dodge in time were eliminated in a single round.
Efficiency-wise, this was far better than close combat.
The remaining HYDRA soldiers weren't about to wait passively for death.
They drew energy rifles—far stronger than those from Red Skull's era and the only advanced weapons S.H.I.E.L.D. had produced using the Tesseract's energy.
Though these weapons were slower to charge and less accurate than conventional firearms, their raw power was immense, perfect for countering Iron Man Armor.
Pierce ordered everyone to fire from their hidden positions. Precision didn't matter—numbers would ensure hits.
The next moment, more than eighty energy beams shot across the battlefield, dazzling onlookers.
This was modern warfare—or maybe something out of a sci-fi movie.
The sheer spectacle was mind-boggling. White smoke rose from scorched air as lasers danced wildly in the sky.
Meanwhile, the eleven Iron Man Armors performed an almost dreamlike aerial ballet, dodging beam after beam.
Each maneuver was like walking on the edge of a knife—thrilling and terrifying to watch.
But even Jarvis, with his formidable computing power, couldn't fully predict human behavior.
One oversight was enough: two Iron Man Armors got hit, sparking regretful cries from the crowd.
"F*ck! What a waste!"
Nick Fury and Pierce, observing from afar, had a different reaction. They punched the air in triumph.
"You're arrogant, but we can still take you down!"
The energy beam rifles had finally given them a fighting chance. Tony, still dueling Steve, cursed under his breath. "F*ck you!"
Each lost armor was eight million dollars down the drain—two meant sixteen million wasted in a single instant.
After another clash, Tony disengaged, flying about ten meters away and looking down at Steve with a more serious expression.
This S.H.I.E.L.D. had some tricks up its sleeve, and they were ruthless.
HYDRA's full-scale attack had revealed all their positions. Jarvis dodged the first volley and used radar to pinpoint every enemy during the reload interval.
[Scanning initiated. Scan complete.]
[Positions confirmed. Indiscriminate attack!]
Using infrared, Jarvis located every HYDRA position.
The Iron Man Armors glided into attack formation, launching rows of miniature missiles from their shoulders.
Explosions erupted below with deafening force.
Flames shot skyward as HYDRA agents were torn apart. Some were blown into multiple pieces; others survived partially.
The rats in the shadows were cleared out, leaving only Steve and Bucky on the periphery.
Steve's heart sank to the Mariana Trench.
