Quinn wanted to know what was going on. The idea a dalki meant no harm was strange on so many levels. Vorden said he didn't know what was going on. Minx said the tree would attack if he was hostile. Quinn was quite confused at that, but he found her quite confusing so often. It felt like a normal state.
Logan was wishing the fight had gone on a bit longer to judge the strength of Quinn against a two-spike. Quinn hated it but the dalki seemed to listen to Vorden and seemed like a good guy so far. The rest of his friends then came closer.
As Logan got closer, he could see green blood where Quinn had hit him with a blood swipe. Logan suddenly realized this could be his fault. When he got blood from Vorden to create the green solution, the system sent data to another lab. They decided to move inside and talk. Minx took this opportunity to bring in the food she harvested as well. Layla realized they needed a name for him. He chose Borden.
Quinn asked Timmy if he had ever seen or heard of dalki before. Timmy looked at Borden and replied in the negative. He asked if it was a kind of beast. Quinn was confused because Fex said the settlement he thought was dalki was actually vampire, but here was a vampire who never heard of dalki. Quinn was now wondering where the dalki came from.
They went back to the dining room, which was good. Minx should be able to hear while she put food away since the room was so large there was an echo. Timmy asked where Edward was, so Peter filled him in.
Logan started asking questions of Borden. Borden thought he and Vorden were the same, Vorden was just more advanced and didn't have his spikes and scales out. Borden described waking up in a glass tube then being yanked out by a metal claw. He explained everything he remembered, which was precisely the description of the lab they had been in with the trial rooms. The dalki had gone through all six rooms. Talking was hard at first but getting easier. Logan was planning to run tests to figure out if he created the dalki.
Quinn then stated everyone should continue their training. Quinn and Peter were heading to the reception area. Vorden, Borden and Logan went to the lab. Quinn handed Logan a blood crystal before they parted. Cia and Layla approached Quinn before they left the dining room. Cia asked to have her memories returned and to be turned into a vampire as well.
Quinn heard her out and told her he'd let her know by the end of the day. Her losing her ability would not help in the fight to save Fex. Timmy spent his time studying his ability book. He was undecided if he would join the fight. Quinn had told him he had done enough at school and giving them directions, so he didn't need to help in the fight.
Once all the food was harvested, Minx withered everything but the trees. There was enough food for two weeks especially with having the food pills. The others had not complained about them, but she wanted real food not something artificial. And there was food to share. So, she did.
She cooked for the humans, leaving Layla and Cia's food on the table covered with a warmer lid. She carried all 4 plates on a tray, and they ate while the boys talked and Logan worked. She took the dishes back to the kitchen and washed them. She went upstairs to tell the girls dinner was ready then went outside to make a hunting corral for Caser. She included four pens to store the beasts in until Caser had killed the one. The corral was about 6 feet high in case something that could jump was brought.
Logan had tested the green blood for Vorden and Borden's blood and found them an exact match. Logan had created the dalki. A lot of theories were running through his head. Were the dalki created by vampires, specifically Vincent or Richard Eno?
Vorden and Borden were busy talking about Vorden's past, specifically school at the moment, so Logan moved on to the blood pills. Borden asked about Vorden's past, his family and everything. Vorden told him it was complicated and didn't want to talk about it.
At this time, everyone was thinking about sleep and Minx headed back into the castle. She looked over her work in the garden before closing the door behind her. She was pleased. Tomorrow, she intended to practice using the tree with Caser and her bag on her back. She normally just slid the bag off her shoulders but her time in those tunnels told her that was not always possible.
Quinn stopped to talk to the girls who were sharing a room. He said he'd turn Cia but after rescuing Fex. They had a deal on her memory as well. If he found a way to return it to her, he would.
Everyone had chosen rooms on the third floor, which was the top floor. Quinn's room was near the throne room, and the lab was near that. It was all conveniently situated. Minx was in the room before Vorden. She had fed Caser and was laying in bed already.
It had been a long day. Her mind was reeling over all the events that had happened. How close she had come to losing Sil today due to an egotistical maniac. She couldn't even believe it was the same day as it had been so busy. It's why she insisted on them getting married now. She was afraid any day now could be their last.
She could hear Vorden instruct Borden there were rooms down the hall and to get a good night's sleep. Then the door opened. He then closed the door behind himself, and she heard a click as it was locked. She still had the light crystal activated so he could see pretty well.
He came to her and said Sil wanted to see her, so they switched.
"Did you have a good day? I can't believe we're actually married!" he said in his boyish way.
Minx giggled, "I'm exhausted, honestly. Between the worry over that battle at the school, growing all that food, a dalki showing up that looks like you… Can I sleep in your arms tonight?"
He nodded and agreed. Soon they were cuddling and she was fast asleep. Sil stayed awake half the night watching her until sleep overtook him.
