Chapter 253 - Dalki Ship

Just as they were getting ready to take off, Lana was directed to the ship instead. There were no beasts in the area small enough to make sure there were no dalki alive on it. It now fell to her and Sil.

"Detour," she said as she climbed up.

"How long does it rain here?"

Lana chuckled offering her hand to her husband, "this time, as long as this beautiful girl wills it. The rain activates certain beasts. There will be dalki fertilizer shortly after it stops."

Sil got in position right behind her, "you are too relaxed about all this. What kind of forces do you have?"

Elevating her voice over the sound of the storm and flapping wings, "remember that demon-tier? Well… It wasn't the only one. There would be even more but the beast population has been decimated."

Sil leaned into her ear but still had to elevate his voice, "I don't want you here. That means you aren't safe."

Lana laughed, "as long as the people listen to me, the beasts will, too. There is no safer place, My Love." They were going in for a landing now, the broken dalki ship growing before their eyes as they got close.

The wyvern landed on top of the ship and the couple slid off, Sil going first to help her down.

He sighed as he put her hand in his, "we don't spend enough time together."

Lana chuckled, "you know where I live. Looks like we can get in here"

"I'm going first, I'll guide you down"

Lana sighed but capitulated.

He reached up to guide her down, "what was the sigh for?" as he grabbed her had once more.

She shrugged, "I'm used to being alone. No one guides me anywhere. I do what I want, when I want and how."

Sill looked at her sharply, "they aren't taking care of you?"

Lana rolled her eyes, "they, who? It's not their job. I do permit minor allowances like when my brother or Shalt get it through my head that I'm pushing myself and near collapse. I'm not their wife or child. I'm your wife. I hear something up ahead, to the right." She whispered that last part.

Sil started to tug her arm behind him and she pulled her hand away rather forcefully to break his grip. She peeked around the corner then started chuckling. "Someone came in for a snack."

Lana looked back at her husband who was not sharing in the joy of the moment.

"How can I protect you if you don't listen to me?"

"How can we work together if you don't watch my cues?"

He picked her up and put her against the wall, wrapping her leg around his waist, "I can't lose you! You know this! What is all this? I need to know you are safe!"

"I just killed 3 3-spike dalki and have an army consisting of every beast on this planet. How am I not safe?"

"This whole situation is strange. How do you know you can trust these beasts?"

"I would think it's obvious. You never did understand my ability and it looks like you haven't put much more thought into it. I can't force understanding in you. We need to finish exploring this ship. My boobs are starting to hurt which means Angelina is going to be hungry soon."

Sil sighed, "we'll talk about this more later."

They took an hour, relying on her ears for movement and heartbeats and her nose for blood. All dalki they found were dead. They found a room full of crystals. Sil used his control of metal to lift the tubes. The crystals all slid into Lana's dimensional bracelet which she promptly gave to him.

She explained she thought the bracelet prevented the time-stop ability when the Bree man used it. On further reflection, she had some kind of innate resistance. It was her touching her friends that unfroze them, not putting the bracelet on them. She discovered a word on it and when she thought the word, it opened a storage place. He checked it out and found all the things she put in there, including energy bars.

"There is no time in there. Those bars are as fresh as when I made them."

Sil chuckled, "so, this is your new hiding spot!"

Once done, they quickly returned to the wyvern. Her chest was in a lot of pain and she allowed Sil to help her. He held her tight as a worried wyvern flew low and fast to the shelter. She landed gently as Sil carried her off. He somehow remembered to thank the wyvern for her help in their combat today.

She nodded to him and the storm stopped as she took off.

Lana lifted her head for maximum magnification of her voice, "End Operation Defend Utopia."

A gentle breeze began flowing through the branches of the trees in the shelter as they were permitted to relax. Some heard the rustling and poked their heads out. There were the people assigned to listen for trouble and defend if needed.

"You there?" Sil called out, eying a person he recognized but his brain malfunctioned on recalling a name.

"Sil, it's me, Erlen. Sorry again about what happened in school. What happened to Lana?"

"She needs the baby. I need you to run below and tell them everything is fine now. Fiza and Shalt need to bring the babies back home."

"Got it!" and Erlen took off running.

Sil carried her straight to their home, to their bathroom at her insistence.

"This is going to be a little yucky…."

She took off one of the elastic tubes her milk drained into, very gently to prevent as much spillage as possible. Sil already knew what to do, handing her a clean, empty one and putting a lid on the full one. He ran that one to the fridge and returned just as she got the other off. Sil repeated the process. He came back to see her expressing some milk into the new bags to reduce the pressure until the baby arrived. She nodded to a cloth and Sil immediately started cleaning the milk she spilled on herself.

"All clean. Let's move you to bed. You should rest. I'll have the traveler's center prepare us some food after they get back."

Lana sighed and smiled, "thank you. I really do love you."

He leaned in and kissed her, "I love you too."

Fiza walked in with a crying baby who was instantly quiet the minute she got some food.
