Chapter 592: The First Interview as World's Richest (1)

The Power of Wealth

Overnight, Luke seemed like a changed person. Before, he was merely a prodigious youth and a popular figure. Now, the title of World's Richest Person brought not only a change in status but also immense influence.

The global system is driven by money. The person with the most wealth naturally becomes a coveted target for public attention. The principle holds true: the world crowds in for gain, and the world scatters for gain.

Every word Luke spoke now would be considered golden advice. A casual comment could shift the stock market or even affect the development of an entire industry.

This was the power of the world's richest person!

In Shanghai, China.

Qin Ya sat in front of her computer, diligently browsing every piece of news about ShowMe. She missed nothing, and if she found anything related to Luke, she would screenshot and copy it into a folder.

Seeing her excited demeanor, Chu Yi couldn't help but shake his head.

"You look exactly like a crazed fan."

"What do you know? That's Luke Shaw! The 21-year-old World's Richest Person."

"What does the world's richest person have to do with you?" Chu Yi took out a workbook and tossed it onto the table. "Do the exercises in here. Try to raise your math score to 130 on the opening exam."

Qin Ya pouted in frustration. Remembering something, she suddenly asked conspiratorially,

"Hey! I heard a girl from your school is Luke Shaw's mystery girlfriend. Is that true?"

"Of course not."

"Liar! I saw their photo online. That girl is so beautiful."

"Don't believe what you read online. It's all fake."

Qin Ya snorted. "You talk as if you know all the inside stories."

"I actually do know some inside information," Chu Yi said casually. "The girl you're talking about is called Qu Youran. She wasn't even casual friends with Luke Shaw, let alone his girlfriend."

"How do you know?"

"Because she's my girlfriend."

Qin Ya: "..."

Chu Yi packed his things and left. Just outside the complex, he saw a white figure. The girl in the sunlight was as ethereal as ever, but the scar on her left cheek remained an indelible shadow.

Every time he saw the scar, a deep sense of guilt surged through Chu Yi. He had caused that scar, all because of his obsession and desire.

The First Interview

On July 16th, a highly anticipated live interview took place at the ShowMe headquarters.

The host was the world-renowned interviewer Anderson, and the guest was the rapidly ascending new World's Richest Person, Luke Shaw.

Anderson was not a comedic, entertaining talk show host. His style was composed and sharp, capable of asking thought-provoking questions when least expected.

This was precisely why Luke chose him. Everyone had a public persona, and the world's richest person was no exception. He wanted outsiders to see Luke Shaw as an innovator—a person with astonishing talent, a unique style, and a willingness to drive change—rather than the playboy and gang boss that circulated online.

The "Young Master Shaw" persona had become a liability and could no longer be mentioned.

After all preparations were complete, Luke, dressed in a suit, walked onto the stage. With his muscular physique, handsome features, and those unforgettable emerald green eyes, the young man, illuminated by the lights, looked like a prince from a fairy tale.

Anderson sighed.

"If I hadn't seen your photos beforehand, I would have certainly thought a Hollywood actor was walking toward me."

"Hello, Mr. Richest Man."

Anderson stood up and extended his right hand. Luke smiled and shook his head.

"Just call me Luke. That 'richest man' title is awful."

"You don't like it?"

"It came too suddenly, like being hit in the face with a cake at your first birthday party." Luke shrugged. "It's a very strange feeling."

"I think everyone watching right now would love to experience that process."

The two sat down together. Anderson posed the first question.

"Mr. Shaw, before you, seventeen people have held the title of World's Richest. Their average age upon reaching the top was fifty, and they spent over twenty years building their companies. You came to Metropolis at seventeen and reached number one in four years."

"I'm curious, how did you do it?"

Luke feigned contemplation for a moment, then slowly spoke two words.

"Luck. Era."

Anderson looked astonished. "That is the most incredible answer I've ever heard. You attribute your success to luck and the era."

"Yes."

"...Alright," Anderson shrugged, gesturing emphatically. "I thought you would say: 'Because I'm a genius.'"

Luke burst out laughing.

Anderson also laughed, then continued, "Can you elaborate on the luck and the era you mentioned?"

Luke mused for a few seconds, then said intently, "The current state of ShowMe is actually the inevitable result of technological development reaching a certain point. Since the new century, information technology has developed rapidly, and the internet has become an essential part of daily life. It's a platform that connects the world, allowing people to become friends even when miles apart. All I did was present it in a specific way, which is also ShowMe's original intention: connecting the world and shortening the distance."

"We found the right direction, and that's why we have the result we do today."

Luke's calm words were thought-provoking, but Anderson looked surprised.

"Mr. Shaw, you are somewhat different from what I imagined."

"In what way?"

"I heard you are an intensely proud, intensely conceited, and intensely confident person—referred to by your employees as the 'Genius Tyrant.'"

Luke waved his hand dismissively with a smile. "A while ago, someone claimed I had hundreds of girlfriends. I was stunned for a long time, trying to figure out where those hundreds of extra girlfriends came from."

Anderson said casually, "Perhaps they just wanted to know your girlfriend's name."

Luke: "..."

"It seems you do have a girlfriend."

Anderson offered a fox-like, sly smile. "I never expected to uncover such a sensational secret today. I am genuinely interested, and I'm sure the millions of fans watching on TV would also love to know: who is that lucky girl?"

"Mr. Shaw, tell us! Say the girl's name! Let's have a confession of the century!"

The studio audience began to clamor, chanting, "Say it! Say it!"

At the same time, Linda, Carol, Diana, Emily, and others watching the live broadcast on their computers quietly clenched their fists, their eyes flickering with a mix of anticipation, nervousness, anxiety, and fear...

Luke was speechless. He really is an internationally famous host. He'd only paused for a moment, and the interviewer had seized the opening. Anderson's barrage of questions left him cornered and highly awkward.

Anderson pulled out a piece of paper and placed it on the table, saying meaningfully,

"If you feel too shy, you can write the name down. I promise I will keep your secret and absolutely won't tell anyone."

Luke: "..."

I don't believe a word you're saying!
