Chapter 606: The Giant Colosseum
The Infinite Loop
After concluding the agreement, Sivana took the topographical map that Luke had found and went off to locate Hasshett. As for what to do next, as long as he wasn't an idiot, he knew how to proceed.
Having dealt with Sivana, Luke left the library. He carried the book detailing ancient Egyptian magic, reading it while observing the layout of the Rock of Eternity.
The Rock of Eternity is immense and divided into four layers:
Top Layer: The Council Main Hall, the War Room, and the Reception Room.
Second Layer: Divided into eight areas: Living Quarters, Garden, Library, Alchemy Lab, Artisan's Lab, Storerooms, the World Corridor, and a large Public Area (occupying one-third of the space).
Third Layer: The most spacious area, containing the Training Grounds, Armory, Forge, Giant Colosseum, Magic Experiment Center, and the Sealing Places. This layer also features various magical traps.
Bottom Layer: Unique, containing nothing but a void filled with black mist. To leave this layer, one must find the nodes leading to the upper levels.
Clearly, Carter Hall and Hasshett were currently located on the Bottom Layer.
The two rivals had been fighting for half an hour with no clear winner. Hasshett's black sorcery was ineffective, leaving him reliant on the Cobra King. Although the snake was powerful, it was fundamentally a magical creature and naturally countered by Nth Metal. After continuous combat, it was covered in wounds.
Carter Hall was no better, his body bruised and his stamina nearly depleted.
Both realized they couldn't continue this way and needed to find a way out. Hasshett was the first to compromise, slowly guiding the Cobra King backward. Carter Hall did not pursue. After they were far away, he turned and walked in the opposite direction.
The Bottom Layer is a circular world with no boundaries. No matter where they walked, they eventually returned to the starting point. The two went in circles, and an hour later, they met again.
"Damn it! Why are you following me?"
"I should be asking you that!"
Carter Hall's face was dark. "I walked in the exact opposite direction. Why did I run into you?"
Hasshett was taken aback and couldn't help but say,
"I wasn't following you."
"Me neither."
Both their expressions changed instantly. They looked around nervously. It was as if an invisible, powerful force was hiding in the misty world, forcing them back together.
"Let's try again," Hasshett said firmly. "I'll go left; you go right."
Carter Hall turned and walked to the right. Hasshett went left, walking in a straight line. Unconsciously, he once again saw that infuriating face.
The atmosphere became tense.
The first time was an accident, but the second time was inevitable. This area was likely a magical, sealed world. Unless they found the spatial node, they would never get out.
Hasshett refused to give up. He turned again. This time, he marked the ground as he walked. Carter Hall did the same. Both tried their best to walk straight, but they kept returning to their starting point.
"Aaaah!!!!"
Hasshett screamed in rage.
"It's all you! It's all your fault! Damn it! Why is it always you?"
Carter Hall said flatly, "This is fate. We are destined to die here."
"Bullshit! I absolutely will not die with you!"
"If anyone is going to die, it'll be you!"
Carter Hall's eyes turned sharp. He suddenly lunged forward. The five-meter distance vanished in an instant. Before Hasshett could react, a sharp pain shot through his abdomen. Hasshett, being a ruthless man, threw his scepter the moment he fell. The black cobra shot like an arrow toward Carter Hall's neck. The latter quickly turned sideways, dodging the attack while simultaneously grabbing his mace and slamming it forward.
Bang!
A dull thud echoed around them. The Cobra, which had transformed into a giant beast, blocked the blow with its body.
Sensing the danger, Carter Hall retreated. The Cobra pursued relentlessly, and a new round of battle began.
Wonder Woman's Battle
For an ordinary person, the Rock of Eternity is a place of unknown peril, filled with various magic spells. A single mistake could lead to an extremely awkward situation.
Barbara was unaware of this reality. To ensure her safety, she was overly cautious, taking an hour to leave the Armory and reach the main entrance of the Giant Colosseum.
Inside, a non-human fight was underway.
On one side was a terrifying monster with fiery wings, resembling a gigantic dragon. On the other was a woman, carrying a shield on her left arm and wielding a golden chain in her right hand. Her eyes were resolute, her movements swift and agile, emanating the fierce authority of a Valkyrie.
"Diana..."
Barbara gasped, covering her mouth. That golden chain was all too familiar; it was the signature weapon of Wonder Woman, one of the six heroes who saved the world.
"Diana is... Wonder Woman."
In an instant, all her confusion was resolved. No wonder she always lived alone. No wonder she never attended parties. No wonder she dismissed the men who adored her. No wonder she occasionally disappeared without explanation.
My best friend is a superhero.
Barbara was both shocked and thrilled. Along with the excitement, there was an indescribable sense of melancholy. She would never be a person like Diana.
She couldn't help with the fight in the arena, so she hid, watching the battle and praying that Diana would defeat her opponent quickly. With Diana nearby, her own safety would be fully guaranteed.
The battle was fiercely intense. The woman and the beast fought passionately in the arena. Facing an opponent several times her size, Diana did not back down. She braved the flames and leaped onto the dragon-beast's back, wrapping the chain around its neck. With a roar, she flipped the colossal creature, weighing hundreds of tons, onto the ground.
"So strong!"
Barbara's eyes widened, shocked and envious.
The giant beast roared, struggling violently, but Diana straddled its head, slamming her fists down.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Punch after punch, fist after fist.
Each attack caused a visible shockwave. After dozens of punches, the giant beast stopped struggling. Its body began to petrify, turning into a lifelike sculpture. Its smashed head reverted to its normal shape. Simultaneously, the magical barrier covering the Colosseum vanished.
Having defeated the dragon-beast, Diana did not leave. She walked toward the two-headed giant serpent in the distance.
After more than a dozen battles, she had figured out the secret of the Colosseum: the sculptures in the arena were all sealed monsters. Under specific conditions, merely approaching them would revive them. Failure would cause them to turn back into stone.
The aggressive Amazonian Princess had grown to love this place. She enjoyed the feeling of letting go of everything and committing herself fully to the fight, battling terrifying monsters, and savoring the rush of adrenaline.
Seeing the situation, the anxious Barbara yelled out,
"Diana! Hurry! Over here! The barrier is open! Come out quickly!"
The girl thought her friend was lost, unaware that Diana was thoroughly enjoying herself.
