Chapter 686: Deathmatch

Diana and Clark Hold the Line

The hostile twin sensed the danger and extended its tentacles to shield itself.

Pfft!

The tentacle was instantly severed. The sword's momentum was undiminished, leaving a long, deep wound across the purplish-black, fleshy face.

"You dare cut me! Aren't we on the same side?"

The hostile twin roared in fury. It ceased the seven-colored energy column, and over a hundred tentacles flailed menacingly, lunging toward Diana. She hastily retreated, swinging her sword to cut down every tentacle that reached for her.

Suddenly, the shadow in front of her vanished. An incredibly terrifying aura erupted from behind.

Bad!

Diana's heart lurched. She instinctively raised her shield.

The ferocious-looking twin raised its chubby fist and smashed it down with full force.

Bang!

Fist met shield, exploding with seven-colored light. The energy was too vast, far exceeding the shield's tolerance. A portion of the energy was absorbed, but the majority detonated like a cannonball in front of her.

Large cracks appeared in the Valkyrie armor. Diana spat blood, plummeting straight down.

The gap was simply too enormous. She had thought the hostile twin was only slightly stronger than an average god, but it was far more powerful than that.

"Dare to bother me again, and I'll beat you to death!"

The twin raised its fist and huffed angrily. Before it could finish speaking, a black light appeared before its eyes. An endless stream of black light surged from the darkness, like a spear piercing the sky, vanishing into an unknown corner.

The twin looked down blankly. A bloody hole appeared in its chest. The wound was pitch black, and the power of death lingered there, constantly penetrating inward.

"You... you... Human! AAAAARRRGGHH!!!" It screamed like a mad thing. "Why did you hurt me? You all deserve to die!"

Clark retrieved the Soul-Devouring Bow and quickly charged forward.

The enraged twin roared and lunged, determined to teach the damned human a lesson he'd never forget.

The two utterly mismatched bodies—one massive, one normal—collided heavily. A circular shockwave erupted, forming a solid air wall.

Clark clenched his fists. An internal organ strike forced the twin to arch its body. He followed with an uppercut, but it was blocked by a fleshy forearm. Clark instantly changed tactics, firing high-temperature heat vision from his eyes, scorching the opponent's eyeballs, only to be slapped away by a tentacle.

Over a hundred tentacles spanned the sky, lashing out from all directions.

Clark took a deep breath, pushing his senses to their limit. In that instant, time seemed to halt. The incredibly fast tentacles slowed to the speed of snails. He could even clearly see the twin's ferocious expression and the excitement in its eyes.

A blur flashed through the air, weaving between the tentacles. With spectral speed, he reached the twin, drew the short dagger, and stabbed. The blade pierced the flesh, and the venom seeped into the blood, flowing throughout the body.

In any other circumstances, Clark would never use such a dishonorable method as poison, but at this moment, he couldn't afford niceties.

Luke and J'onn were risking their lives to take down the Mother Entity. Diana was already injured and now wounded again. Only he, Clark, could stop the twin's advance.

The extreme venom on the dagger was meant for Gods. Even the hostile twin couldn't resist it. As the toxin coursed through its veins, its limbs felt heavy, like lead. Its tentacles lost control, drooping limply.

"It hurts so much. It's agony. You did this, human!"

"You... you used poison!"

The twin seemed unable to believe it, watching its purplish-black skin turn pure black as the toxin spread outward through its blood vessels.

Clark didn't hesitate, seizing the opportunity to launch a frenzied assault.

His iron fists slammed down like mountains, blow after blow. Each punch left a deep depression in the twin's flesh. The twin screamed in pain. Its fatigued body couldn't muster the strength to fight back, forcing it to use its spatial ability to flash-teleport to a distant location.

"Don't even think about running!"

Clark chased relentlessly. He didn't have the Mother Entity's bloodline sensory ability, but he possessed extraordinary vision and senses. As long as there were no obstructions, he could see the twin no matter how far it went.

The two engaged in a spectacular high-speed chase.

A moment later, the twin suddenly turned, glaring fiercely.

"Human, you have made me very angry."

Clark sighed inwardly. Sure enough, the venom wasn't that effective. If even he could resist it, how could a monster infused with the bloodlines of hundreds of Gods be stopped?

"Die, human!"

The twin opened its mouth and blasted a colossal energy cannon.

Clark darted to the side. The roar of the blast came from behind, but his eyes held firm resolve.

Since I can't kill it, I'll hold it down.Hold it down until Luke and J'onn succeed.

The Chaos of Souls

The Soul World is different from the physical world. It has no physical laws; everything that exists is an embodiment of will and thought.

Here, the sky was green, as if on fire, but the ground was littered with white bones. As far as the eye could see, the land was a barren expanse of bone fragments.

Several figures made of bone laughed and chatted in the air. Seeing Luke, they immediately showed their fangs and transformed into vengeful spirits, only to be instantly shattered by lightning.

Luke looked up at the sky, then turned to face the ground. Green flames burned behind him, forming an endless sea of fire.

"Come out. I know you're down there."

The ground cracked open. Hundreds of tentacles burst forth, hovering beneath the sky. The tips of the tentacles split open like petals, revealing familiar figures. Unlike the illusions from the hostile twin's mind, these were tangible residual souls.

Princess Hanyue, Artemis, Ancient Hidden Buddha, Pale-Eyed Woman, White-Eyed Woman, God of Shangxu, God of Wind, Goddess of Beauty, and so on—hundreds of deities appeared simultaneously, staring at Luke from all sides.

In that moment, even though Luke was prepared for a deathmatch, he couldn't help but gasp.

The Gods in the hostile twin's soul world were mere illusions. These were real, residual souls.

No wonder she lacks a personality consciousness. How could a singular self-awareness emerge when so many divine souls are clustered together?

Luke calmed himself, asking in a serious tone,

"Which one of you is her?"

"What do you think?"

Hanyue, wearing a flowing celestial dress, spoke first. "Which one do you think should become me, or perhaps, none of us?"

Artemis stepped forward.

"Human, you have come to the wrong place."

An unknown deity spoke.

"Your soul is powerful. Unfortunately, there are five hundred and eighty-three Gods here, and each one possesses a different ability. Human, you have no chance. Surrender, yield to us. Otherwise, this place will become your grave."

"Apologies. I have a group of women waiting for me to come home."

"They would be very angry if they knew I became a thrall to your skirts."

Luke pressed his hand to his chest. His five fingers stabbed into the vortex there. The vortex expanded outward, revealing a world of blazing green flames.

Fire, fire everywhere.

The world was burning. As far as he could see, there was only fire and the shrieking ghosts consumed by it. They were both the fuel and the green flame itself.
