Adam carefully studied the knowledge stored within the Human Emperor Sword.
It wasn't just a weapon—it contained the magic and souls of generations of Wizard Kings. He had to master its power as quickly as possible.
The memory of that battle in the secret realm of Jiaolong still lingered in his chest like a cold blade.
The combined magic of Black and White Hair Wizard King's had nearly forced him to unleash all nine Zodiac powers just to survive.
If Patolli and the others hadn't summoned him at the last moment, Adam would've burned through everything—just to kill those two bastards.
For Adam, that wasn't a "battle." It was a near-bankruptcy.
The Zodiac power was everything he had. Losing it meant losing everything.
No one knows which comes first—an accident or a disaster.
So Adam couldn't afford to wait. He needed to prepare for the worst. Even if the Zodiac's power was lost temporarily, he had to make sure he'd still have the strength to stand at the top.
"What a terrifying bunch of monsters… worthy of being Wizard Kings through the ages."
He explored the core of the Emperor Sword. It recorded the feats and spells of Wizard Kings past:
Divine Fire Magic that could incinerate an entire army — wielded by a Wizard King from the House of Vermillion.
Mercury Magic that crushed the Diamond Kingdom's general Yaki — mastered by a Wizard King from the Silva royal family.
A Wizard King who commanded both Earth and Fire Spirits, known as the strongest elemental mage of his era.
Even those who once sought revenge against Clover were nobles of the kingdom. They'd simply been framed.
"It seems other than the First Wizard King, the rest are out of the question."
Only by connecting the Emperor Sword to the burial site of a Wizard King could a complete soul be resurrected.
The "souls" inside the sword were merely magic carriers—puppet shells with lingering power.
"The Rat Talisman's power really is reliable," Adam muttered, glancing at Princia. Her cold, distant gaze was nothing like her battle fury.
He had a plan now: use the First Wizard King's soul as the base, weave in the power of the others, and forge something entirely new.
A God.
"The sword's functions are simple—absorb magic, release magic," Adam murmured, testing the flow of mana. "If only it was complete… I could even tap into the Spellbook Tower."
He swung his legs off the hospital bed. "Princia, we're going to Hage Village. It's time to resurrect Lemiel."
"Lord Adam, you're still weak. You shouldn't move," Dryad warned, hovering at his side.
Adam rotated his neck. "I'm fine. The pillow was too soft anyway. Gave me a stiff neck."
"Patolli, Fana, Rhya, Vetto—you all stay in Elysia and wait for orders. Princia and I will return to the Clover Kingdom."
"Yes," Patolli replied.
The Human Emperor Sword pulsed in Adam's grip. Its magic flowed into him like a tide, steady and strong. His Shadow Army had completely faded after being drained dry. He needed to get back quickly.
Something big was coming.
The elves, after all, were still considered "enemies" of Clover. Until he had the full picture, he couldn't let them move freely. First, he needed to rebuild the Black Shadow Corps' intelligence network.
"Lord Adam." Dryad caught his hand, and a soft light flashed.
An elven crest etched itself onto Adam's palm.
"With this, you can contact me anytime—and borrow most of my power."
Adam sighed inwardly. This elf was way too charming. His body might not survive too much of this.
"Thanks," Adam said simply, releasing Dryad's hand. He turned and walked off with Princia, who—true to form—kept her cold, expressionless mask on.
"Damn it… what's so great about that woman?" Dryad muttered bitterly, looking down at his own dazzling physique.
The elves exchanged awkward looks.
Seriously. What was so special about Adam that even goddess fell for him?
Spade Kingdom – Underground Laboratory
"Caw!"
Nacht emerged directly from Zenon's nutrient tank, draped in black. His form was fearsome: plague doctor mask, curved horns, black wings spread wide.
Gath × Plumede Mode—the strongest fusion of two of his devils.
With the master-servant contract, Nacht could fuse with any of his four devils, though only two at once.
"There's… an intruder!"
The Dark Guards saw him but couldn't react in time. The piercing cry froze them in place as Nacht rushed Zenon.
Zenon had lost Beelzebub. Without the devil's protection, neither he nor his subordinates could access devil power.
And in the Spade Kingdom, those without devil power… were abandoned.
"Shadow Cage."
A pitch-black prison with cruel spikes snapped shut around Zenon. With a final click, the man who'd turned to darkness after losing his friend and rejecting the devil's contract…
…died in Nacht's hands.
His body shattered like brittle stone.
"Shadow Movement."
The immobilized guards broke free and attacked in panic, but Nacht had no interest in a drawn-out fight. He sank into the ground and vanished without a trace.
With Shadow Magic, no one could stop him if he didn't want to stay.
"Impossible…"
The guards stared at the wreckage in the nutrient chamber in horror.
Lord Zenon… was dead.
Dante would kill them for this. They had to run.
Morris didn't even look up from his work. He didn't care about Zenon—only the thrill of experimentation.
Vanica slept soundly in her tank. The guards scrambled to flee.
And then—
A suffocating pressure swept through the room.
Lucius Zogratis appeared. His presence alone froze everyone in place.
Even Morris couldn't move.
"Stupid little brother. You've disappointed me, Zenon. You're worthless now—except as food."
Lucius opened his grimoire. A glowing sphere of time expanded, freezing the entire basement in place.
He walked to Zenon's corpse, tapped lightly. The boy's soul was ripped from his body before he could even whisper "Brother."
Lucius swallowed it whole.
Bone Magic acquired.
He glanced at Vanica, calculating. He couldn't expose himself yet. Better to wait.
Lucius transformed into Zenon's likeness, used Soul Magic to rewrite the memories of everyone present, then restored the chamber with Time Magic.
The real Zenon's corpse sank beneath the floor into Lucius's grimoire.
He snapped his fingers.
Everyone awoke as if nothing had happened—including Vanica.
Lucius, now disguised as Zenon, smiled coldly. He accelerated time around Vanica, waking her early.
He couldn't wait any longer.
The Gate of the Underworld was waiting to be opened.
