Chapter 110 - Freeing Kurama

Minato stood there—blonde hair catching the dim red light of the inner chamber, strands shifting faintly as though stirred by an invisible wind that existed only here.

His blue eyes—bright, sharp, unmistakably Naruto's—were wide with shock, searching his son's face as if trying to reconcile the man before him with the infant he'd last seen sixteen years ago.

The white cloak with red flames draped over his shoulders fluttered softly, the fabric moving in slow, ethereal waves despite the stillness of the air.

"You know who I am?" Minato asked, voice quiet but laced with disbelief, almost wonder.

Naruto leaned casually against the iron bars of the gate, arms crossed, a small, knowing smirk tugging at his lips.

"Yeah, of course. Fourth Hokage. Minato Namikaze." He tilted his head slightly. "What brings you here?"

'Not that I don't know,' Naruto thought, keeping his expression neutral.

Minato exhaled slowly—almost a laugh, almost a sigh—and stepped closer, boots silent on the water-slick floor.

The red glow from Kurama's eyes behind the bars bathed his face in shifting crimson, highlighting the lines of exhaustion etched around his eyes, the faint tremble in his hands he tried to hide.

"The seal," Minato began, voice steadying as he found his footing. "When Kushina and I sealed the Nine-Tails into you… I left a fragment of my chakra inside. A failsafe. If you ever tried to remove the seal completely, it would trigger this… conversation. A last chance to speak to you."

He paused, eyes flicking to the massive fox behind the bars—Kurama watching with half-lidded golden eyes, tails draped lazily over his body, silent but attentive.

"I'm your father, Naruto."

Naruto nodded once—slow, calm. No outburst. Just quiet acknowledgment.

"I know."

Minato blinked—surprise flickering again—then softened, a small, bittersweet smile curving his lips.

"You're not… surprised."

"Not really." Naruto shrugged one shoulder. "I've had time to figure things out."

Minato stepped closer—close enough now that Naruto could see the faint scar across his cheek from some long-ago battle, the way his cloak still carried the ghost of the battlefield scent even here in this mental space.

"That night… sixteen years ago," Minato continued, voice dropping lower, "the Nine-Tails attacked the village. The masked man—unleashed it. Kushina was weakened from childbirth; the seal was breaking. We had no choice. We sealed half into me… and the other half into you."

He looked up at Kurama—eyes filled with something like regret, something like resolve.

"We wanted to give you a normal life. Protect the village. Protect you. But… we failed at the first part."

Naruto stayed silent for a moment—letting the words settle.

"You didn't fail," he said finally. "You did what you had to. Village first. Family second. I get it."

Minato's eyes glistened—only for a second—then he looked away, jaw tightening.

"I wish I could have been there. For every birthday. Every scraped knee. Every time you cried because the village hated you."

Naruto shrugged again—casual, almost indifferent, but his voice was quieter.

"Yeah. Me too."

Kurama shifted behind the bars—tails rustling faintly, a low rumble vibrating through the chamber.

Minato glanced at the fox, then back at Naruto.

"You've already started to change things, haven't you? With him. With the village."

Naruto smirked faintly.

"Maybe."

Minato nodded—slow, proud.

"Then finish it. Whatever you're planning… make it count."

He reached out—hesitant—hand hovering near Naruto's shoulder.

Naruto didn't flinch. He stepped forward instead, letting Minato's hand rest there—warm, solid, real in this unreal place.

"I will," Naruto said simply.

Minato's smile returned—small, tired, but genuine.

"I believe you."

The red light pulsed once—brighter—then dimmed. Minato's form began to fade—edges blurring like smoke in wind.

" I love you son," he said quietly. "And … I'm proud of you, Naruto. Always have been."

Naruto nodded—once, firm. The hand on his shoulder vanished. Minato dissolved into golden motes—fading into the red glow until only silence remained.

Naruto stood there for a long moment—staring at the empty space—then turned back to Kurama.

The fox's golden eyes met his—calm, waiting. Naruto placed his fingers on the seal again.

And he pulled.

The paper tore slowly. The sound was sharp in the cavern—chakra threads snapping like overstretched strings. The massive gates groaned, iron shrieking as ancient hinges finally gave way. Dust fell from the ceiling. The floor trembled.

The seal fractured. Cracks of golden light ran across the bars. Kurama rose to his full height—massive, overwhelming, tails unfurling behind him like blazing banners. The air grew heavy, thick with power.

Naruto stepped back—smiling faintly.

"Ready?"

Kurama's rumble rolled through the chamber, deep and layered with something almost like amusement.

"Been ready for years, kit."

The final latch snapped, the gates swung open.

And the chakra came.

Red poured out in a tidal wave—dense, molten, alive. It rushed forward and swallowed Naruto whole. It didn't burn like before.

It embraced him.

The chakra wrapped around his limbs, coiled around his torso, seeped into his pores. It flowed through his coils, through every pathway in his body, filling the spaces that had once felt incomplete.

Naruto gasped—not in pain, but in sheer intensity.

He could feel Kurama. Not as a separate being trapped behind bars. But as something beside him.

With him.

The red chakra swirled violently at first, kicking up waves in the shallow water that covered the chamber floor. The once dark, sewer-like domain shook as cracks spidered across the walls. The ceiling groaned.

The water began to churn. Then it began to glow. The rusty pipes dissolved into mist. The damp concrete split apart like a shell being shed.

The endless darkness thinned.

Grass began to sprout from the water's surface—soft and impossibly green. The liquid beneath Naruto's feet cleared, turning crystalline, reflecting a sky that hadn't existed moments before. Blue and wide.

The gates dissolved completely, breaking apart into golden particles that scattered like fireflies.

The cavern was gone.

In its place stretched a peaceful field—rolling grass swaying in a gentle breeze. Warm sunlight spilled over the landscape. The air smelled clean. Kurama stood there—not behind bars.

Naruto looked around slowly, taking it in.

The next second. The chakra vanished completely as Naruto stood there, but he was different.
