CATHERINE
"Go to Adrian..."
At Ares' abrupt words, I bring my gaze to him. The last thing I want to do is leave him alone with this old witch, but I knew he could handle it. He had her exactly where he wanted to deliver the final blow, but the one thing I didn't see coming was Adrian.
I should have thought about it.
It was quite obvious what she wanted. Using Adrian as her puppet now, after losing all the connections to the underworld.
I spared a glare, making sure I drilled into her soul before walking out of the conference room. Scott followed as I snappily searched for Adrian.
I asked the others in the bullpen, and they told me he ran towards the elevator. I used it and got to the first floor, out in a hurry, where I caught him running.
"Adrian!"
He halted, his face wet with tears. Shaking his head, he moved.
"Wait!"
He went past the revolving doors straight to the car.
Shit. I can't let him be alone right now.
