Chapter 78 - Chapter 76: Infernape vs. Shavaran

"Next up is the first match! Facing the confident Machop, what kind of Pokémon will our newcomer Ash bring out?"

The referee's sharp voice rang out.

"Primeape, I choose you!" Ash shouted, releasing an angry Primeape.

As soon as Primeape appeared, it stared at the Machoke.

Machoke immediately launched an incredibly fast Karate Chop attack, knocking Primeape to the edge of the ring.

"It looks like Machop is gaining the upper hand in the battle against Primeape! Although small, Machop's strength is considerable!"

Seeing this, Primeape immediately executed a High Jump Kick, but Machop caught it directly with both hands.

"Too strong! Machop is using its Machamp strength, grabbing Primeape and swinging him around. This is its signature move, Seismic Toss."

At this moment, Ye Chen took out his Pokédex and looked at Machop's data.

"Machop, a Fighting-type Pokémon. It possesses great strength and muscles that never tire no matter how much it exercises. It masters various fighting moves, and it is said that its strength is enough to throw 100 adults. Its signature move is Seismic Toss."

"This is bad; he's going to be thrown out!" Ash said worriedly.

After Primeape was thrown, Ash used his body to shield it.

"Primeape, are you alright?" Ash asked, enduring the pain.

Primeape's eyes welled up with tears from being touched, and its gaze suddenly changed.

"Alright, this time it's your turn to counterattack! Be careful of Machop's Karate Chop. You need to strike first, understand?" Ash encouraged, cheering it on.

"How amazing!" Misty exclaimed.

"What happened?" May asked curiously.

"You probably don't know yet, but Primeape never used to listen to commands. This time, he actually listened to Ash. It seems Ash really has a way with Pokémon," Ye Chen explained slowly.

"Use Scratch!" Ash commanded.

Primeape charged forward, swinging its fists and launching a fierce assault on Machop.

"Jump up!"

"Mega Kick!"

With the command, Primeape flew up, delivering a powerful kick that sent Machop reeling.

Machop was hit and lost its ability to battle.

"The winner is decided! Machop can't get up! Ash's Primeape wins!" the referee announced.

"It seems that Ash's act of not fearing injury and catching Primeape with his body opened Primeape's heart," Ye Chen observed intently, thinking that Ash truly deserved to be the protagonist.

"The second match is a showdown between Hitmonlee and Geodude. Geodude's body is made of stone, so how will Hitmonlee defeat him? Let the match begin!"

"May, I'm fighting for you! Cheer for me, May!" Brock waved to the stands at this moment.

"Look out!" May shouted.

Suddenly, Geodude was knocked off the stage.

"Ouch! Geodude, attack again!" Brock said, rubbing the bump on his head caused by Geodude.

"Don't hold back! Kick, kick, kick him to death!" Jessie said sinisterly.

Hitmonlee unleashed an endless barrage of kicks, while Geodude merely protected itself with its arms, looking like it was struggling.

"At this rate, Geodude might be kicked to pieces. Fighting-type moves are very effective against Rock-types," Ye Chen said worriedly.

"Brock, quickly think of something!" Ash shouted.

"A truly formidable man knows when to admit defeat gracefully. As long as the green mountains remain, there will be no shortage of firewood. Just fall down and get back up," Bruno said, walking over with a red sash.

"Alright!" Brock listened, then threw out the red sash, signaling surrender.

"Oh dear, Geodude has forfeited!"

"Geodude, are you alright? It's okay; you gave it your all. I'll polish your injured spots until they sparkle," Brock said, hugging Geodude.

"Leave the rest to me and Primeape!" Ash cheered from the side.

The match continued.

"Ash's Primeape has made it to the finals! The second semi-final match is between the Fighting Gym's Pokémon, Hitmonlee, and the legendary Kicking Demon, Hitmonlee! Both of these are ace competitors in the tournament!"

"This enemy is strong. We might lose if we go head-to-head!" Jessie said to James.

"Underestimating an opponent can lead to lifelong regrets. Be careful of his kicks," Bruno warned Hitmonlee.

As soon as the match began, it turned into a clash of punches and kicks between Hitmonlee and Hitmonlee, with both sides evenly matched.

"Magnificent, furious storm, Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain!" Bruno shouted these inexplicable words.

Hitmonlee continuously kicked, but Hitmonchan easily dodged them all.

Below the stage, Meowth secretly released super glue, intending to stick to Hitmonchan's leg.

Afterward, Hitmonchan's endless kicks landed on Hitmonchan.

Just as Hitmonchan was about to be defeated, May suddenly rushed onto the stage.

"Stop it! Don't bully my dad's Pokémon anymore!"

May stood in front of Hitmonlee.

As a result, Bruno blocked the attack and was kicked away.

"May, are you alright?" Bruno looked at her worriedly.

"Alright, forfeit."

"A forfeit! Hitmonchan's kicks win!"

"You did well, Hitmonchan. Are you alright?" Bruno helped Hitmonchan off the stage.

"I'm sorry, Dad, for always making you worry in the past."

Bruno apologized to May.

"That's great; they've reconciled!"

"Then what about our position from now on?"

"The relationship between May and her father has been restored, so your battle, Ash, was not in vain," Ye Chen said, walking to the side of the ring.

"You guys have been spouting a bunch of nonsense, turning the atmosphere into a family drama! I hate family dramas the most! I'm going to bury your hypocrisy!" Jessie said angrily.

"She actually managed to link family drama with hypocrisy," James retorted.

"You're Team Rocket?!" Misty said in shock.

"To protect the world from devastation,

To unite all peoples within our nation…

"No matter what, we absolutely must take the Champion title!"

"I want to book a family restaurant and eat all I can!"

"The finals begin! The dark horse who easily made it to the finals as a newcomer, the surprising fighter Primeape and Ash!"

"His opponent is the Kicking Demon, Hitmonlee! Hitmonlee quickly unleashed powerful kicks. Who will ultimately claim the Champion title?"

Hitmonlee's kicks continuously landed on Primeape.

"Defending isn't enough! Attack, quickly!" Ash said anxiously.

"Without jumping inside Hitmonlee's kicking range, there's no chance of winning, Ash. You need to find that opportunity," Ye Chen said, frowning from the side.

"Primeape, quickly gather your courage and jump in!"

Primeape suddenly charged forward, and as Hitmonlee kicked, it ducked down and moved to Hitmonlee's side.

Afterward, Primeape launched a fierce counterattack.

Hitmonlee suddenly jumped up, kicking downward.

Primeape rushed straight up and grabbed Hitmonlee.

"Good! Now, Primeape, use Seismic Toss!"

Victory!

"This Primeape, he might be a fighting genius!" Bruno said to Ash.

"How about entrusting him to my care? I will definitely train him to become a true P1 Champion! Don't worry."

"P1 Champion?" Ash looked bewildered.

"Primeape, I'm counting on you from now on."

"I'll keep my promise, don't worry."

"I'll remind Dad not to be too strict with him," May said.

"Primeape, keep winning! If I can know a P1 Champion, that would be the honor of my life!"

Ash bid farewell to Primeape.

And Primeape's eyes were filled with tears from being touched.

I never would have thought Ash had such abilities. Indeed, the bond with Pokémon is very important.

Ye Chen thought, stroking his chin, and then left the city.
